Flash :: Flex - Manipulate Data Returned From PHP Service In Builder

I'm using the data/services in Flash Builder 4 to access the php functions of a site within an Air based Crud, and figuring out the most efficient ways to work with the data objects that come back.

The data comes back as an associative array, which is fine if I want everything from it to be treated the same. But I'm not sure how I am supposed to pull a particular column from the array without having to go through a for loop to parse through it.. since right now the contact name would be at allContacts[i].name.
Basically I want to make a list of the names from the allContacts, so I want an array of allContacts[i].name to set as the data provider for a element. Is there any way to get that done without having to write a for loop to convert it into a new array or writing a new php function?

I wrote an app using adobe flash builder that makes an http data service call to a website.
When I build and launch the app it loads in my browser (the address in the broswer is C:Userspath omyapp.html) and works perfectly. However, when I upload the app to my website or even launch it from outside the project build directory, the HTTP service call fails with the popup
Security error accessing url
Destination: DefaultHTTP
Of course I googled this error and realized it may have something to do with a 'crossdomain.xml' in my web root directory. I tried this and it continued to fail.
Below was my crossite domain file

I have been tinkering around with ServiceStack to expose some web services and have been very impressed. One potential consumer of these services will be a Flex application. Flash Builder (the Flex IDE) has a tool that auto-generates proxy AS3 classes for SOAP web services based on the wsdl - at this point in time only for SOAP 1.1.
If I recreate the HelloWorld tutorial, and try to use the SOAP 1.1 wsdl to autogenerate classes, I get the following errors in Flash Builder. There was an error during service introspection. The part 'parameters' has an invalid value 'HelloResponse' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema. The part 'parameters' has an invalid value 'Hello' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema. I am sure this is a problem with Flash Builder's tool. I am wondering if anyone has been successful in auto-generating AS3 classes from a ServiceStack wsdl?

I need to pass a struct and a string in a web service. I am using a WebService components to do so.upon my search, there is no struct type in actionscript and so I used a class for that one.

and I'm filling it up so that I can pass it on the web service like this:

Upon sending this request, it prompts me an error of Error #1088.
the component that is being called by webServComponentId.operationToCall(newUser, "password"); is this:

Basically it is a web service via MXML. So when I call the operation, it always go to fault part and shows Error #1088

I would like to use different service definitions in a Flex app depending on whether I'm running on:
My local developer machine
The test tier
The QA tier
The production tier
My services are all AMFPHP remote objects, living on different hosts and at different locations depending on which tier I'm on. How can I have my flex app choose the 'correct' tier at runtime to connect to?

This is the response to my question/error I get, but I don't know how to implement it, It turns out that my issues were caused by having two instances of the same data service class in two different components that were used in the same page. If I changed the components to share the same instance of the data service, then everything works just fine. how to define a service in the main application or elsewhere which can be shared between components?

I'm using a Text Field component to pass the parameter (in this case a 'word') and a Text Area component is bound to the result (the 'definition').This works because the result is a String (which displays correctly when returned to the Text Area obviously). Now, I want to receive an Array as the result instead of a simple String. No surprise, the Array isn't displayed correctly in the Text Area..... it simply says "[object Object]". Can't do much with that....How can I receive this web service "result" in useful form? Can I use AS2 to set the value of an Array variable as the result from the web service (once it's finished)? If so, what's the syntax? FYI: I already know how to tell when the web service is done, just need the syntax for binding an Array variable to the result of the web service.

Is there some sort of configuration settings in FlashBuilder 4.5 where you can easily switch between webservice urls? Right now I have to delete and recreate the web service every time I switch from local to production and vice versa.

I need to call an HTTP service using Flex that has variable arguments. I'm using Flash Builder 4 (Gumbo) to create the service definition, but there's no UI for variable arguments, and the subclass of HTTPServiceWrapper that it creates doesn't seem to support it.

I'm trying to import a web service with the Flex builder feature (Data > Import Web Service). The process proceeds as expected and the classes are generated based on the web service description. The code is generated with compile errors in it though.There are 20 errors of 2 varieties. I've included a sample of the errors below.It looks like an error in the auto gen. The auto gen code is trying to dispatch an object of ArrayCollection type. As far I know that isn't possible. rror examples:

I am developing a chat application using flex, which can use different service providers users like gmail,yahoomail,ami etc. Almost similar like meebo.com.
I am using jabber server. My question is what kind of information jabber returns.I am getting userid,password,status,status message but I am not getting address or phone number of the user or picture of the user..

I am writing an application in Flash Builder 4.5. I am also writing a PHP Web service to access data from our MySQL database. This Web service will be made available to third party clients for them to develop applications to access our database as well, via SOAP.
Is there a big performance difference between connecting to the service in Flash Builder via connecting directly to the PHP file vs. connecting to a Web Service via SOAP?I would kind of like to connect to this service the same way that our clients will, to make sure things stay as uncomplicated as possible for future development, but performance is my main priority.

