Flash8 :: Buttons Not Working In Browser But Fine When Tested?
May 1, 2009
Ok so here is the problem:
Using MacOSX 10.4 Tiger
Flash Professional 8
Firefox, IE, Safari
I created a flash movie. All of the pictures fade in and out perfect. There is a button on each of the pictures and these buttons take you to the pictures respective page. When I test the movie the buttons work fine. When I export the movie as (.swf) and try it again the buttons work. I am hosting it on a GoDaddy domain that has been purchased and am referencing it on another site that I own. When I embed it onto my website, the movie plays fine but the buttons are not functional. Here are the things that I have tried to rectify the problem:
- Tried exporting and publishing to Flash Player 7 and 6 DID NOT WORK
- Instead of:
on (release) {
getURL(http:// . . ._self)
}
I created a new layer and gave the button an instance name and used it as an action layer:
MyButton.onRelease = function() {
getURL(www . . . ., _self)
}
DID NOT WORK
Basically a button in my .swf works fine, but when put in any browser it doesnt work. The button is in the flag in the top left and is a link to my advertising agency.
This is the .swf - [URL] and this is it in a browser - [URL]My code to embed is :
It seems that when I test my PHP mail in flash it works perfectly fine, but when I export it and try it in a browser it doesn't. Whats the deal, is it server-side?
I have a swf that loads in other swf files and interacts with the loaded swfs, everything works great when I hit ctrl-enter to test movie from from flash, but if I go out and doubleclick the generated swf on the harddrive at first it appears to work correctly, but some of my class methods do not function properly, or throw errors claiming there are null object references. If I compile to an exe file instead of swf it works fine as well.I am nearly 100% positive this is not a code related issue, as I said the only time I run into the problem is when I doubleclick the generated swf to run it.
So iv been flash designing for about a year now, and i thought i was pretty good, however having never usd the geturl script before i am stumped whats going on. my AS is
Actionscript Code: on (release) { getURL("index.html", "_self");} which works fine when playing the movie in the flash preview (pressing ctrl+enter) but as soon as i publish the movie and view it embbeded in an HTML document it doesnt work. this should indicate its my browser settings? however iv tried disabling my pop-up blocker and still nothing.
I have a flash project, its working fine in local system, but the same file is not working in live here is the link of the site, its showing blank page, the flash contents are not loading... [URL]
I have a flash project, its working fine in local system and checked this file with uploading in someother websites, its working fine there too, but the same file is not working in live here is the link of the site, its showing blank page, the flash contents are not loading.URL...and here the same file which i have uploaded it in other server its working fine.URL...
I am creating a website that has links to flash animations. i have created a folder called flash in the root folder and copied the relevant .fla, .swf and the .mp3 files into that folder. the animations are working fine but the audio isnt.it all works fine in flash itself.
I have SWFAddress going for the most part, but the browser's back and forward buttons aren't working properly. When I use the back and forward buttons, it successfully changes the URL but it seems the SWFAddressEvent.Change is not being fired in Flash. Everything I click within the .swf relies on this event and works great, but the browser buttons still won't.
I created a set of FLVs using Avidemux and then super to get them from DVD to FLV. The final configuration was:[code]They play fine in VLC, but for some reason from the get go they are a half second or so slow in the browser.I did notice in VLC for some reason the movies show as 47.7~ FPS, but I can't imagine that's correct. I'm re-encoding them as FLV1/MP3 for now with the same settings, but does anyone know of any common causes for this? I read something about a qt "fast start" issue, but I didn't know how to fix that.
When I preview my SWF from within Flash or run the exported swf outside of Flash, it has suddenly become extremely slow, maybe 10 FPS or something. But then it runs smoothly if I
- run it in a browser embedded in a HTML page - run a preloader locally which simply loads the problematic SWF file; once the problematic SWF file shows up, it runs perfectly.
This doesn't make sense to me, and it's really annoying to be unable to just Shift+Enter to preview. Anyone tried anything like this before?
I am trying to make a preloader, althought it loads just fine the preloader bar wont move, better: the filesize against the loaded bytes does not let it move. Code [URL].
I have a problem that seems very strange. A flash script is using URLLoader to update some records and send back a message. In the flash IDE there is no problem. However, when I upload to the server, or viewing the swf file locally in any browser, the browser just hangs and does not show anything. I have also added a IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR handler which does not give me any information. The URLloader is communicating with a php script. I have found out that it works with a .txt file. Is the anything that needs to be included in the php script?
my site is comprised of several images loaded dynamically and added to the display list. i declare a bunch of loaders on the first frame, and add a preloader progress listener to the largest image to have one preloader for all the assets. I then added a COMPLETE listener to the same image, and add that image, along with all the others in the onComplete function. i have two issue. the preloader doesnt work in Safari. but works fine in Firefox? and i'm totally stumped on what it could be? another compatibility issue that seems to be arising is that one of the galleries of my site which corresponds to the "drawn" link. also does not seem to be working in Safari, but works in Firefox. its a fairly simple xml based image gallery, which loads thumbs on to the stage, and then loads a larger version of each, when the corresponding thumbnail is clicked. the other galleries of the site work fine in safari, and are basically the same code wise.heres my code for the loading and preloader in the first frame
I have one .swf that loads a second one on level 2.level 2 then in turn loads variables from a text file .The problem is that it works locally, but refuses to work on the server. The urls are all local. This is such a simple procedure, I can't figure out what is wrong..... are there limitations doing this via server vs. locally? I never get any "file open" errors locally. I've spent 2 hours on this.... I'm just using a simple LoadVars similar to this example:
Code: loadText = new LoadVars(); loadText.load("text3.txt");
My full screen flash site works oerfectly on Mac's (I have a mac). But on PC IE and Firefox the full screen flash site is cut off 1/4 of the way down the page (see screen shots in zip or test if you are on PC). live site [URL] The site uses a swf object (files included in the zip). I got this from a template on flashDen. my problem is that I only have my mac and can't test on PC IE / firefox. Not that I would know where to start. I think that the problem might be the swf object from [URL] but not sure? I need to sure my site to apply for jobs. But recruiters use PC and it is very embarrassing that they can only see 1/4 of the screen.
