Any list which folders need to be excluded from a Flash Builder project when adding it to source control. E.g. bin-debug folder which is automatically generated when the project is compiled should not be in source control and etc.
When setting up a source control repository for a Flex Builder workspace, what do you consider to be worth checking in? Do you exclude the workspace .metadata folder but keep the .project and other project specific files? Keep both? Throw away both? Is there a guideline you use to decide which is worth holding onto or do you do it out of practical experience?
According to the answers to this question here, the reason why I'm not seeing errors as I work in Flash Builder is that FB is "optimizing" them out because they aren't referenced at any point in the code execution. Is there an option to force Flash Builder to compile all files regardless of whether they're used in the software?
Why does FlexBuilder insist on a main class in the root of the source folder? By insist I mean that if I create an Actionscript project called MainTest. A file called MainTest.as will be placed in the root of the src folder. if I now create a package/folder called some/package and place the MainTest.as in it (and adjust the package statement accordingly), I cannot select the project to use this as the application class in Properties/Actionscript Applications as the package is empty as far as Flexbulider is concerned.
So there is a restriction that a main/application class cannot have a package other than the root package. The mxmlc compiler and FDT do not enforce this restriction so why does Flex Builder?
I'm using PanZoomComponent in my application. When a user holds down control key with mouse press, I want to show hand tool by making PanZoomComponent object's property childPreventsPan = false; In short at combination of control key and mouse press I want to show Hand tool if not cursor.
I want to be able to set it up and run it in flex builder and play with it for learning purpose.
I tried to use the import project option by pointing to the flexlib directory but it did not work - I think thats because the source by default does not have any .project or properties files.
Is it possible to control a Flash movie from JS when you have no control over the source? I have decompiled the movie to see its inner workings, but I know nothing about Flash, so I'm mostly in the dark. I found this resource, Interaction with JavaScript, but it's not working for me (probably because I don't know what message to send to the movie).
I've got an old flex builder 3 project that I imported into Flash Builder 4, and I want this project to run its web applications in my web browser. However, the apps persistently run in the Flash Player instead. This is causing no end of problems because of the flash player bug documented at [URL]..
I've just installed Flash builder on my machine, which went ahead and installed the debug version of Flash on my machine as well. It appears now that this has broken Flash in my browsers or at least the browsers have no idea where flash is located on my machine. When I open a browser and navigate to a Flash page I get the message,
"Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash "
This is from Google chrome but FF is also effected.
I got an error when i tried to run the application as Flex Builder cannot locate the require version of flash player and saying you might need to install flash player 9.
I am using Flex Builder 3 with SDK 3.2 and having latest flash player of version 11.1.162
Even having latest version of flash player why i could not able to run the application?
Is it at all possible to connect the Flash Player debug version to the debugger in Flex Builder using source code? I'm running an app which has no right click menu, and I therefore can't right click and select connect to debugger.
I just finished my installation of Adobe Flash Builder 4. I've definitely installed the most recent flash player from Adobe's website onto my computer. Also, in the run configurations of flash builder 4, I changed the source path from the .html file to the .swf file that is generated. I don't need to test it in a web browser, I just want to run the swf in flash player.
I only have 1 .as file in my actionscript project and there is no code written in it other than the package, class and main function statements. When I run the .html file, it runs fine, and debugs fine. However, when I switch the source path to the .swf file, it runs fine but doesn't debug!
When I debug it, the progress gets stuck at 57% and it says "Waiting for Adobe Flash Player to connect to debugger..." in the "Progress" tab. After a few minutes a window pops up that says:
"Failed to connect. The session has timed out. Ensure that you have run the application with debugging on and that I have the debugger version of flash player."
What can I do to fix this? I am on an intel Mac running OS 10.6.5.
source control on personal Flex projects, and what eclipse plug-ins are available for these source control services? I'd like to add some personal projects to source control when they are ready.
I am new to creating Flex applications and trying to target Flash Player 10.2 with my first. I have created it using Flash Builder 4.6 and compiled using the 4.5a SDK. I've also set the option to target 10.2.0 in the the Adobe Flash Player options. When I create the release build, there are no error and the resulting HTML file contains the following:For version detection, set to min. required Flash Player version, or 0 (or 0.0.0), for no version detection.var swfVersionStr = "10.2.0";However, if I try to visit the application in a browser with v10.2 of the plug-in it says 11.1 is needed. I also have the same problem with a simple Flash CS5 animation that only uses stop() and getURL(). The animation works but doesn't stop.URL..
