HTMLText - Image Stacking And Putting Tag On One Line

I have a dynamic text box that reads data from an external file using the htmlText and load() functions. My external file contains HTML code for images. I want to have each image displayed next to each other (side by side). Currently, Flash is rendering my images so they are stacking on each other (ontop of each other). I have even tried putting all of my <a> tag on one line, but it is not working.

I am having a headache adding a simple break tag in xml. My best effort was <br> but it displays <b> literally! I have already activated html on my actionscript using newsBox.html = true; with newsBox being the instance name of my dynamic text field.

For some reason or another, after a </strong> or </em> tag, flash inserts a line break after it.
So it is like this:
This is some BOLD
text and this is some italic
text.
When it should look like this: This is some BOLD text and this is some italic text.

I know you can identify line breaks when working with text files by checking the character equivalent, but is this possible to do with htmlText?
I am making a text editor for my client and I am using the textArea component as the input field with the data stored in an XML. All's well, except for the line break--the textArea is rendered as htmlText so that the client will be able to see the changes made instantly. By default, it works, but the spacing is all screwed up (indents, double-spaces at times), so I decided to condense the whitespace. With this on, it gets rid of the spacing issues since the html is being rendered exactly as coded. The thing is, hitting enter in the textArea does not add <br /> to the htmlText code.
Do i need to overwrite the Enter key with a custom function that inserts a ine break when using the textArea, or is there a way to detect and convert these line breaks in htmlText?

i'm working with externally loaded, html formatted text which employs the <img> tag, wondering if anyone knows a way to force the text directly following the <img> tag to display on a new line starting BENEATH the image in the textField rather than the default behavior of flowing AROUND the image to the right or left? inserting multiple <br> tags works, but that seems like a crappy and way to do it, fills the source file with a lot of <br> tags and requires a trial + error approach to finding the right number.

Is there any way to count line breaks within htmlText? It doesn't look like using
Code:
indexOf("<br>");
will work because the renderer has already created the textfield display by the time this code would run. So there wouldn't be any tags to find, just rendered text.

I'm importing text in from an xml file and i'm using htmlText to try to keep some styling with tags. I have both the regular and bold face font embedded, and the bolding works fine. The problem is that it ads spaces around the words in bold like a paragraph indent and then makes a line-break after them. What's going on, is there a way to fix?

If I pull the text in from a txt file it will work fine, but taking it out of an xml file causing funky formatting.

I store the htmlText property of a RichTextEditor in the database.I retrieve it in another instance and I want to show the user the first line of it as plain textSo I let Flex handle the conversion by using a function like this

Is it possible to capture the image loading event like when the image is fully loaded and such when it is assigned to the htmlText of the textFiel???
I have a scrollPane that contains a textField which is loading an image via img tag where there is no scrollbars initially because the textField is not large enough in the beginning, but it is larger than the scrollPane after the image is fully loaded.. and I am trying to update the scrollPane once the image is fully loaded..

I am in the process of creating an info box Object, which displays one of the five organizational informations, dynamically on the user's choice. All the code is in the associated Class.
I am stuck with one issue. It requires to add an image (from a set of 5 small images) on the top-left corner of the movie; appropriate to the contents. I don't know, how to put the image dynamically.

I'm a beginner at actionscript, as well, but I'm humble and more than willing to be schooled..I have what I hope is an easy question to answer.It is a pretty basic image scroller that has a series of images scrolling across the screen in an infinite loop. Direction is controlled by mouse position (extreme left or right), and it will stop when the mouse is positioned over an image in the center area.Here's the code:

I'm trying to create a countdown timer for my website. I have written a code in ActionScript 2.0 that is working but I have a background that I created in Illustrator onto which I want to embed the timer. So, I have the image and on top of that image is where I would like the numbers to countdown, if that makes any sense?
I've posted the image I am talking about. The bottom half (the box at the bottom) is where I want to put the numbers counting down using Flash.
Is there a specific format that I need to have the imported image in since I have tried jpg, gif, bitmap and none of these allow me to put an action onto it?

