I made this class and I put it in the same package of Timeline.as (the Document Class):
package {
import flash.utils.Timer;
import flash.events.TimerEvent;
public class Counter2 extends Timer {
public function Counter2(delay:Number, repeatCount:int=0) {
So I have a MovieClip symbol created in the Flash IDE with a baseClass of flash.display.MovieClip and Class name of "Square". I have placed it on the timeline of my fla at frame 30 and given it an instance name of "square". How can I control that MovieClip from my DocumentClass? I have an ENTER_FRAME listener listening for the arrival of frame 30. At that time I want to simply do something to the "square" MovieClip. But I keep getting a compile-time error of "1119: Access of possibly undefined property square through a reference with static type flash.displayisplayObject.".
If you load an external swf into a movie and this external file references "_root", does "_root" reference the root of the external swf or the swf that contains the external file?
i have a class .as file which extends MovieClip. inside the .as file there is a public function and when called upon it needs to change the value of a property that is on the maintimeline
Code: package { import flash.display.*[code]....
problem is this error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property gear_num through a reference with static type flash.displayisplayObjectContainer.
I'm unable to load forces.swf (assume I can't edit it, as I don't have the source code) through an external swf, due to Stage reference in the base class how would I go about loading it (and any other possible SWF) without errors being thrown?
Here is a link to the problem I am trying to fix:[URL]..
I have a Main.fla which loads Main.as as its document class. In Main.as I have a public function named "Main" which runs a trace. I also have another .as file called Preloader.as, which also has a public function in it, this one named "Preloader" with simple trace in it. I just cannot figure out how to use Preloader() from the Preloader class in Main() from the Main class. Main.as loads up fine when the SWF loads and traces.
My code is an external .as file. Google provides this code on their demo, which contains the this keyword:
[Code]...
Notice that I have 4 calls to console.log. The first 3 fire, but after the new GATracker statement, the 4th does not fire. I have a feeling that I'm overriding the entire package with the object created from new GATracker when I should be passing a different context. I believe the correct context I should pass is whatever this defaults to when not inside of a package/external file, I assume it references the main stage object.
I'm unable to load forces.swf (assume I can't edit it, as I don't have the source code) through an external swf, due to Stage reference in the base class.
How would I go about loading it (and any other possible SWF) without errors being thrown?
I want to create a MovieClip, pass this MovieClip to a function in another class where it will be modified.The problem is, when I pass the MovieClip as a parameter to a function and start making changes, the changes are only made locally. The "copy" of the MovieClip inside the function gets changed, but the "real" MovieClip back in my main game class remains unchanged. Here's the code from my Main class:
Code: var resourceLoader:ExternalResourceLoader = new ExternalResourceLoader(); var myMovieClip:MovieClip;[code].....
I've been searching around all afternoon, and am pulling my hair out. 1) I have a movieclip instance on stage (simple graphical element that represents platforms for a hero to run and jump along). I have placed it on the stage with an external class engine.as and in this class it is called myPlatform and is an object of Platforms.as. The movieClip is called platforms and from a trace(myPlatform.name) the instance name is instance3.
2) I am attempting to access the properties of myPlatform in an Enterframe event loop in my character control and collision class (called hero.as)
Basically here is the bit of code I am trying implement within Hero.as :
[Code]...
This all worked when I was writing actionscipt within the FLA file, on the timeline frame 1. I simply don't know how to access myPlatform from within the external Hero.as class! Do I need to create a variable? Is there a really easy way to do this with some syntax/command that I have not learned yet?
Alright, I am pulling my hair out on this one. Got this problem at around 9 last night and was up until 5 trying to fix it, and then all day so far (it's already about 9 PM again) trying to fix it. I've tried everything I can think of.Alright, so I'm trying to reference the document object from various classes in my class library. Everything seemed to be going peachy until I started getting this random, weird error. I thought maybe it was Flash acting up all of a sudden but I tried it on my Mac as well and I get the same error.Basically no matter WHAT I do, I am getting the error:
> 1195: Attempted access of inaccessible > method getSessionHandler through a > reference with static type pim:PClient
I am having trouble dynamically changing the reference to root in my movies. Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a main movie(_level0.mainMovie) that I am loading external .swfs into. However, I want to be able to test the child movie clips without having to load them into the mainMovie(for testing purposes). In such a case, the child clip would be at _level0 or _root. I would like to add some code to the child clips to test whether they are the _level0 clip, if not, then I want to change their reference to _root. Here's what I've come up with, which doesn't seem to work:
ActionScript Code: function testLevel(){ //This code goes into each child clip to see if it has been loaded into another clip
Using Flash CS5 Professional I have created a symbol, dragged it onto the stage, and given it an instance name of GreenLight1. If I want to make this visible from the document class, I can simply do the GreenLight1.visible=true; and poof it's good to go when I test the file. As long as I stay in the document class I am good to go, but now I'm trying to move to another class and hitting ALL kinds of trouble just trying to get Flash to allow me to access this simple object. All I am looking to do is have this GreenLight1 go invisible (visible=false) when a certain condition occurs in this new class and Flash just won't let me access GreenLight1 at all. Things I've tried thus far:
stage is passed to the class and is referenced by _stage and is working just fine when I do _stage.addchild or anything like that. So I have tried "_stage.GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property GreenLight1 not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value." My document class extends Sprite, so I figured I'd try the root function. So I tried "Sprite(root).GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "1119: Access of possibly undefined property GreenLight1 through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite." I tried to create the Resource class as described therein. To which I came across the same problem that I started with in that it doesn't know what GreenLight1 is to begin with so I got "1120: Access of undefined property GreenLight1." Here is my code for Resource.as (am I supposed to pass something to this class from the document class?)
