Can flash detect monitor res, or any other system resources (processor speed, browser, pop-up blocker, memory, etc.)?? I know there are secutity issues, but i would like to create a detect/launch page for some eLearning courseware. I currently use javascript to do this but would like to use flash.

what i want is the site adapting itself to the width of the screen (with no borders on the sides),maintaining proportions and so allowing down scrolling; I haven't found any answer around the web to this apparently simple issue

Practicly, every visitor will see the same size of the site, even if he has 800x600 or 1280x1024??Maybe making html go fullscreen but make the swf occupy only 80% of the screen, so it always have the same proportion to the users monitors.Do you have any example?

Screen class in actionscript provides the latest total screen bounds and available screen bound, but doesn't allow to attach listener to listen for changes on runtime.
is there any way of detecting screen resolution changes on runtime, it is required to size the application whenever screen resolution is changed. e.g. in case when machine display is connected to projector/high resolution monitor and then switched back to normal.
I am trying to figure out how to stop a user from resizing the page below 800x600. I have found how to load a new url or swf when below a certain resolution but is it possible to load a frame or movie when the resolution is resized below 800x600 and goes back to the previous frame if resized back above 800x600? I have symbols attached to the corners of the stage. Resizing looks terrible.

I am thinking of using Javascript to monitor the window close event, if a window that was connected to the server is closed, one of the other windows will try to connect to the server. The TV is a widescreen Panasonic 42" TH42PH10BK with 1024 x 768 pixels, however when I set my animation to those values it looks 'squarer' than the TV. It looks like I need to set up the animation to a different resolution, but I don't know which!
