i am trying to add a web service in flex 4. This web service is deployed in share point 2010 in the intranet . I am able to see this wsdl file through browser but trying to introspect the service is giving an authentication error. I am getting the following error :-
There was an error during service introspection.
WSDLException: faultCode=OTHER_ERROR: Unable to resolve imported document at 'http://sql2008:47672/_vti_bin/StoryboardingDatabaseConnect.asmx?WSDL'.: java.io.IOException: Authentication failure

I am writing an application in Flash Builder 4.5. I am also writing a PHP Web service to access data from our MySQL database. This Web service will be made available to third party clients for them to develop applications to access our database as well, via SOAP.
Is there a big performance difference between connecting to the service in Flash Builder via connecting directly to the PHP file vs. connecting to a Web Service via SOAP?I would kind of like to connect to this service the same way that our clients will, to make sure things stay as uncomplicated as possible for future development, but performance is my main priority.

WSDL defines a number of datatypes supported by web service . Is there a documentation stating the various equivalents of those datatypes on flex side. In general for any language that we use to consume web service, how do we get to know the equivalent datatypes of the wsdl types.
One of the web service that I am consuming is returning base64Binary (an image binary data) , What is the equivalent datatype of this on flex ?

I'm making a program in flash builder 4.5 using WebOrb 4 (which is fantastic, I might add). When I go to deploy, however, it gives me this error:
>There was an error during model deployment for xxxxProgram.
>
>The server returned the following message:
>
>Unable to contact the RDS Server "Data Services on Tomcat (localhost)."
>
>Connection refused: connect
>
>Do you want to continue launching your Flex application?
I've poked around online for a solution, but for the most part I either don't understand them (forum grammar can be somewhat obtuse) or the answer in the post doesn't apply.

I have a grails application that will be rendering an html page into a pdf file and I have a flex application sitting on a server that is going to accept REST parameters and construct a graph based on the parameters (which will be formatted in JSON). What I want to do is make a call to the flex app with my parameters and have the flex app create the graph, render a JPEG of the graph, then send an image back to grails. In other words, I want to put an HTML img src=that will render the image directly to the page so that my PDF Plugin in grails will render it into the PDF.

I've got a flex app with a DataGrid with several columns (defined in the MXML file), and I need to "introspect" the grid columns. That is, I need to write some ActionScript code which, given the DataGrid object, can determine various things about the grid (and more specifically, the columns of the grid).In particular, if a column is just plain text output, I don't really care about it... but if it's got "actionable" controls within it (checkboxes, linkbuttons, etc) I do. First, I'm assuming that columns which contain "actionable" contents will be within <mx:itemRenderer> tags (else it would just be plain text); please let me know if this is incorrect.Next I need to "dig down" into the structures, pulling the AS object corresponding to the <mx:DataGridColumn> out of the <mx:DataGrid> (I've got this), then pulling the AS object corresponding to the <mx:itemRenderer> out of the mx:DataGridColumn (two diff ways to do this; neither seems very useful), then pulling the AS object that corresponds to the <mx:Component> out of the mx:itemRenderer (if any; it's unclear to me whether the mx:Component actually creates an object), and finally pulling the AS object corresponding to the <mx:LinkButton> (or whatever) out of the mx:Component.
To clarify somewhat, I've been asked to provide Section 508 compliance (accessibility) to an existing application. There are a lot of pieces to this, of course, including screen readers, etc... but one of the first steps is making sure that the application can be used without a mouse. Many of the existing screens have a UI technique consisting of a DataGrid with item renders which place controls like radio buttons and linkbuttons and whatnot into the cells (same type of control all the way down the column). All well and good, except I can find no way to interact with these controls via the keyboard. So, I modified one screen to have a hot key which pops up a context menu, allowing the user to arrow up/down among the actionable items, and press ENTER to choose one (toggle the checkbox, press the linkbutton, etc). But this was screen-specific, and it will be too easy for someone to update the screen (e.g. adding another actionable column) and neglect the menu. A better (?) approach was suggested: subclass the data grid, introspect to find the actionable columns, build the menu automatically, and now all we have to do is swap out the SuperDataGrid for the DataGrid, and our screens will be 508 compliant.If someone can recommend a better way to make the screens 508-compliant (without redesigning the UI) and with minimal per-screen effort, I'm all ears.Maybe I'm not being clear enough, since you keep missing the point, so let me try again.I'm NOT writing application-level code... if I were, I'd know exactly what the logic is doing and I'd be able to use the bound data in the normal way. In fact, the application-level code DOES use the bound data in the normal way. But that's totally beside the point.What I'm TRYING to do is write "infrastructure-level" code: that is, code which runs "below" the level of the application logic. I'm trying to effectively add a feature to DataGrids which Adobe should have included, but didn't. If I can get this class working, it will be possible to just drop it into dozens of screens WITHOUT ME, AS THE CLASS AUTHOR, KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THOSE SCREENS OR THE LOGIC WITHIN THEM. The only way I can imagine this working is to look into the datagrid and discover, at run time, what types of controls lurk within it, and possibly what they're bound to (actually, I can probably just execute whatever the click="foo()" attribute says to do, and I won't need to know what they're bound to).