I am developing with Flex + java + hibernate in one project. I am trying to add one more advanceddatagridcolumn in flex AdavanedDataGrid control. Actually it work very well but only except I added columns data. I have no idea what should I do to make it out I am telling work flow. At first call select method in DeliveryService.class through the RemoteObject and then call DeliveryMgr.class for call business work. After get return list type return value it pass to presentation class to setting all of the selected return value. I can print trace log what I added columns data in DeliveryPt.class but it cannot return to flex area.Strange thing is I can check out value of what I want to show data in DeliveryPt.class but it does not show up in AdvanedDataGridColumn of Flex.

I'm trying to connect to a very simple .NET WCF web service (created in .NET 4.0) within Flash Builder Burrito and the process hangs on "Introspecting the service". I get no errors -- it just hangs. The web service is on my local network, although not on my local machine.

From a video on AdobeTV, I tried to play with example empWeb (LiveCycle Data Services).In Flex Builder 3 (FB3) everything works fine. When I tried this on Flash Builder 4.0 Beta (FB4) it doesn't work. When I replaced original xmlns declarations (2009, spark, halo)with declarations from FB3 (2006) it works. Could you explain why?I'm using the default SDKs (Flex 3.2 for FB3 and Flex 4.0 for FB4). I investigated this (please see 3 source code examples). I have a SplitViewNavigator with two split views. In one of the views I have a list and in another one I have questions. User must solve the question and when user click send button, he will see another question.
But when user click to send button in one view, how can i know this in the other view? I'm a newbie in Flash Builder and I'm searching for this for hours.

I am bussy with a Flex Project with a data services. Flash builder installed Zend Framework with Zend_Amf.
When i run the project i get the error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed. With chalers i say that Zend_Amf give the error: AMF data is incomplete (0 bytes of 0 bytes). Please check the recording limits in the Recording Settings.
I don't know what the problem means. I have searched on google, but i haven't found a good result. The Flex project code is:

i get this error when i retrieve an XML that only has 1 node (no repeating nodes) and i try to store in an ArrayCollection. -When I have MORE than 1 "name" nodes...i do NOT get an error. My test show that XMLListCollection does NOT work either.
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "XXXXXX" to mx.collections.ArrayCollection.
this error occurs as the line of code:
myList= e.result.list.name;
Why can't ArrayCollection work with a single node? I'm using this ArrayCollection as a dataprovider for a Component -is there an alternative I can use that will take BOTH single and repeating nodes as well as work as a dataprovider?

In my Flex app I am using a repeater to show a report on my database data. On this report the user can "drill-down" on the data to show more detail. In order to make this easier on the eye I have a header label and then a datagrid within the repeater.Whilst this works perfectly, because the dataprovider for the datagrid comes from an array in the repeaters dataprovider, it is causing the following warning:Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to "report"The warning is for this line:

I cant believe that Flash will let you load data from a text file then doesn't allow you to do anything with the data other than display it. Surely there must be a way you can do something the data imported ie perform some calculations. Is this beyond Flash or is this something that has been addressed in AS3? All the tutorials I've found all stop at just displaying and 'swonking'.

I have been working on a flex application with java, as i have used Life Cycle Data Service for communication, i wana know, is there any function of flex, where i can see the loading status in percentage, that how much record is being loaded.Problem is, if there is lengthy record, no body comes to know, whats happening with software, like in Comboboxes or Grids, users usually think it as a BUG in application, but ofcourse it is not.I need such graphical loader, which keeps on loading with proper status in percentage, until it receives all data from JAVA (SQL Server).

I am writing a small flex application that will, eventually, call PHP services to perform its work. In the meantime, however, I would like to have it use local data in XML form to allow me to develop the Flex part independently of the data service.
What is the best way to do this? I want to emulate a service like this:

And invoke the service using issuerService.send(), populating my results as expected. How do I do this as though it were a RemoteObject instead, but keep my data local?

i am trying to add a web service in flex 4. This web service is deployed in share point 2010 in the intranet . I am able to see this wsdl file through browser but trying to introspect the service is giving an authentication error. I am getting the following error :-

I have generated a service call to a service called ServiceName.getService() - I can successfully pull data displayed inside mxml layout elements, but, instead of displaying it, I just want to assign it to a global.
I always get an error on the second line below - apparently the value has not been fetched yet. I have also tried adding a listener, and setting the global value on COMPLETE, but that is apparently never called. (I am guessing this generated service call stuff does not actually trigger a COMPLETE?)
Short question is: how do you simply assign a variable after you have loaded it via a service data call. (Not just HTTP)
getServiceResult.token=ServiceName.getService();
GlobalVars.variablename = getServiceResult.lastResult.variablename;