i am new to flash and AS and I have created a custom image gallery, where thumbnails appear on the left of my page and once clicked they fade into he screen.however i have so many images that they do not all show on the page, and take up the entire left hand side - i would like to know how i could edit my code so that all the thumbnails (that are loaded from a .xml file) can be put into a scroller box.I would also like to add a function so that the image would close on mouse click of the bigger picture OR when a "close" button is clicked

I have a dynamic text field that I am loading html into. Ok... that works great. My problem lies in the use of the image tag. How do I do something like this: <p>blah dslfjskdjflskdjf </p> <img src="pic1.jpg" width="320" height="180" /> <p>more filler</p> So that the text renders, the pic renders on the line below and the next <p> renders on the line below the picture.

I'm using htmlText property for some text, what I'm doing is 3 images aligned to the left, one under the other, and allow each line of text to be next to one image.Here is the html used:
<img src="image1.png" width="50px" height="50px"/><p>First line to be next to image 1</p>
<img src="image2.png" width="50px" height="50px"/><p>Second line to be next to image 2</p>
<img src="image3.png" width="50px" height="50px"/><p>Third line to be next to image 3</p>
I expect each line to appear right next to the image, but instead of that, when I use the string with textField.htmlText = myString; I get all the sentences next to my image1.png, not each next to their own image. I've tried anything, adding style and putting a height to the p tag, no effect. I'm running out of ideas. This seems rather elementary to achieve, however, it seems very complicate with AS3.

when i insert an image over xml into textfield with htmlText, it automatically makes some kind of padding left and above them image. Is there a way to get rid of that padding?

For some reason, if you add an image to htmlText, like the following:
myText.htmlText = "<img src='"+dataProvider.bodyImage.getUrl('original')+"' align='left' />" + dataProvider.bodyText;
The image will be successfully added to the htmlText, but it seems to measure the sizes completely wrong. At times, the actual text (dataProvider.bodyText) will have part 'hidden' under the image. At other times, there are anywhere from 1 to 4 lines cut off at the bottom. However, if you select the text and drag your mouse down, you can see the bottom lines. It appears the text is all there, but the mx:Text component is not including the image in the textHeight, so it doesnt resize the componenet to the correct size.

My mx:Text's htmlText is the following:
mainText.htmlText = "<img src="breadmaker.png" width="339" height="275" vspace="0" hspace="0" />" + "Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy tex......(more here)"
However, the result looks like the following:ScreenshotAs you can tell, it cuts off the first few characters in the text after the image tag (Lorem Ipsum is sim), but it is only because the image is full width. If I change the img tag to width="200", it shows the text floating to the right.However, as you can tell with a full width image (because the Text component's width is 339), it seems the text is still floating to the right, but it's hidden off to the right side of the image.

i'm making a small "add news" movie for a site in actionscript. When I insert an image in my textField, I can only move the cursor with my keys and not with my mouse anymore. I put the image always in front. I also have to click one time in my textfield, otherwise my text appears under my image. When I click it aligns to the right.

I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded

I've made my site with photoshop and all images are in *.*png, saved with transparency and in the same resolution 1000x750. I exported them into my working file in Flash. No problems here.I've started to put each of the images in separate layers and in stacking order I wish, still no problems.Now, I am about in 20th layers I am inserting the image, again in separate layer and what happened? The layer will cover over the layer which is almost at the bottom. Meaning...only the trasparency which is very strange.

I want to load and unload EXTERNAL SWF that contains FLV on mouse click. Loading and unloading the swf is NOT the issue. The problem is how do i get the external swf which contains an flv to stop playing and stacking up on each other.
I can load and unload the swf's as long as I pause the videos before I click on another thumbnail, but if I click on another thumbnail while the external swf is playing it's flv, the previous flv keeps playing and stack up under the newly loaded swf.

The attachment contains two screen shots of a movie clip timeline. The images consist of a text mask symbol sliding diagonally other a text layer, and a picture button sliding to the left under an aqua blue mask. When I scrub the timeline -- things work great. But when I view the movie via the control menu, the dynamic text is not displayed. The images illustrate the masking layers in unlocked and locked mode.
I'm using CS4.
