Flex :: Dispatching Custom Event From ItemRenderer?
Feb 15, 2012
I'm trying to dispatch a custom event from a custom ItemRenderer. This is my custom event
package events {
import customClass.Product;
import flash.events.Event;
public class CopyProductEvent extends Event {
public static const COPY_PRODUCT:String = "COPY_PRODUCT";
public var picked:Prodotti;
[Code] .....
The event from the function is dispatched correctly... I can't intercept it..
I have a custom Flex 4.5 component (to be used in a List) -
Game.mxml (represents a clickable playing table in a card game): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:ItemRenderer [code].......
But I never see the "game clicked: " trace. Does anybody please know why? I'm probably missing something minor, because I can see the "Clicked: 8946" trace.
I got a question about event dispatching in flex.my goal is to get a custom event loaded up with some data and than bubble up to the eventlistener. my main application has and AMF service request inside which calls an service class. that class is supposed to dispatch an event when the AMF service request returns a result or fault and the main application is listening for that event.so inside my mainapp i add and listener like this:[code] However, this event never reaches the main application. Looking closely to it with the debugger, i found out that when the event is dispatched the listeners property of it is set to null.
I have a repeater component with custom event. My repeater components fires custom event holding data. My need is to dispatch event so other repeater components can access data from dispatching component.
I'm building an all flash site, where one .swf acts as the parent, and other external child .swf's are loaded in using .xml. The "Child.swf's" are a mixture of timeline animations, and coded swf's, and the problem I'm having is that they immediately start playing as soon as they are loaded. I've not been able to find any straightforward "child.start() or child.stop()" solutions, so I assume it's more involved than that.
I thought it might be a good idea if I could dispatch events from the parent swf that will set them going. I'm using the sharedEvents method to communicate in the reverse direction (child to parent), but I don't believe it can be used from parent to child (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) I know I could go to each child and put "stop();" in the first frame, but how do I start it again? I would also prefer it if not all the child .swf's started immediately, but to wait until others have completed their routines. Again the way I see it is to dispatch an event from the parent .swf as soon as I'm ready to set them going.
So I am able to dispatch the event from one class and trace out that the custom event was dispatched, but where I am having trouble is listening for that event in another class.
This is NOT duplicate of my earlier post (its is slightly different)But this is similar issue with similar error but its not the same error The error I am getting now is below while dispatching the custom event from my custom component
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert events::MapEvent@a74ab51 to flash.events.MouseEvent. dispatchEvent(new MapEvent(MapEvent.CLICKED_ON_MAP));
Note: The error in my earlier post is giving below error message
Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.events::Event@81ecb79 to com.events.ShopEvent
The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.
Basically I am trying to create a string Validator which requests a new language from its controller by dispatching an event upon its creation.
The example below is a straight copy from the Flex3 component explorer - the only diffrence being that I have created the validator as a custom component which dispatches an event upon its creation.
The problem is that my main Application cannot hear the event being dispatched and I don't know why.
In a nutshell I have a custom event that I am dispatching from one class that is not getting picked up by the other class even though i have added the appropriate addEventListener calls on its constructor.Here's how the classes are laid out:
The NetworkManager class extends the MovieClip class as does the LoginScreen and Application classes as well.Now within the oLoginScreen class I dispatch the ValidateCredentialsEvent by calling it this way:
ActionScript Code: dispatchEvent (new ValidateCredentialsEvent(ValidateCredentialsEvent.VALIDATE_CREDENTIALS, oLoginData, true, false));
Then when I debug the code, I can step through and see that the ValidateCredentialsEvent is being generated but it is never picked up by the oNetworkManager class whatsoever.Is this occuring because the NetworkManager and LoginScreen classes are children of the Application class and because of this can't capture events raised by one another without using the Application class as the intermediary to redispatch these events? My whole idea here was to create a generic network managing object that could be called from anywhere within the application, by any object, using custom events.
Let's say function foo() is executing. Suppose that an external event occurs, for which you have a handler. Will function foo() be interrupted so that the event handler can be executed? What is the order of execution in this situation?
I've created a custom ItemRenderer extending UIComponent and implementing IListItemRenderer. This renderer contains a Text-Object to display the value.
For editing I'm using the standard ItemEditor (TextInput).
Now, when I want to edit a value, I click on a cell and the editor is created. But instead of displaying the value which was displayed in the renderer, "[object Object]" is displayed.
I have a custom item renderer which I use for my DataGrid. The DataGrid has specified selectionColor, rollOverColor and themeColor. The Problem is that the custom item renderer, does ignore those colors, and doesn't give any Feedback...
I tried to add the lines: setStyle("selectionColor", 0xEDF1F7); setStyle("rollOverColor", 0xE1F5DE); setStyle("themeColor", 0x3569B0); But with no effect...