I'm loading a lightbox as an image gallery, but I'm working on changing it to full flash. My site is structured with external swfs. I ran into a barrier, because I'll need to load the images (and reference the stage size) in the root timeline, but I don't know how. MovieClip(root) only references the smaller loaded swf's main timeline.
I am doing a looping background with 2 identical BG movieClip (B1 and B2). Those 2 are "new" by the same class.
var B1:MovieClip = new BG(); var B2:MovieClip = new BG();
But because this BG class picture is loader from the internet and the picture is rather big. When I addressed its loading by using progressEvent. The picture is really loaded 2 times. Is there anyway I create B2 based on B1 without using new BG() again? Since it definitely makes a new BG with Loader code inside.
i have 2 flash file,one is mine (the main container) and one is a external swf.i want to load the external swf to my container swf.i write this code in my as2 container code inside the main timeline flash (mine flash) -----first of all i add a movie clip with instance name mc1 to the first layer
i really try to use that code - BUT !!! -> if i use this code the external swf predominant my main swf code and all the rest of my code dosent work (like timer of trace)....
Why does FlexBuilder insist on a main class in the root of the source folder? By insist I mean that if I create an Actionscript project called MainTest. A file called MainTest.as will be placed in the root of the src folder. if I now create a package/folder called some/package and place the MainTest.as in it (and adjust the package statement accordingly), I cannot select the project to use this as the application class in Properties/Actionscript Applications as the package is empty as far as Flexbulider is concerned.
So there is a restriction that a main/application class cannot have a package other than the root package. The mxmlc compiler and FDT do not enforce this restriction so why does Flex Builder?
I have 2 flash files,one is mine (the main container) and one is a external swf.I want to load the external SWF to my container SWF.I write this code in my AS2 container, inside the main timeline flash (mine flash).In the first method, I add a movie clip with instance name mc1 to the first layer:
I really try to use that code - BUT !!! -> if I use this code the external SWF predominant, my main SWF code and all the rest of my code dosen't work (like the setInterval() timer).... I want to load the SWF like the second example and still run the setInterval() function.
I am trying to run a function of the main class, but even with casting it does not work. I get this error
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at rpflash.communication::RPXMLReader/updateplaylist() at rpflash.communication::RPXMLReader/dataHandler()
I'm using Flash Professional cs5/AS3 I'll try and describe this the best I can. I'm new to ActionScript. So, in my timeline I have a var on a frame that represents "lives" and i have some code in the timeline that takes down the number of lives depending on certain events, which all works great.
so, now i wanted to make a constructor class that I could reuse for a bunch of movie clip objects and I only want these objects to be able to move if the lives variable is greater than certain number. So now, building my constructor class for these objects i just wanted put an if statement that is looking to see if the lives are greater than a certain number, which if it is then should make these objects do what i want...But, when i run the project I get "1120: Access of undefined property lives."
lives is the var I made obviously like I said, and it works fine being referenced everyone else except when I make a new .as file for these objects then try and reference it. I get the same error when I try and establish "lives" in the main project class too. I'm not sure where I should put this var or how I can make it so i can reference it from an object class. I'm not really sure how to word or describe my issue which has made it hard to search for a tutorial.
I have a class called shapeC that only creates a rectangle and then addChild(rectangle);. That class is instantiated on the main timeline. Currently, the only way you can see that rectangle is to add the instantiated class to the stage via addChild(shapeC);. My question is, is there a way that the shapeC class can add the rectangle to the root stage without requireing the instantiated class to be added to the stage?
I have been busy building the UI for a class file I wrote a while ago.
The problem I have is in referencing the symbols on the TimeLine. All the symbols have an instance name, and only exist in the first frame (main timeline has only one frame anyway).
At the moment I am instantiating my AS3 class file from a timeline layer using[code]...
I'm working with Flash Builder 4.5 on an Actionscript project. I've created the following classes:
package { public class ComplexNumber {
[Code]....
but the code inside this loop generates the following run time error: "ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property 0 on ComplexArray." Thus, my code for "BXFN_complex[ii] = ~" is incorrect. Anyone know how to achieve what I'm trying to do? Basically, ComplexDivide.v1p0 returns two numbers, and BXFN_complex is an object containing two number arrays, and I want to assign the ComplexDivide two numbers into the ii'th element of arrays in BXFN_complex.
I have an external AS3 class file which is loaded up on the first frame of the Flash movie.
How can I reference the stage object in the AS3 file without having to pass it as a parameter?I mean it seems to me like the stage object is in the global realm - or am I incorrect with this assumption?
