Html :: Swf Adaptative Resolution, Change Depending User's Monitor?
Aug 22, 2011
Is it posible to make a flash site, which will change the size when the vistors resolution is diferent? Practicly, every visitor will see the same size of the site, even if he has 800x600 or 1280x1024??Maybe making html go fullscreen but make the swf occupy only 80% of the screen, so it always have the same proportion to the users monitors.Do you have any example?

Anybody has an idea how to accomplish something similar with the gallery in this website?
I have an XML gallery in my project that has pre-specified numbers of columns.
- How it could be possible to detect user's screen resolution (use of Event.RESIZE?) and according to this to change the number of columns - and of course rows?
Forgot to mention that I load records from a database so I am not aware of the total number of images...

i have the following problem: when i publish my site (all in flash) with stage.scalemode=exactfit parameter, the page is stretched; while when i use the scalemode=noborder parameter, the page is cropped below;
what i want is the site adapting itself to the width of the screen (with no borders on the sides),maintaining proportions and so allowing down scrolling; I haven't found any answer around the web to this apparently simple issue

I had done a swf content for some major resolution ..flash800.swf,flash1200.swf,flash1600.swf. I load a swf at first which detects the x resolution of a screen and then loads appropriate content. the problem is that tke decision-making swf loads that flash movie into itself , so I have to do the checking resolution swf the maximum width and height the same as in the biggest (flash1600.swf) movie loaded into it....that makes all my work meaningless.

I am thinking of having 2 diff. versions of images in an XML driven photo gallery. The flash movie is full browser (no scale) with elements that adjust to the size of the browser window. I'd like some of the images to be presented pretty large, but only if the user has enough screen resolution. If using a smaller screen, then it would display the smaller version.
Anyway to do this efficiently (yes I am prepared to upload 2 different versions of each image)? Or is this a bad idea with too much maintenance?

In my application the browser window connect with long polling(comet) with the server. If the user open several browser tabs, only one of them(called the master) communicate with the server and serves as a proxy for the other tabs. I want to use flash localConnection to exchange data between the tabs. What happens when a user closes the master tab that holds the comet session? I can use javascript with the unload event to inform the other tabs that the master tab is closing and then close the localConnection but the unload event is unreliable. I can use polling to monitor the master tab connection object but it sound dirty.
When the master is closed one of the other tabs need to become the master. How do I make sure only one of them tries to become the master? If a user close the tab without flash being able to close the localConnection, will it cause a memory leak?

I have a movie clip to display a clock and a datagrid for showing my schedule. I want my flash to alarm with sound when the time from the clock match one time on the schedule. Here is my actionscript:
Code:
clock_mc.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (_root.timer[i]==_root.clock_mc.clock_txt.text.substr(0,5)) {
alertSound = new Sound(alertSoundMc);
[Code]....
As you can see, I use onEnterFrame to listen and check matching between time on clock and schedule but it will check all the time and when it alarmed it produced sound all the time while the time is matched. I would like my flash to alarm only one or few times.

I'm working on a drag-drop solution, and acting when a item is dropped on the current target (let's say an "intelligent chess-board") is a breeze, as the board fires DragEvents when items are hovering over on dropped on the it.
What I'm looking for is a way to make the board act when an item is dragged OFF the itself. Of course - when the item is dropped somewhere else, I could fire an event there and tell the board that change has been done. But this is what I want to avoid.
I wonder if there is some way to monitor a change in the displaylist of the "board", so it fires an event when a child/element is removed from "outside"?

Is there any way to scale up stage according to user's screen resolution?
because:
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
and width: 100% in html document
doesn't work when screen is widther than flash site.
I managed to size up stage in AS2 but I have no idea how to do that in AS3.

I am developing a flash website that will dynamically fit to the size of the end-users' browser and screen resolution. I have a 2100 X 1400 Background I'd like scaled to 100% of the screen size.
So if the user's resolution is 1680 X 1050, the image would scale to that size.
However, another problem arises - I do not want the image to "stretch" or lose quality, and that it must maintain the same aspect ratio. How can I do this?

I have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.

I have a flash project where I have two movies that are supposed to synchronize, depending on user choices. Most of the time they do, randomly they do not. So I thought perhaps there is something wrong with the code I am using.
Code:
on (press){
this.movie1.gotoAndPlay(random(this.movie1._totalframes));
if(this.movierandom.enabled == false){
this.movie2.gotoAndPlay(this.movie1._currentframe);
}}
What's supposed to happen is, when the button is pressed, movie1 goes to a random frame and plays. If movierandom is not enabled, movie2 is supposed to go to the same frame as movie1 and play. Movie1 and movie2 have the same number of frames. Occasionally, movie2 goes to a different frame.

I am making a game in AS3 / Adobe AIR that requires the user to react to certain sounds. Is there a way to inform the user up front if the system volume is muted? Moreover, is there a method to change the volume? If not, does an external cross-platform application exist that lets me monitor the volume and that I can call from Adobe AIR?