I'm using a component in a cairngorm PopupWrapper. I want to listen to the KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWn event on the component but it doesn't seem to be dispatching it. Is it because it's in PopupWrapper? Is there anyway I can get it to dispatch the event?[code]
I have posted two problems with a custom itemRenderer see this post. My primary Problem is, that it always selects a wrong line (one under the one I select). I now realized that this happens, when I save back the content of the itemRenderer to the dataProvider. If I code this part out, the dataGrid works as expected...
I have a datagrid that I want to add a column of radio button using AS3 (instead of mxml). I was able to do this with a custom itemRenderer. var dgc:DataGridColumn = new DataGridColumn(); dgc.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(com.mypackage.RadioBtnColumnItemRenderer);
In my RadioBtnColumnItemRenderer.mxml, I have a box with a radioButton... like so: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Box xmlns:mx="[URL]" horizontalAlign="center" verticalAlign="middle"> <mx:RadioButton id="btnRadio" groupName="btnRadioSelect"/> </mx:Box>
When I run the application, the radio button shows up in the column as it should. However, I cannot select just ONE of the radio buttons. I am able to select all of them, but I don't want this... I want the ability to select one and then if I select another one, then the first one is unselected and the current one becomes selected (just like you would expect radio buttons to work).
A combo box as an item renderer for a data cell in a Flex Datagrid has been demostrated at various blogs. What if that combo box has to have an external dataprovider that has to be set at the time of converting the renderer class to a ClassFactory.
I have implemented drag and drop between 2 AdvancedDataGrid, but the default behaviour from Flex displays the row data during the drag using the grid item renderer showing all 5 columns.
Instead, I would like to display an icon / image or my own custom item renderer during the drag and drop.
I know the flash engine is single threaded so when it receives an event, does it essentially break off, execute any registered event listeners (in no guaranteed order) then return to the current scope?[code]can I guarantee that the current function will complete before any of the event listeners execute? ie trace("Done"); will ALWAYS execute first.
I'm using a custom itemrenderer to display a list of photos and need to know how to control the width. At the moment it does this: Which, as I'm sure you'll agree, is eye-bleedingly ugly. The list is created like this:
Im working at a DataGrid which has a custom itemRenderer with a checkbox and a Label inside. Im struggling adding the the values from a xml to the wright label dynamically... how can I make the connection from the datagrid's dataProvider (a xml doc) to the label and the checkbox? My itemRenderer loks a following:
have been working on an air app for quite some time and in one of my mx:lists i have a custom renderer written in pure AS (no mxml). it extends the listitemrenderer mx componenet. in it i have overrode the createChildren() function to add some children of my own.
now, fort right-to-left text i want in this itemrenderer, i would like to add a spark:TextArea component in this createChildren() function
is there a way to do so?
this is the itemRenderer: import flash.text.TextField; import mx.controls.listClasses.ListItemRenderer;
I'm having an issue with a custom ItemRenderer I've written for a DataGrid. With this ItemRenderer, it's possible that the contents could exceed the width and height of the DataGrid cell - and when this happens, scroll bars appear, letting me scroll the individual cell.What I would like, however, is that when the contents of the cell are too large, the entire DataGrid scrolls, rather than the individual cells.
Now, when I set the custom ItemRenderer's horizontal and vertical scroll bar policies to "off", I get the vertical scrolling on the DataGrid that I want (the individual cells stretch to accommodate the full height of the contents) but I don't get any horizontal scrolling. Instead, any content too wide for the cell is clipped. Incidentally, setting the DataGrid's horizontal scroll bar policy to "on" has no effect, the scroll bar gutter is drawn, but nothing scrolls Is there a way to force the DataGrid to scroll horizontally when my custom ItemRenderer's contents are too wide for the cell?
I have a object that is extended from arraycollection. This object has to access and manipulate the arraycollections source object. When this happens, the local sorted/filter copy of data goes out of sync with the source data. To line things up correctly, the sort/filter needs to be re-applied.
To do this normally, you would call refresh() on the arraycollection, but this also broadcasts a refresh event. What I want is to update the sort/filter without dispatching an event.Having looked into the ArrayCollection class, I can see it is extended from ListCollectionView. The refresh function
public function refresh():Boolean { return internalRefresh(true); }
is in ListCollectionView and it calls this function
private function internalRefresh(dispatch:Boolean):Boolean { if (sort || filterFunction != null) {
[code]....
annoyingly, that function is private and so is unavailable to and class that extends ListCollectionView. Also, a lot of what is in the internalRefresh function is private too.Does anyone know of a way to call internalRefresh from a class that extends ArrayCollection? Or a way of stopping the refresh event from being dispatched when refresh is called?
I've made a custom list itemRenderer with 2 buttons and a label. One button deletes the list entry (and thats not the problem) the second button would change the actual view.how I can change actual view within the itemrenderer ?
