Flash :: Builder - Know Exact Flex Sdk Version From Existing Project Files?
Nov 23, 2011
I received an inheritance old flex project. I've never worked with Flex. I installed the latest Flash Builder and I need to know the exact version of used Flex SDK. Is there any way to know used SDK version from project files?
I got a XFL file, its library files and AS files in a directory.I would like to use Flash Builder 4(FB) for editing AS files, running the compiled SWF and profiling. When I created a New->ActionScript project in FB, I could edit the AS files but didn't know how to link the XFL file and run them. When I created a New->Flash Professional Project, I was prompted for a XFL file, and although the chosen XFL file and the AS files are in a same directory, the AS files are not automatically included in the project. I couldn't find a way to add exiting files in the project either.
I imported an .fxp project into a Flash Builder and then observed there are 5 .mxml files in the src/(default package) directory. Silly question -- how to run each of these five files?
Since I've named the project differently than any of the .mxml files, whenever I try to run something it uses the default (empty) .mxml file named after the project. Deleting that empty mxml file didn't help anything. I also tried to clean the project, but nothing changes (although I see the directories refresh with the same contents). There are no html files in the bin-debug directory.
There must be some simple way to run those .mxml files that I'm missing.
I identify my current installed debug version? Basically, I am using Flex 3, for past 2-3 days whenever I launch any Project or debug it, I get the message box saying "Flex Builder requires a more recent version of Flash Player." It says my curent FP as 9.0.115.0 and debug version as 9.0.45.0. However, my actual FP version if FP 10.0.22.87. I don't understand why this confussion! I don't know how can I know my actual version of Debug player.
1) Is there a way to add swc files after the project is created
2) And is there a way to link some of assets in those swc to classes (for example link a ball asset to a class the implements its functionality. You can do that directly from flash pro CS5.5, but is there a way to do it in flash builder)
I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?
I'm not a flash developer. We paid a developer to build us an app. It is nearly perfect, but a few things in the actionscript need tweaking (purely the values of some URL's for action when buttons are clicked.)I believe I need to rebuild the project to pull this information through.I believe he has sent me the full source. Do I need to install all of the dependencies to get this to work? I'm tempted to just go in and make the changes in a hex editor..
I am wondring if anyone has a good resource for opening existing Flex projects that where created in Flex / Flash Builder and run them using the TextMate bundle for Flex and Actionscript projects.
Basically I just want to know if I can walk into an existing project and configure this easily or am I pretty much stuck with using Eclipse ?
I am trying to migrate a project from Flash Builder 4.0 to Flash Builder 4.5. After Flash Builder prompts me to choose my new SDK, I choose 4.5, Then I get the following error:" error "The required skin state 'disabledWithPrompt' is missing".
I got an error when i tried to run the application as Flex Builder cannot locate the require version of flash player and saying you might need to install flash player 9.
I am using Flex Builder 3 with SDK 3.2 and having latest flash player of version 11.1.162
Even having latest version of flash player why i could not able to run the application?
I have an AIR project that I was working on Flash Builder 4.5 which now I'm trying to import to my updated Flash Builder 4.5.1 and it is prompting me to fix some paths before the import is completed. I'm kinda clueless what I should put in those fields.

The project access a web server to retrieve data using JSON.
When i change the code into my Flash Builder 4.5 project and hit run the output doesn't show the new result but the old one, only after a while the new result is showed on subsequent project runnings. Has anybody encounter this problem? Are there some hidden settings?
I'd like to write a program using the facebook-actionscript-api. The google code's website of facebook api shows that it provides .swc files for flex 3.4 or the sources.
how can I add them to my Flash Builder project ? Do I need to compile the sources ?
I'm working on Flash Builder 4 and want to export a flex project so my colleague, with Flex 3, can open it. Unfortunately, exporting a .fxp file doesn't work with Flex 3. Is there any other way to do it?
Is there a way that I can load (or export) Flex/Flash builder project in Flash Professional CS5?As it turns out we got Flash Prof for our team, but it may look like we actually need Flash builder to build lots of UI related stuff..
I am debugging both a flash cs4 project and a flash builder project, actually the flash builder project will load the flash cs4 project thru swfloader, but the system can only support one debugger at a time. So I am seeking a method to debug it simultaneously...
I will not be hosting the .swf file and I would like to include images using Flash Builder 4. The images appear in a folder in the exported version and I'm not sure how to "embed" them into the .swf (so that I can deploy the file to sites like Kongregate, etc.)