I've published Mac projector files and .exe file from Flash CS4 for several months without issue. For the past week when I've published Mac projector files the .app icon appears on my desktop but when I try to play the file the dock opens but the file doesn't play. Any Mac projector files I published prior to this problem play fine.I've tried creating a new .fla file and have reinstalled Flash but I'm still having the problem. EXE files and SWF files play fine. Also, the Mac projector files publish at about half the file size they did before this problem, while the EXE and SWF files are the same size.
I'm running FMS 3.5. My live streams and recorde streams work fine. Whenever I am in the Admin console though, nothing displays or reports. These screen shots are displaying the FMS server activity while several videos are being streamed around Europe:
I am using a Repeater in an Accordian which does not appear to see a single element in userArray. If I add another entry to userArray then the Repeater works fine.
private function currUsersServiceHandler(event:ResultEvent):void{ if (event.result.currentUsers != null) { if (event.result.currentUsers.user is ArrayCollection) // if more than one elements are present {
[code]....
Edit:There is another thing I have just noticed i.e. that the accordian does show a single tab (when Array has a single element) but it's not labeled with the first name which I am setting. If I enter another user, two tabs appear and both are labeled with names I am setting. The first tab appears labeled too then.
i am using flash 8 professional and making my portfolio site using xml with flash. when you click the red buttons on the right, thumbnails appear on the left (and when you click those, more thumbnails appear, and then you click those and the image appears.) on my machine it works properly, BUT when i upload it, the thumbnails appear and then erase themselves (all except the first two). it's inconsistent and totally weird. i changed some of the code, tried messing with the publishing settings, and re-uploaded and nothing changed. a friend who works at an actionscript company said it doenst make sense that it works differently on my machine than online. she also confirmed that the way i embedded the swf in the html is correct
I've been creating this banner: [url removed] which accesses an xml document, replaces some texts etc, but as soon as you open it up in a browser (like with the dropbox link I pasted) the banner only loops on the first movie clip. Put in another way: The banner you see is looping through only the first movie clip. But the swf file (and the html file) work fine from the local path of my computer.
I have my swf file, how do i set the alignment so its always centered in the browser at the top & in the middle, it keeps going top left corner, also how do make the page always fit to screen size?
I'm making an game which i want to intergrate acheivements, I've got everything working to an extent but I've isolated code and put it in a test to show my problem. I have a MC called "ach" (without ") and inside that i have another MC called a1 , a2 , a3. They are animated to disappear after say 45 frames. I've put my acheivements on buttons just to test them, but in my game you get them for say playing for 1 hour or collecting all items and some for clicking hidden buttons etc. but when I click the buttons again the acheive MC keeps appearing. I only want it to appear once.This is the code I have got that doesnt work.
my preloader isn't actually working,trying to load the page on a PC with quite slow internet... The story is following - my preloader animation plays, but only after the whole movie is loaded, cuz I noticed a huge delay before the preloader was actually played... And then I used that flash speed testing thing (sorry, but I don't know how it's called) and it proved my theory... That's the code on 1-st frame, where preloader is:
works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.
This is driving me nuts folks. I've imported a video clip to my stage, added a skin for stop, play, pause etc. I test the Flash file using Control --> Test Movie and everything appears exactly as I want it to.
The problem is that when I upload the files to my server the embedded video clip does not appear, nor does the skin. Just a blank space
I have a photo gallery I developed using AS2 in Flash 8 Pro. You can find it at [URL] I used a loadMovie to import different swf files into the main swf file when a button is clicked. It works great in Firefox and Safari but suddenly stopped working yesterday in IE. It worked in IE (6, 7 and 8) since last Friday when I uploaded it but stopped yesterday. I am using IE on Windows XP. I did try IE on Vista yesterday when I started having trouble with my XP IE and it seemed to work...however, this morning I can't even get my IE Vista to come up so am not sure it is still working on that version.I removed the preloaders that are in the imported swf files but it didn't help so I put them back in. I am using the following code in my html to embed the flash:
I thought maybe there was a change in the way my server was serving the flash so I uploaded onto another server...still not working in IE. I also checked to see that the server did not store my swf files in all lowercase names.
I have a 700px heigh movie, which makes the browser scrollbar appear on most resolutions. If I focus on the html part the mouse wheel works fine; however if I bring the focus to the flash movie (simply clicking on it) it doesn't work anymore! This started to happen when I added the numericStepper component to the stage even if the focus is not on it.
else I'm going to get my hears pulled by the flash-accessibility-sucks people.
