Flash 10 :: Wrap Video Mov(h264) Inside The Final App For Android/iPad2?
May 22, 2011
Im building an iPad 2 app with Flash with ActionScript 3 (Adobe CS5.5), what I want to do is to wrap my two sections of the video (h264) inside the final app? I do not want to stream the video or load it external, "I need it to be included in the app locally" (inside the final package)!I need it to be in one application, to upload to the iTunes Store/Google market
PS like to do the same with Android, the package (apk) no stream video.

I read an Adobe article which demonstrated H.264 video playback support in Flash Player. Would video encoded in this format be more compressed than typical FLV videos? Should I be using this format for video I place on websites from now on?

i stumbled accross the following website: URL...As you can see, the site is driven using a hd video. the user can interact with the site by performing little actions with the mouse. I guess this is simply accomplished by seeking through the video using the mousemovements as offset.What i would like to know is, how are videos like this encoded ? How big is the video behind a site like this ? Is the HD content streamed from the server ? What compression would you recommend for similar quality ? Do you guys know a tutorial/article that deals with constructing "video driven" websites like the one above ?

I am loading flash SWFs into an android WebView.I want the SWF to be instantly fullscreen and focused.The class name that handles flash is com.adobe.flashplayer.FlashPaintSurface .
Watching the log, when I fullscreen the flash manually, it calls com.adobe.flashplayer.FlashPaintSurface.toggleFullScreen()The first part of my question is, How can i call that method manually for my flash swf? Note that with a webview with a flash embedded, the only way i seem to be able to fullscreen it properly (to have flash's surfaceview fullscreen instead of the flash being displayed over top of the webview view) is by touching the screen with two fingers until an interface pops up at the top of the screen, and doesnt happen reliably.For focus, inside my webview class I call
@Override
protected boolean drawChild (Canvas canvas, View child, long drawingTime) {
if (child.getClass().getName().equals("com.adobe.flashplayer.FlashPaintSurface")) {
[code]...
This doesnt set the focus as I thought it would. Although i assume, if fullscreened properly, the flashpaintsurface should give itself focus. But if if the first part is not doable, i would wonder at least to not have to give focus to the SWF by clicking on it on startup.

use Flash's StageVideo object through the example ActionScript file in this page [URL] the problem is it's just showing up a black screen (no video) for live streams which are not using the H264 codec?and also it is not even throwing up a StageVideoEvent.RENDER_STATE event to say that it cannot play the stream. Actually it can seem to play the stream because I can hear audio but it is just unable to show up any video, anybody encountered this scenario before?Someone commented on some other sites to check if the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" in the Flash settings is checked, and I can confirm that it is checked, again this is only happening whenever I'm viewing a non-H264 stream

Right now I am working on an AIR 3.2 application which lets you stream a video to a Flash Media Server and saves it on a hard drive.This sequence works fine with the standard Sorenson codec but I want to use H.264 for my videos. I found lots example c ode and implemented it in my code, but when I record a video of myself I am unable to re-watch it afterwards.I found how to implement a H.264 encoding in a realeyes blog post here. My code is here.It saves the video as a .f4v file, but my browser (I've tried the latest versions of both Chrome and Firefox, with the latest Flash) and also VLC are unable to load the video. I also used a program called Movie Player which is able to open the file but can only show the first frame and the audio. Neither am I able to upload the video to YouTube because they do not support the file extension.Here is an example video file it saved: H264Test1.f4v.My question is: How do I stream and save the movie with a file extension that I am able to re-watch while using the H.264 codec?

I just met a piece of error log when I was trying to resume the paused mp4 streaming. Here is the log from the server:
[INFO] [NioProcessor-1]
org.red5.io.mp4.impl.MP4Reader - Frame
position was not found for timestamp:
92000
I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.

To display HTML formatted text in an AdvancedDataColumn, I'm using a custom renderer which is an mx:Text object. I'm setting myText.htmlText to something like "test text which is really a lot longer than the column width". No matter what properties I set though, the text just runs off the end of the column. I tried wordWrap="true" on the dataGrid and also on each individual column. I also tried messing with css and tried applying it to the text field, but nothing seems to show up. Any Way to wrap htmlText in a text object? Also, but slightly less important, there are extra blank lines after each tag which I would like to get rid of.
Renderer code.

I have created an swf where I can record the webcam picture as H264 video to a FMS 4.5 (I am using the developer version).My code is looking like this:
var h264Settings = new H264VideoStreamSettings();
h264Settings.setProfileLevel("baseline", "1.2");[code]....
I can then replay the video from FMS just fine, but if I try to copy the video from the FMS application directory into a local project and try to play the video with the FLVPlayback component, or with the Adobe Media Player, it is not playing at all.Is this to be expected? Can't I record a webcam video with FMS in H264 and use that video later without FMS?

Same file streamed from FMS4 (same on 3.5) with rtmp protocol has very poor quality compared to real file quality. Is there some low level configuration to do on Flash Server? Is the streaming server making some kind of transcoding before sending the stream? Or it can be Flash Player? Tried unchecking "hardware acceleration" but nothing changes. I am on a local gigabit network, so no network bottlenecks. Video seems very pixelated on the edges (not soft/antialiased). These are the file details:

I need an application to test the accelerometer values on my mobile phone. I need the values on my system so that I can manipulate that info for something else.
If I write an Android application, the values will be inside the Mobile phone, which is not what I want.
I have written an app in Flash, n tested in Adobe Device Central. Only catch is that instead of simulator, I need to test it on my mobile. How do i do this?

