I've reviewed all the documentation and Google results surrounding this and I think I have everything setup correctly. My problem is that the symbol is not appearing in my app. I have a MovieClip symbol that I've embedded to my Flex Component. I need to create a new Image control for each item from my dataProvider and assign this embedded symbol as the Image's source. I thought it was simple but apparently not.
Here's a stub of the code: [Embed(source="../assets/assetLib.swf", symbol="StarMC")] private var StarClass:Class; protected function rebuildChildren():void { iterator.seek( CursorBookmark.FIRST ); while ( !iterator.afterLast ) { child = new Image(); var asset:MovieClipAsset = new StarClass() as MovieClipAsset; (child as Image).source = asset; }}
I know the child is being created because I can draw a shape and and that appears.
I created a class called GameBoard that uses a pair offor-loops to populate a 2-dimensional array and display the array'selements in alternating rows of 14 and 13 objects respectively. Thefirst dimension of the array holds the arrays for each row of thegrid. The array for a row holds a set of objects from a class thatextends MovieClip. The objects are arranged with just enough roomfor each one.
The objects are displayed via addChild(). Their coordinatesare set via .x and .y properties. The intervals for theseproperties are unsigned integer values.When I test GameBoard on its own stage, everything worksperfectly. When I place a GameBoard object in another file,however, the spacing between the objects in GameBoard showsseemingly random changes, with some objects appearing to slightlyoverlap. The Stage of the file I am importing GameBoard into is
Our Flash web-based applications play lots of audio for narration and sound-effects. Some of our customers have firewall rules that block downloading of MP3 and other audio files. So, we need to wrap those MP3 files in SWFs. In the past, I've written JSFL scripts that automate the Flash IDE and walk through a complicated, fragile set of steps to embed MP3 files into FLAs and then publish those to SWFs. Now, Flex SDK provides the mxmlc compiler. I've mixed ANT into our workflow, and command-line and automated builds have been a joy. So, I want to make transcoding or wrapping of MP3s part of our build process. I've found Embedding Asset at Compile time in Pure AS3, but this will require that I write a script to generate a wrapper class AS file. Is there a cleaner way to wrap or transcode MP3 files into SWFs?
There is a new way to embed fonts in CS5. So I've embeded a font in a CS5 flash file's library and gave it a linkage ID. I'd like to embed this font in an ActionScript project using the "[EMBED]" tag. I've tried the following code to embed the "Helvetica LT" font, but the textfield seemed to be unaffected.
[Embed(source="../fla/CS5FlashFile.swf", symbol="HelveticaLinkageID")] private var _cHelvetica:Class; private function someFuntion():void {
The issue I am having is creating an application with nearly every component skinned using CSS. The majority of the components are skinned using:Embed(source="file.png");method. The problem I am running into, is flex trying to compile all of the embedded assets into the final swf. As it stands now, my compiled swf stands around 16mb!@@ OUCH. It is a very large application, but not that big. Any ideas on how to load the assets into the application at run time, or on request maybe?
I've searched high and low for an answer and it might be a foolish endeavour but i'd like to be able to read fonts from a directory at runtime for use in an actionscript/flex app.Ive seen the answers on the web and all rely on putting fonts in external swfs and certainly rely on embed meta tags or styles when i'd like a local fonts directory to be able to be used, its not too user friendly asking a user to compile their own swfs to use the app.The only answer I can see is to have a server running mxmlc and creating .mxml files with embed tags every time a user wants to update their fonts and recompiling the app when needed but its a bit much.
I have one font(VinylRegular). This font has extensions (like .ttf, .otf) of PostScript Type 1 outline font. How do I embed such fonts into a Flex application?
We are working on a flex project where we want to balance two challengesa) want to ensure that there is minimal need to be connected to internet- so it can be used offline. This will be used in rural locations with flaky connectionsb) Reduce file size by only embedding those assets in compile mode as is requiredBroadly, the project will go down one of three flows in the module called, based on user choice- Path A, Path B and Path C, which will require image set-A, set-B & set-C respectively (based on settings in the module)We want to send over all images in Set-A or set-B or set-C right upfront in the module called, based on choice made in primary project, to minimize need for connectivity once accessed. At the same time I want to avoid sending all three sets and bloating up download size three times.
i want to embed some of the system fonts on client machine in my flex app at run time there is way to load the fonts swf at runtime but it is not suitable cause of some security issues.
is there any way to embed fonts at run time in my flex app?
