View 1 RepliesI have a TextInput for a user to enter their Date of Birth. Right now they just enter a string of numbers and I parse it for the correct values but this can be very inefficient. What I am looking to do is have the TextInput automatically formatted to look --/--/---- so the user can click in it and fill in the '-' fields while leaving the '/' for formatting purposes. Does anyone know of a good way to do this?
View 2 RepliesI have a date field in my RSS XML field. I would like to display just the month and day in my Flash rotator. How can I parse just the data I need?
XML:
PHP Code:

I would like to only display: Aug. 18
I'm currently using a datefield compinent to assess a window for customers to have work done. Problem is, automatic e-mails generated by my ASP server page look a little bit shoddy when they are received because of the long format of the selectdate variable return:Mon Feb 7 00:00:00 GMT+0000 2005Is there an easy way to perform this formatting or would i need to use a string function to substring the field?
View 5 RepliesI'm attempting to make an RSS feed for my new site's news, and i've looked online at adding a date stamp but i guess you have to make a new namespace or whatever and it confuses me to shambles when i try to read all that. so i have my current rss file as so:[code]Anyway, this isn't very friendly to read the date, as seen in the
tag. i need to output the date to flash in the form of 6-26-05. how would i go about doing that from the pubDate in the item?
View 1 RepliesIm trying to format the date format that is sent from Flash as a variable to php.
This is the code:
[Code].....
The problem is that it format and send the "today" date when it should send the selectedDate in the DateField component.
I take a date (as a string data type) from the user. Now, I want to know if there is a a function in actionscript that will convert it to a date format. Right now, I am just parsing the string and concatenating the pieces back together. i.e.:
changeDateString = date.getFullYear().toString() + '/' + (date.getMonth()+1).toString() + '/' + date.getDate();
But for months like May, it will return "5" and not "05". I have similar problems for days like "9" or "7." Is there something in the library that will do this for me? (For the moment, I can go ahead and manually concatenate the "0" in front, but this seems like a hassle to do.)
In Flex/ActionScript 3, is there a better way to monitor the date/time to determine if the date has changed to the next day by creating a timer that dispatches every minute?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to change the selected date text-color.
<fx:Style>
.dateChooser{
selection-color:#000000;
}
</fx:Style>
I changed my selected date (FEB 23) selection-color to black, but I also need to change the text-color, let's say to white.
I have a situation where I have a date in this format.
Code:
var currentDate : String = "09/22/09"
and I want to be able to change this dynamically to the next date.like you had currentDate +1. The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.
newDate = Wed Sep 22 00:00:00 GMT-0500 1909
I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.
im using a custom component for date time, it is 12 hours and am/pm format,Now i wat to show 24 hour format in numeric stepper and am/pm should be disabled.heres my code
<mx:Script>

[Bindable] private var _selectedDate:Date = new Date();
[code].....
my date of string like (2009-12-03 21:05:00) date with time . so i used to store var newdate:Date=new Date(Date.parse(startdate)); but shows some errors.and also i tried to split string(date) used date function likevar datenumber:Number= (new Date(Date.parse(startdate))).getDate();
View 1 RepliesDoes anyone know how to get actionscript to render a null date value '000:00:00T00:00:00'? I am calling a web service that expects date fields in the SOAP xml. I need some of these dates to serialize as null and I can't see how to produce null. The closest value I can get is '1899-11-30T00:00:00Z'. Below is the code I am using:

I need to create a timeline between 2 given dates, ie:2006-01-20 - 2009-02-14
The timeline must be drawn on a given width (can be altered), ie: 600px
But I need to add markers, one on year beginning, and others 4 times during the year (each 73 days aprox)
I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
I think I'm having difficulties thinking of the right way to word this question in the search box: I'm looking for a way to change the way a new class is formatted when I create a new class in Flash CS5. I'm very particular with my formatting, especially the placement of curly braces, and I hate the default way AS3 classes are formatted.
View 1 RepliesI define a global variable in a swf and then launch a child window which will alter the value of the global variable and I want the parent to detect that event and take specific action. How should I go about this? Can global variables launch events?
View 1 RepliesI have a movie clip on my stage and it is named quest. Within quest, there are several frames representing the entire game (it's a text based adventure). Every once in a while, there will be an inventory item in one of those frames that has the ability to be dragged and dropped into the inventory box (which is a seperate movie clip on the main stage).
All of that works fine, however, since the movieclip that can be dragged was defined in the 'quest' movieclip, once the user needs to move on to the next frame in the quest panel, the inventory item disappears from the inventory box.
I define a global variable in a swf and then launch a child window which will alter the value of the global variable and I want the parent to detect that event and take specific action. How should I go about this?
View 3 RepliesGuys how do you watch for change in a Global variable? This is the code I am using which watches for change. (only the local variable)
// Declaring the variable
myVar = "AtoF";
// Callback that will be triggered every time there is a change

Do you know any way to compare a date to a range of date using the Date class in as2.
For example i want to know a given day (11-12-2009) is among the start and end date of a given range (11-01-2009 to 11-20-2009).
I am a rank Flash newbie, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. In InDesign or Illustrator, if I want to change every red object to blue, I can go into the color list, edit the red color to the blue values, and every instance of red in the document reflects the edit. I don't have to select each red element and pick the new blue for stroke and/or fill.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to have a global variable in my main movie, and when certain external swfs load in, it change the value of the variable?
View 2 RepliesI have a form in which i add two dates

I want to know how i validate that the selected start date is always less than end date(actually an expiry date).
I am trying to change the frame of a movie clip when the date changes to a specific date. For instance, on September 11 I was the movie clip to go to frame 2. I have this code, but not sure how to manipulate it.[code]...
View 1 RepliesSay for instance you have a weekly competition and the next draw for the competition is on the 29 January 2010, how would I create a weekly updater so that once the 29th January arrives the following friday "date" is displayed.
View 1 RepliesOk here's the deal, I'm working with Flash MX and wrote this script:
Code:

localtime = timeDataObj.getDate();

I am trying to create a flash banner which will have all the festivals in a year. I am giving it a time period for example 20th - 27th dec. for christmas. 28th to 1st jan for new years. So on these dates and time the banner will automatically change its image or animation
View 1 RepliesHow can I, by action scripting, halt the timeline of my movie until we reach certain date?
I want my movie to stay in frame 2 until Christmas day, but I can get my script to work.
I need to create a global var in AS3 so that I can create the var on the main timeline and change it within another movie clip.
