Jul 9, 2009In Flex/ActionScript 3, is there a better way to monitor the date/time to determine if the date has changed to the next day by creating a timer that dispatches every minute?

Sep 22, 2009I have a situation where I have a date in this format.
Code:
var currentDate : String = "09/22/09"
and I want to be able to change this dynamically to the next date.like you had currentDate +1. The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.
newDate = Wed Sep 22 00:00:00 GMT-0500 1909
I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.

Apr 13, 2010I have a movie clip to display a clock and a datagrid for showing my schedule. I want my flash to alarm with sound when the time from the clock match one time on the schedule. Here is my actionscript:

As you can see, I use onEnterFrame to listen and check matching between time on clock and schedule but it will check all the time and when it alarmed it produced sound all the time while the time is matched. I would like my flash to alarm only one or few times.

Mar 25, 2011I'm working on a drag-drop solution, and acting when a item is dropped on the current target (let's say an "intelligent chess-board") is a breeze, as the board fires DragEvents when items are hovering over on dropped on the it.
What I'm looking for is a way to make the board act when an item is dragged OFF the itself. Of course - when the item is dropped somewhere else, I could fire an event there and tell the board that change has been done. But this is what I want to avoid.
I wonder if there is some way to monitor a change in the displaylist of the "board", so it fires an event when a child/element is removed from "outside"?

Practicly, every visitor will see the same size of the site, even if he has 800x600 or 1280x1024??Maybe making html go fullscreen but make the swf occupy only 80% of the screen, so it always have the same proportion to the users monitors.Do you have any example?

Sep 29, 2009I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
Flex :: 'fake' Multiple Series For Single Chart Or Same DateTime Axis For Multiple Charts?
Apr 11, 2011I want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........

Dec 31, 2010I'd like to open a window in my AIR/Flex application on a second monitor if it's available. Don't know how to go about it. Tried this:mySecondWindow.x = Capabilities.screenResolutionX;
But this only gets the size of the first monitor and if I try to assign a greater value, it switches to default 100px offset. Is there a proper approach to this? My native screen is maximized in "preinitialize" and then I open the second window on "applicationComplete".

Mar 3, 2011My Flex application (SWF) initialization takes 25 second to load 1.6mb SWF in widescreen monitor. The same SWF loads pretty fast (3 Sec) in Flat panel monitor 1024x768 resolution. What is the reason for +/- in rendering speed , +/- in CPU utilization on different monitors , screen resolution.
note: my internet sepped is 10+ mbps broadband.

Flex :: SOAP Variables In Network Monitor But Not Making It To Event Handler
Aug 13, 2009I am querying a 3rd party web service and not all the data seems to be making it to the event handler. When I view the request/response in the Network Monitor I see a collection of data objects each containing two string variables (name, url) and two arrays (counts, breakdown). When the result handler receives the data and I view it in debug mode, the collection of data objects each only contains one string variable (name). What happened to the other string var (url) and both arrays (counts, breakdown)? what would cause this since it seems to becoming corrupt before it reaches the event handler but after it is received by the network? Is this most likely an IDE issue?
