Flex :: DateTime - Converting Seconds To Readable English
Mar 23, 2010For example :
input = 360 seconds
output = 6 minutes
input = 86400
output = 1 day
Is there a built-in method for this.

I'm trying to read out some BitMapData into some kind of readable output.
Reason for this is I'd like to trace out the ByteArray and hopefully cut and paste its details into an .as file and then compare it against another BitMapData Object or byteArray that is generated within the app.
Basically I want to compare differences between the two and report back how many pixels or something are different.
It might seem like a strange or approach.
I can create a BitMapData Object, it traces back as [object BitMapData] - so I thought awesome just loop through the Object... But looping through the Object traces nothing at all back out.
So I tried to create a ByteArray and then convert that to a string, but all I get is wierd 'y' chars with two dots on the top of the char.
I've left some code below,
Code:
public function GetAndCompareBitmapData(target:DisplayObject) {
var bd:BitmapData=new BitmapData(target.width,target.height);
trace("bitmapData "+ bd); // trace [object BitMapData]
[Code].....
I ones surfed by a site where i could write text in one field, and then press a button which then converted the text (all special letters) to flash, in another field! you know: & = %26.
View 5 RepliesIs there anything wrong with following snippet of code?
var d:Date = DateField.dateToString(myDateField.text,"DD/MM/YYYY");
testTextArea.text = d.getSeconds().toString();
Error: Implicit coercion of a value of

What is the best way to convert a string to DateTime? The format of the string is dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss.
View 1 RepliesI have a gameloop, where I used to calculate the timedifference in seconds for time based movement.
ActionScript Code:
var currentTime:int = getTimer();
var currentTimeDeltaInSeconds:Number = (currentTime - _lastTimeUpdated) / 1000;
now I've decided I want to use Miliseconds, so it looks like this:
ActionScript Code:
var currentTimeDeltaInMiliSeconds:Number = currentTime - _lastTimeUpdated
So I've converted speed variables, by dividing them with /1000, it looked like this before:
ActionScript Code:
var currentTimeDelta:Number = 0.036 ; // in seconds
var speed:Number = 50;
[code]...
- But the result is still not identical, position is still 1000x more, I know it has to do with multiplying the velocity with the timedelta, which is 1000 times greater with miliseconds, but I dont understand why is it like this?
In Flex/ActionScript 3, is there a better way to monitor the date/time to determine if the date has changed to the next day by creating a timer that dispatches every minute?

I need to create LineChart that display datetime points, for example:
public var stockDataAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection( [
{date: "2005,7,27,22,15,30", close: 41.71},
{date: "2005,7,27,22,16,30", close: 42.21},

Inside a flex app, I have a user login. The login calls a ColdFusion function as a remote object which authenticates the user and, if applicable, returns their id and access level. This works fine, but now I'm at the point where I want to also create a cookie for another ColdFusion template (called from fileReference.upload()) to be able to access later. I have tried several different methods for creating the cookie -- cfcookie, creating a cookie with JavaScript inside the ColdFusion function, and creating the cookie with JavaScript with an external interface once the coldfusion function returns to the flex result handler. All of these have been tried with a plethora of options regarding expiration, path, and domain tags.

I'm trying to compile a decent .zwl file for squiggly spell checking in Flex; using British words, not American as supplied by default.
Ive managed to create a decent British list of words and ran them through the AdobeSpellingGen app to get a .zwl; great stuff.
However i need to add into this list a list of names, so they wont be flagged.
Does anyone know of a good source of either free, or paid for list of English Fore and surnames? Im trying BT as i type :)
I'm trying to add a running timer to my flash movie. I've got it now so that it counts seconds (by comparing _currentframe with the frame rate), but I'd like to be able to express that in minutes:seconds.

View 1 RepliesI would like to find an actionscript library that can take strings like:
Two days
2h
one month
a week
and parse them into duration (returning the time in some unit). It seems like it's been done so many times before and I'd hate to implement such a thing myself. If not in actionscript then in python (I can run this on the server side I guess).
I want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........

View 1 RepliesI have a timestamp in the form "1239315541" and I need to convert it to a readable date.How can I do that ? Is there a function that I can use ?(I am using Flash 8 and ActionScript 2.0.)
View 3 RepliesSo I have a flashobject which I need to pass a formatted DateTime string to.
My code:
string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");
which outputs as: 2009-09-16 22:26:45
However when it is actually output to HTML and swfobject it renders it as:
so.addVariable("inNowDate","2009-09-16+22%3a25%3a13");
I think this is messing up a calculation that the flash object does based off the current time. Do I need to encode or decode this?
So I know that my server on real form submit turns %CE%EB%E5%E3+%DF%EA%F3%F8%EA%E8%ED into Олег Якушкин . How to peform string transfer from Олег Якушкин into %CE%EB%E5%E3+%DF%EA%F3%F8%EA%E8%ED using ActionScript? (Its ok if a space character as %20, not + , PHP should handle that fine.)

I'm looking to port some DateTime functionality from ActionScript 3.0 over to Java/Android. I am currently looking at Joda. Before going with this option I wonder if there are actually any implementations of the DateTime object with ECMA-262 3rd Edition compliance? Or is there a better option (smaller/lightweight) solution to achieve this?

I have a massive json object that I return from my php script. The object holds strings as well as variables that are of type php associative array. When i trace my json object it's totally not formatted and not readable by human. However If I use a free online json formatter, it looks good. My question is if there is an easy way to trace out all properties and their contents in an easily readable way using as3?
View 2 RepliesI'm getting a data which contains a certain number.
I need to find how many hours, minutes and seconds it stands for.
for example:
I'm getting the number 248 which means:
00 hours : 04 minutes : 08 seconds
When i use time varaible and then minus the time. Ive noticed that flash does not count down in seconds, but the speed of light. My maths are not very strong so how can i get flash to count in seconds
var time =60;
sprite.onEnterframe = function(){
time -=1; ( this counts faster than seconds)
}
I'm trying to figure out how I can make the sound file that I load into Flash start at x seconds and end at x+30 seconds.So basically, I just want a 30 second sample to play starting at a specific time position. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this or have links to somewhere I can read up on it?