Seems like it should be simple, but my Google fu is currently poor.
Edit: Note, I would like to continue using the Flex framework, which is what I am using now.
I am developing a project with Flex, and I need to deploy my project in a form which can be used by developers who do not have access to Flash Builder. I've found references to plugins from Faratasystems, but it appears their sourceforge site is a little bit rusty. I could not find an up to date installation file that'd include FX2Ant plugin and work with my Flash Builder 4
I was just putting the finishing touches on a flex project that loads files from a second project.
In attempting to delete a second project, I somehow deleted the project I needed. I confirmed that I wanted to delete the files. I have a backup but it is a couple weeks old now. I feel like throwing up.
I need to set the size of SWF up to 800x600. But i don't know where can i change this property. There was an idea to change stage width and heigth, but nothing happened=(
I'm trying to use the Profiler for the first time so I don't know much about it. But it doesn't seem to work.I run my project under profiler, it says it is running, but no window shows up. Nothing. I can see the project's icon down there but I see no window at all.Can this be cause by the fact that I'm using Flex 4.5? You can the app in the dock and it shows its live objects, but I don't see the apps' window and cannot interact with it. The app is just a simple 400x400 window with some black shapes in it.
I wanted to import an older FB project into the flash builder on my new pc, but I only have the filestructure. So I used 'import>existing projects into workspace'.The files seem to be intact still, but the project now gives me an error regarding an swc in the bin folder:
I'm trying to compile an existing Flex3 project with the Flex4 SDK. I'm getting this error:
Warning: This compilation unit did not have a factoryClass specified in Frame metadata to load the configured runtime shared libraries. To compile without runtime shared libraries either set the -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries option to true or remove the -runtime-shared-libraries option. The resulting file is roughly the same as my old Flex3 compiled .swf file. Playing the resulting .swf file in the Flash Player also gives the following errors:
An Actionscript error ocurred: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class spark.core::SpriteVisualElement could not be found If I set the compiler attribute static-link-runtime-shared-libraries to true, then the error disappears and all is well. However, the size of the resulting .SWF is a couple of 100K's bigger. And that's not what I want.
I don't fully understand the concept of runtime shared libraries, but it seems that with the option to statically link them set to true, the libraries are included in the .swf. However, I like to exclude them from the .swf and only load the needed library at runtime, as my project seemed to do with Flex3 (I didn't know that by the way).
If I understand correctly, playerglobal.swc should hold all the necessary code for the external libraries that my .swf has to load. Do Flex4 compiled files need more libraries? Should I do something with the factoryClass in the Frame metadata tag?
I think my question boils down to this: How do I compile a Flex4 .swf that is the same size as my previous Flex3 compiled .swf?
I have Flex builder 3 already installed on my machine. Now, I want to use Flex builder 4 also (officially Flash BUilder 4) on same machine. Can I directly start with Flex builder 4 and import my Flex BUilder 3 project there w/o any loss ? If not then, do I need to first uninstall my current version (3) or can I keep both the builder versions simultaneously ? Also, are there any pre known concerns with the migration ? Will it improve/degrade the performance (My system has XP professional, Intel core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM ).
I'm totally new to Adobe Flex Builder 3. I've been assigned a fully functional project but when I want to add the simplest function to any class, I always got the same error : Call to a possibly undefined method through a reference with static type
For example, in some random class there is a function defined like this : public function GetID() : String { return m_strID; } If I try to define a new one like below : public function GetIDFoo() :String { return m_strID; }
And then I try to call both of them like this: trace ("This line is ok : " + oPhysicalScreen.GetID()); trace ("This line gives me an error : " + oPhysicalScreen.GetIDFoo()); [Code] .....
The Flash IDE is capable of embedding many types of uncompressed sound files, including wav, and offers optional compression when publishing. However, the [Embed] tag, only seems to allow embedding of mp3 files. Is it truly impossible to embed an uncompressed wav file,or am I missing some magic, undocumented mimeType?I was hoping for something like:
...but I get no transcoder registered for mimeType 'audio/wav'.It's possible to embed wav or other format as an octet-stream and parse at runtime, but that's pretty heavy handed I think. I'm surprised that even though the Flash IDE can embed uncompressed sound data,[Embed] cannot, given that the swf spec can contain uncompressed sound data.