I have a very stupid question: can android (I use samsung galaxy S2 mobile) can access teh webcam ?In my flash application, I got a flash security alert that allows to autorize or deny the access to webcam.
When I run this flash, it never shows this security alert and then It does not access the webcam. I do tests for instance with the website [URL]: works fine on my PC, works fine on my galaxy s2, but since it never shows me the autorization dialog, I cannot stream my webcam.

I have a simple WebView to display a website with Flash (the Adobe Flash website) -- testing on a Xoom tablet running Android 3.0.1 with newly released Flash 10.2
After referring to every question on stackoverflow, I've set the following:
mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true);
mWebView.getSettings().setPluginState(WebSettings.PluginState.ON);
mWebView.loadUrl("http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/");
Both Plugins and JavaScript are enabled for the WebView using getSettings(), yet Flash fails to show up. When I set setPluginState to ON_DEMAND, it shows the correct placeholder for Flash -- yet again, when I tap the item where Flash should be, the Flash disappears (as if the Flash video is failing to render) and only the audio (depending on the Flash content) can be heard.
I've also noticed that I can tap the missing Flash, do a long-hold tap, then tap the top left where the new Flash 'Fullscreen' button SHOULD be and it'll then show up correctly in Fullscreen mode. But when I fall back to the WebView, it again fails to show up and only plays the audio.

If my research isn't totally failed, I can use the MediaPlayer object to Stream video, the only question is how do I use it?
So far my code looks like this, but it's giving me an Exception when trying to prepare the MediaPlayer.
public class Media extends Activity {
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {

Is it even possible to Stream the video from these sites using the MediaPlayer?

I cannot get JW Player to play anything on an Android device (real or emulated). In fact, even the default video and default setup that comes packaged in the JW Player download will not play! I've tried re-encoding the video... nope. I've tried prioritizing the HTML5 player over the Flash player... nope. I keep getting the error:
Cannot play video
Sorry, this video cannot be played.
Worth noting, it works fine on the web and in an iPhone.
UPDATE: Here's an example of the unmodified default player directly from the JW Player download: [URL]. Try it on your Android...

I am testing on a Xoom device, running OS 3.2. The project is built (in Eclipse) using the 3.1 library.
I have the latest version of flash installed, and embedded flash plays fine in my tablet's browser.
If I create an activity like this:
WebView browser = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.browserView);
browser .getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true);
browser .getSettings().setPluginsEnabled(true);
[Code]....
Then I hear the sound playing for the flash, but it shows up as a white box.
Similarly, any other page with embedded flash has the same problem. I've also tried making a string containing static HTML content, and loading that into the browser... but it has the same problem.
I've read every solution I could find online, from setting the view to invisible until the onPageFinish event is called, to extending the WebView class, and paining over it. I've tried reflection, to call hidden properties on the WebView's settings for enabling flash, etc. Nothing works.

We have alredy made a game at 1024x768 (iPhone2 max resolution) and it runs ok, maybe with a little hiccup here and there. But we really want to make a more complex game next time, and performance is a big concern.What resolution (in pixels) should we use for an iPad/iPhone game? does it have an actual impact on overall performance?

This is really a two part question. First, is it possible to detect if Flash is installed on an Android device? Second, if it is installed, is it possible to display a flash video in an Activity? I'm thinking you'd have to use a WebView widget within your Activity to display the Flash content instead of something like a VideoView. Is Flash even supported within the WebView widget or is it only supported by the actual Browser app?

I'm currently working on an Adobe AIR application which is targeting the iPad2 as the hardware platform, and can not get decent scrolling performance on one of the screens. I'm using a spark list, with a custom item renderer like so:
<s:List id="productList" top="116" bottom="0" left="10" right="10"
width="100%"
visible="true" includeInLayout="true"
height="0"
[code]....
As you can see this is pretty light-weight, yet my dataprovider contains upwards of 100 items, and 11 of them can be on screen at any one time. Everything I've read around increasing performance for scrolling revolves around using opaqueBackground and cacheAsBitmap, however no matter what I try neither help here. Using cacheAsBitmap at the list level doesn't help as the item renderer recycling kicks in once you've scrolled more than a couple of lines requiring the whole thing to be re-rendered, and using it at the item renderer level is still horribly slow when scrolling fast — presumably because many are being recycled at once during a very fast scroll.
I know the iPad should have no problem blitting a screenful of information in a frame at 60 fps, yet when I scroll quickly I'm seeing it struggle to make 10 fps (from sight). So the question: have I missed something obvious, or is this to be expected due to the number of layers (and vector rendering) involved when using AIR? For the record, I have tried changing the render mode for the application and tried changing the frame rate to eliminate the obvious.

I´m having problems with h.264 in Flash. streaming a h.264 video from Red5 to a Flash client with ActionScript 3 or 4. The original code supports streaming video in .flv format with Sorensen and I would like to support .flv format with h.264 encoding. Does someone know something about? This is my original code:

stop();
isPaused = true;
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
