I'm looking to port some DateTime functionality from ActionScript 3.0 over to Java/Android. I am currently looking at Joda. Before going with this option I wonder if there are actually any implementations of the DateTime object with ECMA-262 3rd Edition compliance? Or is there a better option (smaller/lightweight) solution to achieve this?
View 1 RepliesI need to load somehow the html code of a webpage A into a javascript string of another webpage B, on a different host. I know this is impossible to do with javascript alone because of the same origin policy, and I know I could do it loading the page via php on my server and then send results back to the user's client but I wouldn't be able to handle so many requests, so I need it to be done directly by the user's browser. I can use nearly whatever browser scripting language/applet framework common enough to be installed on the majority of my users' computers, like flash and java.On example, what if I use flash or java to load the external html code and then call a javascript callback function providing the source? Could this work?
View 2 RepliesI don't have a webcam at this computer, and unless someone sends me one, or upps my monthly salary from $100, I won't be getting one any time soon. Sadly, there is some code I would like to test which requires a webcam. Is there any way to (either with Windows, or preferably via AS code) make Flash player believe I am using a webcam, and pass in whatever bitmapData I want the virtual webcam to see? This would be great for more uses than just being a cheapskate.

I need to convert Java regular expressions into Actionscript regular expressions. There apparently aren't any premade converters, so I'm trying to write one myself. Is there any resource that'd list all the differences? I'm aware of regular-expressions.info, but there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive listing of differences there.
View 2 RepliesI've been trying to understand how flash animations or a Java Applet work within a browser. I can think of a couple of ways - The Flash Player/Java Applet are machine code that's dynamically linked it, and given some parameters about the area of the screen that belongs to them; after that, they run within the same process space. The browser exposes an API that the player/applet use to talk to it and they live in a separate process. (Presumably they talk via sockets?) The API could correspond to openGL/X11/some custom calls.
These possibilities still don't explain things like how a button click can make the player full-screen, how it can play music, how it can inspect the DOM, etc. For that matter, is the video displayed by decoding to a sequence of images, and rendering them one at a time, or is there a more efficient way, e.g., of pushing the deltas in the image? The Wikipedia page on Java Applets
(1) talks about how the applet is run in a sandbox (presumably a separate process), but it doesn't say how the browser and the applet communicate. Perhaps the answer depends on the underlying platform?

However when it is actually output to HTML and swfobject it renders it as:

I think this is messing up a calculation that the flash object does based off the current time. Do I need to encode or decode this?

i need to change it so that it will call a different movie clip each time the clip is viewed, using the time (so that the movieclip will be a new one every time a user refreshes the page or sees the flash again).
For example :
input = 360 seconds
output = 6 minutes

output = 1 day

View 2 RepliesI want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........

I tried with flex and java in the backend. In this, I am able to upload files till 100 MB using remote object (blazeDs) where we will read the file as byte array and send it to the java method. If the file size exceeds after that, then I get the run time error in IE.

When i make a small change in Flex code (eg, reposition of a button...anything), and run the project on server, it does make any change on output. Actually it depends on my luck... because it makes change in output randomly.what is is happening? tried rebuild, republish, clean , restart server, restarting the IDE, restarting the computer all available feature i could think. Then i got a Flex service class calling BlazeDS and executing the getCategories java method. Since Flash dosn't seem to understand typed arrays, the result from that method which i get back in flex is a simple array of untyped objects (the mapping dosn't seem to work here, even tought the class category exists in flex and has the same properties).
thats the first thing. but however, i'm converting the untyped objects manually into objects of the category.as class. the second thing is that categories have child-categories within the java object, which are also ArrayLists of the type category.java. the problem about that: my result event object only contains the first level of categories, looking into them the children are allways null. i dunno why they are empty, since they ARE part of the java object category.
and the third thing (the strangest by fast), you maybe noticed i named the properties of the category.java class strange, like idCat and nameTest instead of simply id and name. why that? because the property names of my flex result objects dont seem to change when i change the java objects properties names (result object properties are named "id" and "name" but the java class object properties are named "idCAT" and "nameTEST"). that it REALLY strange, since if i set the properties, like you see at nameTEST = "TESTNAME" it IS recogniced by flex, only the proertyNAMES dont seem to be recognized at all.

I'm coding a web app in flex blazeds and Java. I installed the Eclipse plugins for using WTP mixed project. I'm using flex's server that uses an emulate of tomcat when i ran my flex service the web app got the datas, everythings is ok. the problem is when i copy the project with all files generated by flex in my tomcat or the blazeds's tomcat, it doesn't work, this is becasue i want to implement my app on a server the error is:[code]
