Nov 19, 2011I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

Oct 10, 2003i was under the impression after reading some posts on this forum that the flash mx component scroll bar could be edited and manipulated easily by breaking down the pieces (arrows, bar, ect) and changing color ect as seen fit?( i just was a black scroll handle that is pink on mouseover, and i want to delete the up and down arrows alltogether.)

I have an XML-driven video playlist that displays inside a tree component. If you start expanding the folders and sub'folders, eventually the contents of the tree grow beyond the size of the tree. If I expand something, I would really like to be able to scroll whatever folder i expanded to the top of the tree automatically.

Mar 2, 2012This is NOT duplicate of my earlier post (its is slightly different)But this is similar issue with similar error but its not the same error The error I am getting now is below while dispatching the custom event from my custom component
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert events::MapEvent@a74ab51 to flash.events.MouseEvent.
dispatchEvent(new MapEvent(MapEvent.CLICKED_ON_MAP));
Note: The error in my earlier post is giving below error message
Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.events::Event@81ecb79 to com.events.ShopEvent
The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.

Jul 20, 2009I'd like to implement a custom drag on an AdvancedDataGrid tree structure, which only allows the drag on the branches (not leaves).I'm having much difficultly with this, trying to use the MouseDown event, but not having luck! I think I've got the mousedown able to figure out if the item is a branch of leaf. Any help on how to perform the custom drag with an advanceddatagrid?? [code]

now, i have a labelFunction that passes in the xml..as an object but when i ran the programme, the tree view has each node, name, num_vars and variable as branches but the content in each of them was null and blank.
how can i properly display the namespaced XML on a tree view such that it shows every branches and elements in each branch?

Aug 24, 2010I have created a custom multiline item renderer for mx:Tree component. Important to mention that my item renderer has two UITextFields in it. Sometimes (depends of the input data) only one of UITextFields must be shown, so when second UITextField is not needed I hide it and recalculate the height of my item renderer. According to my tests height is calculated properly.The problem occures when I do scroll of my tree. The error text is:
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

Flex :: Tree Custom Item Renderer Children Creation?
Oct 14, 2010I have created a custom item renderer for the tree, i have added some children in create children function, my problem is that sometimes i need to show these children and sometimes i don't, depending on clicking on a button which also i have added at create children, the problem is that i had to create the item even if i don't want it to be visible, and removed it by making visible false, and this costs a lot of memory, i have tried to create it at buttons click listener but when scrolling the child disappears, and it may appear again if i keep scrolling up and down.. i am trying to add the child just when i need it to be visible, is this possible or i have to create it on child creation method?

This code does retain the new color, but it also changes the color of nodes which are not visited at all. What am I doing wrong here? Is there any better way to achieve this?

Nov 11, 2010I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they,for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
Actionscript 3 :: Why Is IconField Ignored For Branch Nodes With The Flex Tree Component
Nov 18, 2009I'm using the iconField property of the Flex Tree to dynamically set the icon that a node should use. This works fine for leaf nodes but for branch nodes it doesn't seem to respect my iconField and instead just shows the default folder node.
Here's a simple repro:

What happens is that icon2 shows for the East and West nodes but icon1 doesn't show for the Sales node. How can I get this to work?