I am bussy with a Flex Project with a data services. Flash builder installed Zend Framework with Zend_Amf.
When i run the project i get the error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed. With chalers i say that Zend_Amf give the error: AMF data is incomplete (0 bytes of 0 bytes). Please check the recording limits in the Recording Settings.
I don't know what the problem means. I have searched on google, but i haven't found a good result. The Flex project code is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"

I have been working on a flex application with java, as i have used Life Cycle Data Service for communication, i wana know, is there any function of flex, where i can see the loading status in percentage, that how much record is being loaded.Problem is, if there is lengthy record, no body comes to know, whats happening with software, like in Comboboxes or Grids, users usually think it as a BUG in application, but ofcourse it is not.I need such graphical loader, which keeps on loading with proper status in percentage, until it receives all data from JAVA (SQL Server).

UPDATE: Now I've moved the AMFConnection var declaration to outside the functions in Main, and commented out some trace() commands, and now it gives new errors:
Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code=NetConnection.Call.BadVersion
at AMFConnection/init()[/Users/Jan/Downloads/amfphp1/AMFConnection.as:32]
at AMFConnection()[/Users/Jan/Downloads/amfphp1/AMFConnection.as:23]
...
I'm trying to connect to AMFPHP on a server (with Flash AS3), and the swf borks when it reaches the .connect() stage. To make things easier (?) and more reusable (?), I've put all the NetConnection mechanics into a separate class, AMFConnection, which I call from the Main document class like this (details changed):
public function testConnection(e:*=null):void {
var conn:AMFConnection = new AMFConnection();
conn.table = "some_table";
...
AMFConnection actually starts the connection and calls the AMFPHP service with the function gogogo(), and here's where the connect() NetConnection function just won't work. Here's the main section of the AMFConncection class
private var _netConnection:NetConnection;
private var _responder:Responder;
function AMFConnection()
...
It also fails to display the stage, instead showing the loading dots. Now, eventually I'm going to move this application to the same server as the AMFPHP service, but even when I try it there with a relative url, instead of an absolute one, it still breaks down at connect(). I've tried changing the publish settings from local only to network only, to no avail.

I am building a little Flash app that will consume some web services over HTTP. When I am in Flexbuilder and run my app there, it works fine. When I goto to my FlexBuilder project on my OS and double-click on it, it works fine. When I zip up my bin-debug file, I get this error:
Security error accessing url faultCode:Channel.Security.Error faultString: 'Security error accessing url' faultDetail:'Destination: DefaultHTTP'
So I googled that and got information on about the crossdomain.xml file. Well, I can't put a crossdomain file in the service I am calling, but I can put one somewhere else. So I put the following lines in Flex app:
Security.allowDomain("vx1391");
Security.loadPolicyFile("http://vx1391:8080/job/Remote%20FIT%20Runner/ws/trunk/flash-cross-domain.xml");
....
Which I know is bad in a prod enivironment, but right now I just need to get this working locally but outside of FlexBuilder.

I am writing a small flex application that will, eventually, call PHP services to perform its work. In the meantime, however, I would like to have it use local data in XML form to allow me to develop the Flex part independently of the data service.
What is the best way to do this? I want to emulate a service like this:
...
And invoke the service using issuerService.send(), populating my results as expected. How do I do this as though it were a RemoteObject instead, but keep my data local?

I'm using the data/services in Flash Builder 4 to access the php functions of a site within an Air based Crud, and figuring out the most efficient ways to work with the data objects that come back.
...
The data comes back as an associative array, which is fine if I want everything from it to be treated the same. But I'm not sure how I am supposed to pull a particular column from the array without having to go through a for loop to parse through it.. since right now the contact name would be at allContacts[i].name.
Basically I want to make a list of the names from the allContacts, so I want an array of allContacts[i].name to set as the data provider for a element. Is there any way to get that done without having to write a for loop to convert it into a new array or writing a new php function?

I have generated a service call to a service called ServiceName.getService() - I can successfully pull data displayed inside mxml layout elements, but, instead of displaying it, I just want to assign it to a global.
I always get an error on the second line below - apparently the value has not been fetched yet. I have also tried adding a listener, and setting the global value on COMPLETE, but that is apparently never called. (I am guessing this generated service call stuff does not actually trigger a COMPLETE?)
Short question is: how do you simply assign a variable after you have loaded it via a service data call. (Not just HTTP)
getServiceResult.token=ServiceName.getService();
GlobalVars.variablename = getServiceResult.lastResult.variablename;

I've got to invoke a RPC service, and all the parameters sent are String. It works quite well when the data is relatively small, but when one of the string grows to the size about 10 or over hundred KB, immediately after the service is invoked, it goes to the error handler:
[FaultEvent fault=[RPC Fault faultString="Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds." faultCode="InvokeFailed" faultDetail="null"] messageId="85CF2FB3-E79D-779F-87F9-B04520318D3A" type="fault" bubbles=false cancelable=true eventPhase=2]

I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.

I need to pass a struct and a string in a web service. I am using a WebService components to do so.upon my search, there is no struct type in actionscript and so I used a class for that one.
public class UserInfo{
public var name:String;
public var dateAdded:Date;
}
and I'm filling it up so that I can pass it on the web service like this:
var newUser:UserInfo = new UserInfo();
newUser.name = "myName";
newUser.birthdate = new Date();
webServComponentId.operationToCall(newUser, "password");
Upon sending this request, it prompts me an error of Error #1088.
the component that is being called by webServComponentId.operationToCall(newUser, "password"); is this:
<s:WebService id="webServComponent" wsdl="[PATH OF WSDL HERE]" >
<s:operation name="operationToCall" result="functionToCallWhenResult(event);" fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString)" />
</s:WebService>
Basically it is a web service via MXML. So when I call the operation, it always go to fault part and shows Error #1088
