Actionscript 3 :: Embedding Wav Files In Flash/Flex Project?
May 13, 2010
The Flash IDE is capable of embedding many types of uncompressed sound files, including wav, and offers optional compression when publishing. However, the [Embed] tag, only seems to allow embedding of mp3 files. Is it truly impossible to embed an uncompressed wav file,or am I missing some magic, undocumented mimeType?I was hoping for something like:
...but I get no transcoder registered for mimeType 'audio/wav'.It's possible to embed wav or other format as an octet-stream and parse at runtime, but that's pretty heavy handed I think. I'm surprised that even though the Flash IDE can embed uncompressed sound data,[Embed] cannot, given that the swf spec can contain uncompressed sound data.
I'm creating a project in flex builder but it's not using the flex framework, it's just pure actionscript.
At the moment I have some bitmap resources embedded for drawing things, but I'd like a little animation and thought I could create swf animations for them in flash and use the [Embed()] thing to embed them in the actionscript project.
This works perfectly well for me, however I'm a little concerned about efficiency and how well this approach will scale when my project gets larger.
Does anyone know if there are any efficiency implications to embedding maybe 20 or 30 swf files, or do they get efficiently integrated into the main swf file? Most of the animations are really simple and I could probably redo them in actionscript if needed but it's a lot easier just to draw them in flash and embed them.
I imported an .fxp project into a Flash Builder and then observed there are 5 .mxml files in the src/(default package) directory. Silly question -- how to run each of these five files?
Since I've named the project differently than any of the .mxml files, whenever I try to run something it uses the default (empty) .mxml file named after the project. Deleting that empty mxml file didn't help anything. I also tried to clean the project, but nothing changes (although I see the directories refresh with the same contents). There are no html files in the bin-debug directory.
There must be some simple way to run those .mxml files that I'm missing.
I received an inheritance old flex project. I've never worked with Flex. I installed the latest Flash Builder and I need to know the exact version of used Flex SDK. Is there any way to know used SDK version from project files?
I am trying to embed a video file into my flash project and I want to to play till the end and jump to a different frame in the timeline. I tried to emport the video into flash and it says that the file is not supported. Can I not do it or do I need to convert the mpeg file into some sort of fla file?
I am trying to figure out if it's possible to embed an external flash music player (in this case sound cloud) to play some of my own tracks in my flash site. I don't want to create my own player as the sound cloud player is really nice and also has stats.
How to embed a YouTube video file in particular place of my Flash project, should I do this in action panel or in final html file. Here is exactly what I'd like to do: On this website [URL] under 'Film' panel I have some movie samples, and after clicking buttons on right side I'd like to play embedded YouTube clips instead of flv.samples uploaded to my ftp. as it takes too long for customers to download them.
I am trying to make the project build light by removing all the unused (mxml, xml and image ) files. Currently I am manually searching for each image and then removing the unused file. But is there a way such that we can get list of unused files automatically . I was trying to use the swfDump.jar from 4.0 sdk . But that dint work as it is working with projects that are build using flex sdk 4.0. I am currently using 3.2 .
i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
I was wondering if there is a website from where I can download free mp3 files to use in my flex project? I am looking for some mp3 files using which I can create simple sound effects (e.g., you press a button, you hear a sound). I read flex can only play mp3 files, not wav files. Is this true? What's the best way to convert wav files to mp3?
I've got a Java/Flex project that I'm building using Maven. After doing some research I'm using the Flexmojos project [URL] for the Flex part, and almost everything seems to work fine so far (after a bit of struggling). I'm using version 4.0-alpha-5 (4.0-SNAPSHOT didn't seem to work for me).The Flex projects isn't recognized by Eclipse as Flex projects though. If I manually change the .project file and add .actionScriptProperties and .flexProperties files, Eclipse seems to recognize the projects as Flex projects.
I wanted to know if there is a way to embed a pdf file into a flash document to be downloaded by the customer. I want them to be able to click on the thumbnail version of the file to start the download of the high res version of that file. I am making an interactive cd so the files would be stored on the cd itself. I know I could do it by storing the files on the internet but I would like to keep everything local
I'm all very new to Flash! I'm a Designer. I recently out sourced a flash project and now my client needs it updating. My project consists of a music mixing desk. You press a button and video pops up. The buttons are in the stage. When pressed, this triggers a movie clip which loads a FLV player. SIMPLE! ([URL] - to see the site in action!) I have a simple flash gallery [URL]. I have put the SWF, image folder and XML in the root. I have tried embedding the SWF gallery into my Flash Project by importing it into the library and dragging it to where video content usually lives (FLV player). It doesn't work. I've tried other techniques (loadMovie etc). But I'm a bit fuzzy on these methods.
