Flex :: PlotChart Zoom Error In FindDataPoints Function

I came across this great tutorial on how to zoom into a chart by drawing a rectangle in a LineChart to zoom into it [uRL] but I'm trying to apply it to a PlotChart instead and I'm having issues trying to get the DataTips showing with the following error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at mx.charts.series::PlotSeries/findDataPoints()[E:dev4.5.1frameworksprojectschartssrcmxchartsseriesPlotSeries.as:961]
at mx.charts.chartClasses::ChartBase/findDataPoints()[E:dev4.5.1frameworksprojectschartssrcmxchartschartClassesChartBase.as:2069]

The link mentioned about extending the LineChartSeries and override the findDataPoints() function, but after trying to doing the same for extending PlotSeries.as, sortOnXField seems to be undefined and I don't have access to the PlotSeries.as since it is in a swc. Has anyone tried applying the following to a PlotChart instead and got the DataTips to show? What was the override function in the findDataPoints()?

I'm looking to add(and remove, dynamically) text annotations to the PlotChart. Specifically I want to annotate plot points in the chart. I'm currently using the CircleItemRenderer for the points.I've found tutorials for other plot types, but they don't seem to apply to the PlotChart.

Using flex / air 2.6 working on an Android device, I am using a canvas with a TransformGestureEvent for zoom in on a map. The listening of the efect is working ok, but I canīt seem to find the information on wether the user intended zoom in or zoom out (fingers getting closer or getting apart).I expected the intention of the gesture to be identifiable with the offsetX and offsetY properties of the event, as you will do on a swipe gesture event. But I always get 0 for both properties, no matter how I do the gesture in the device.How can I know if the fingers getting closer or getting apart in a gesture zoom event?

When I programmatically create a PlotChart starting w/ no series and adding series w/ own scaling and verticalAxes (and Renderers but not necessary for behavior error), the axes and data show, but the default axis controls all scaling and the other axes are erroneous. Thus, the yValue magnitudes do not correspond to their associated axes and mixing series w/ grossly different orders of magnitude squishes all but the largest into indistinguishable floor values. I cannot null out the default vertical axis as it gets an null pointer error. [Click anywhere on the chart to add the next series.]

Been trying to get a flash map to zoom in and out but I can't seem to get it working, it'll zoom in fine, but not zoom out.I'm zooming into a particular area of a map (Uganda in this example) with a function for a button, I'm using a boolean value to check if I am zoomed in and it registers whether it's true or false (checking with a dynamic textbox). I have got an open source "Organisation Chart" component in Flex from the below link [URL]..But the component is in Flex 3, and I want the same in Flex 4.When I am trying to run the same in Flex 4, I am getting some weird errors :

I'm currently trying to implement an automated bug reporter for a Flex application, and would like to return error messages to a server along with the function/line number that caused the error. Essentially, I'm trying to get the getStackTrace() information without going into debug mode, because most users of the app aren't likely to have the debug version of flash player.My current method is using the UncaughtErrorEvent handler to catch errors that occur within the app, but the error message only returns the type of error that has occurred, and not the location (which means it's useless). I have tried implementing getStackTrace() myself using a function name-grabber such as [code]
but that will only work because of arguments.callee, and so won't go through multiple levels of function calls (it would never get above my error event listener).Anyone have any ideas on how to get informative error messages through the global error event handler? There seems to be some misunderstanding. I'm explicitly avoiding getStackTrace() because it returns 'null' when not in debug mode.

i've made a button that zooms into a movie clip on a rollover, but it on moves it a certain amount each time you rollover the button. code below:

wot i want it to do is to continue zooming in for as long as the mouse is over the button, is there anyway i can change the code to zoom in at the same amount but do it continuously until the mouse is moved off the button. Also is there anyway that i can set it so that the zoom stops at a certain percentage, i.e. it only zooms in so much and then stops. What i mean is that the user can zoom in but the picture will only zoom in to say 200% of the original size.

I am working on flash application TELESCOPE or Camera. My goal is to move around the scene and zoom-in or zoom-out I found that if I move scene, I have to move registration point, because I always want to zoom in the centre of my ocular. So far application works fine only if I move, zoom-in and than before I move any further, zoom-out! But when I move, zoom-in (not fully), move again and zoom-in again, the second zooming doesn't appear on desirable registration point

#1006: value is not a function. at MethodInfo-43() I don't know what the problem is, or where could it be, here is the problem code, but first a brief description: Every 3 seconds 3 enemies will be created with a random position, the enemies can't be appearing on top of the other so I check if they collide with any previously added enemies, if they do I assign other random coordinates and check again until there is no collision (I'm using the collision detection kit CDK for the collisions[URL]..the first 3 enemies appear correctly but afterwards the error appears and the next time the program enters the generation part the enemies begin appearing in ridiculous numbers.

I am working on some old Flex project (Flex 2.0.1 hotfix 2) and I am rookie in Flex programming.I wrote code for accessing some ASP.NET web service:

I need to pan and zoom swf file. I have work with adobe's zoom component. But it work only with images.