I have 2 images that are used hundreds of times throughout my application. Although they are only ~2.5 kilobytes each, they're multitude is causing the browser to load nearly 7 megs of data if reference them like this[code]...
Instead of having this issue, I would like to embed the image once, and then repeatedly reference the embedded object. I'm not exactly sure how to do this. From what I've read online, doing the following should work[code]...
I've been trying to get FXG to work in my Flex app, it works and renders fine but what I'm trying to accomplish is a sort of a gallery with data about the images in a database. I used to be able to use <s:Image source=/path/{variable_name}> but now I have to import the FXG files and can't use <s:Image> anymore. Here I can display a static FXG image.
I'm working on an AS3 project with Flash builder 4. I'm trying to get fonts into it.i read somewhere that it's possible to get the fonts from a .swf. I'm currently loading my assets in at run time, is it possible for me to get my embeded fonts from that loaded .swf? or do they have to be embeded some other way?
What's out there that lets you do this? Are there any OSS projects or maybe something a little more popular than this:[URL]? This does exactly what I'm suggesting (i.e. cuts out the need for Swing UI for the most part) but for a number of reasons I'd be interested in any better alternatives. alternatives would need to support the Flex SDK.
But many of images are more than 100 kb, then the image in the tooltip appear with some delay. Is it possible to embed all the pictures during loading swf, to appear at once with the text when the mouse over?
I am trying to embed arial bold font but getting run time error font ARIALBD.TTF with Identity-H is not recognized.i am embedding the font in purepdf library for generating the pdf file via flex app.[code]
I'm trying to embed fonts in my app. All is mostly well but for the itemRenderers in my AdvancedDataGrid. Adobe's documentation claims that [code] however, don't mention anything for ADGs, and setting defaultDataGridItemRenderer to either FTEDataGridItemRenderer or FTEAdvancedDataGridItem Renderer doesn't seem to do the trick.
I want to create something like gallerea of images. All images are defined within an XML file. The XML file itself sits in the project directory and embedded this way:
[Embed(source="xml/data.xml")] public var testXml:Class; The file structure looks this way
I'm creating a project in flex builder but it's not using the flex framework, it's just pure actionscript.
At the moment I have some bitmap resources embedded for drawing things, but I'd like a little animation and thought I could create swf animations for them in flash and use the [Embed()] thing to embed them in the actionscript project.
This works perfectly well for me, however I'm a little concerned about efficiency and how well this approach will scale when my project gets larger.
Does anyone know if there are any efficiency implications to embedding maybe 20 or 30 swf files, or do they get efficiently integrated into the main swf file? Most of the animations are really simple and I could probably redo them in actionscript if needed but it's a lot easier just to draw them in flash and embed them.
I always thought that separating the UI from the logic is the way to go like the use of class files in Flash CS3/CS4 or MVC in web frameworks but recently there are plenty of examples and posts using ActionScript embedded in MXML.
The Flash IDE is capable of embedding many types of uncompressed sound files, including wav, and offers optional compression when publishing.However,the [Embed] tag, only seems to allow embedding of mp3 files.Is it truly impossible to embed an uncompressed wav file,or am I missing some magic, undocumented mimeType?I was hoping for something like:
...but I get no transcoder registered for mimeType 'audio/wav'.It's possible to embed wav or other format as an octet-stream and parse at runtime,but that's pretty heavy handed I think. I'm surprised that even though the Flash IDE can embed uncompressed sound data,[Embed] cannot, given that the swf spec can contain uncompressed sound data.
With this configuration, and once I have set the compiler properties in Eclipse for the compiler to use the Flash text engine for MX components, I can see the two labels of the Panel in the correct font and style ; but the Panel's title will not show up. Even if I add the "embedAsCff: false" line to my style .titleAssumed, the title refuses to show up.
I want to put an Amazon Associates Carousel widget in my flash game. That means loading an external swf. Here's my attempt:
Code: var loader:Loader = new Loader();[code]....
The only additional information I've been able to find is that the error happens in com.amazon.arsenal.loader::Preloader. It would be useful to know what object is null, or what line of code this occurs on (I have the decompiled source of widget.), but I have no idea how I would find that out.