I have a CodeIgniter project and I made a back-office in Flex. I was wondering how I can implement the Flex project in my CodeIgniter since I'm working with routing I can't route to any directory. So there isn't a way to display the back-office.
I have been trying to embed a font into a project I am working and its just not happening. I am having 2 problems first I am trying to embed a font that I do not have installed on my machine (Helvetica Neue Bold), I do have a copy of the otf file though. As far as I know what I have tried should work however when I run the swf I only get Times New Roman. From the enumerated fonts I can see the font has embedded but it just wont show. Secondly if I replace the Helvetia font with one I do have on my machine (Arial for example) the text displays with the correct font but if I then set embedFonts = true the text disappears.
I have 2 flex projects which were create in flash builder 4.5.....how can i call one project from second??? the best would execute to the same window.... I'm interesting about both possibility (in browser and air too).
I have encountered a bitmap problem while embeding my image into my project. Since event listeners don't work on Bitmaps I am having troubles on what to do next so I can use event listeners on my image. Main Class - The section that adds the image in the class:
I have a question that's so trivial and obvious that I can't beieve it hasn't been asked and answered hundreds of times. Yet, I can't find an answer. Is it possible to do a "search & replace" across all the .as class files in an application?
1) Is there a way to add swc files after the project is created
2) And is there a way to link some of assets in those swc to classes (for example link a ball asset to a class the implements its functionality. You can do that directly from flash pro CS5.5, but is there a way to do it in flash builder)
I'm now working on multiple config files(about 16 .txt form files) in a actionscript 3.0 project. I think it is not good to load so many files. maybe I should package them into a swf(But I do not know how to do this) or do sth else.
So I'm trying out Ogmo Editor with FlashPunk and I've worked out how to load and display XML-based levels. What I want to do next is simplify the process of adding new levels.
Instead of embedding each individual XML into the source, what I want to do is create a single "World" XML file that'll include all the XML levels, embed that, and use it to store all my level data. That way, whenever I add a new level, all I have to do is add it to the world file.
I've done my research and I've found that there are ways of doing so - such as the !ENTITY keyword and XInclude - but I can't seem to get either to compile in FlashDevelop.
Currently optimizing an application at work. There are many files in some of the module projects that are not used by the exported (release build) Module.swf's. Are these unused files included in the swf's?
With parent artifactId of swf, swc, war set to swf, swc, test respectively. On executing mvn on test folder(for that matter clean or anything) I get this following error.
G:Projects est>mvn -e + Error stacktraces are turned on. [INFO] Scanning for projects... Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/test/swc/1.0-snapshot/swc-1.0-snapshot.pom
[code]....
Looks like its trying to download the project from maven's central repository instead of building it.
Our Flash web-based applications play lots of audio for narration and sound-effects. Some of our customers have firewall rules that block downloading of MP3 and other audio files. So, we need to wrap those MP3 files in SWFs. In the past, I've written JSFL scripts that automate the Flash IDE and walk through a complicated, fragile set of steps to embed MP3 files into FLAs and then publish those to SWFs. Now, Flex SDK provides the mxmlc compiler. I've mixed ANT into our workflow, and command-line and automated builds have been a joy. So, I want to make transcoding or wrapping of MP3s part of our build process. I've found Embedding Asset at Compile time in Pure AS3, but this will require that I write a script to generate a wrapper class AS file. Is there a cleaner way to wrap or transcode MP3 files into SWFs?
In the past I embedded several (with makers permission) youtube clips into a html web page (with the file stored on my server - mainly because I think it looks nicer). It worked fine. Now these were the old plain .flv low quality ones. But now I am trying to embed the newer higher quality youtube version, again, with the file stored on my server, and the embed code I used previously doesn't work. Now the new higher quality file is still called flv but it has a codec: mp4a
My old coding: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="704" height="546" wmode="transparent" data="mediaplayer.swf?file=xxx.flv&autoStart=false "> <param name="movie" value="mediaplayer.swf?file=xxx.flv&autoStart=fals e" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> </object>