I have the source folder from a friend's Android app and I am going to do all of the design for the app. If I could import the folder that he gave me from Eclipse, it would be easier to create a nice UI for the app.
Is this possible? If not, can I load the XML files into Flash Builder to make the UI? EDIT: To clarify, I have a project file that I can open in Eclipse. I want to edit the appearance of the project using Flash Builder without interfering with the application's functionality.
I'm working on a project (using flash builder 4.5) where a user can click on one of a number of pictures to perform an action. The images are all loaded into an array of UIComponents through actionscript. I have a private variable as follows: private var _selectedChild:UIComponent;
Which keeps track of which UIComponent is currently "selected" (was the last item clicked). I just want to show an Alert when the picture is clicked displaying it's id and the source filename. Alert.show("Current id: " + _selectedChild.id + " -- filename: " + _selectedChild.source);
The id comes out easy with _selectedChild.id, but there is no such thing as .source - I looked throughout the entire list of possible variables eclipse gives me and I can't figure out which one would display the url or the source. I feel like I might be missing something easy - does anyone know how to get this information from a UIComponent?
This is the relevant mxml: <dp:Test id="test" width="100%" height="100%" > <mx:Image id="i1" source="images/i1.jpg"/> <mx:Image id="i2" source="images/i2.jpg"/> </dp:Test>
How do you define a relative link to the source of a linked library in Flash Builder (4). I have a swc folder defined for a project. I want to link one of the contained swcs to it's associated source. This works fine except that the path stored in the .actionScriptProperties file is absolute. Here you can see the linked lib:
I am using Flash Builder 4 and have mistakenly set an abstract class to be the default application class.. It's not too much of an issue as I have set the correct one again, which works fine most of the time, but not when I am editing the incorrect one and hit F11 - it attempts to run the project via this incorrect class. Is there any way to remove the "runnable" attribute from this file so that this doesn't happen? An example of how this looks in the package explorer is below (Application.as is the correct file, AbstractQuickDraggable.as is not):
We use subversion, which works great for software projects. We also have a lot of flash projects, which we don't use any kind of source control. Each flash project contain quite a few images. The time frame of each project is a couple weeks, but few can go upto a couple months.
The number of files we create contribute to quite a bit of file size. To keep repository size at a minimum, we want to keep the latest version only and wipe out previous history once a project is finished. History is useless to us after a project is finished.
It looked into subversion, but it doesn't allow to remove anything from the repository. I need to perform this workaround here.
One easy way is creating a separate repository for each project. When the project is over, save the latest version to archive and wipe out the repository. The number of active projects is about 50 - 100. Is there any issue with creating one repository per project?
Does anyone know if there is a way to make the new Package Explorer window in Flash Builder emulate Flex Builders 'Flex navigator' window?
Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
i'm trying to source a flash front end mp3 player, setup so that the user can change what songs play simply by changing lines in a text file (or similar, even something like 1.mp3, 2.mp3, etc). Whatever works.
I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?
I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image
I need to find a flash video player that is free and open source. I love flowplayer and jwplayer but we fit into their most expensive licenses. It will cost us over $1400 to license flowplayer for our use. We don't have that right now.
I just need a flash player with a basic javascript api that is truly free. I have been googling for hours and nothing so far.
It would be a huge plus if someone knows of a chromeless youtube player that uses the youtube as3 api. I don't have time right now to code an entire chromeless player complete with all the controls and a progress bar.
I am using OSMF-Strobe Player for videos and I am trying to put my company's name below the video player as in the picture. how do I go about doing the same ? I dont have much knowledge about actionscript but with some online tutorials I can always manage.
I'm completely new to Flash and actionscript, so please bare with me. But I'm in a bind, so I thought I'd give this a shot.I'm needing to play a commercial before playing an actual video on my company's website. Once the commercials ends, I'd like for the video to start automatically. Is there an open souce (free) flash player that will let me do this?I've watched a tutorial on how to do so, but when I try to make it work with a player, it never works.
I am using the flex flv player component and i want to be able to skip 5 seconds forward and backwards , at the moment from what i understand from the documents it is not acurate because the movie can only skip to keyframes sometimes making the skip 6 or 7 seconds. the same goes to cue points which the flv might miss the actual point if there is no keyframe there/ my question is there any other way to use the player in a more accurate manner ? since i see on the web players that can do these skipps
