View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?
View 1 RepliesI'm working (for my sins) on a Flex 3.3 project, which unfortunately cannot be upgraded to a newer SDK version at this stage, and have hit an issue with the custom hierarchical tree class (subclassing mx.controls.Tree) we're using. Excuse the spelling; the previous developer had a fear of dictionaries...
public class HierachyTree extends Tree
public function HierachyTree()
{[code].....
I'm using a solution somewhere between these two methods (basically, implementing ITreeDataDescriptor) in order to add live text filtering to the component, and it's working so far:
public class HierachyTreeFilteredDataDescriptor implements ITreeDataDescriptor
{
private var filter:Function[code]..........
The issue is that (with tree:HierachyTree) neither tree.maxVerticalScrollPosition nor the protected property tree.verticalScrollBar .maxScrollPosition updates when the search string is changed.I've tried calling invalidateList() and invalidateDisplayList() on tree — and calling invalidateDisplayList() and invalidateSize() on tree.verticalScrollBar — to no avail.
I want to store a filesystem tree into MongoDB within a Ruby application, so we are talking about json/bson representation of something like:
/
/foo
/foo/one
/foo/bar/two
/foo/bar/three
/four
my aim is to store it efficiently and to serve it via json to an Adobe Flex application which will display it in a Tree component. which is the best solution in your opinion? this document suggests some options. i'd like to go for something like the first pattern (keeping in mind the limit of 16Mb document size) with this format:

Created an editable flex grid which exposes a method called getGridData() to javascript. I am using the JSON.encode() method of the [url]....library to convert the grid object's dataProvider into JSON before returning it.
ExternalInterface.addCallback("getGridData", getGridData);
public function getGridData():String
{[code].....
However, when I sort a column in the user interface, the encode method is failing throwing the following error
Property usingCustomCompareFunction not found on mx.collections.SortField and there is no default value.
I am working on Air application,i had a problem on Tree control.Iam adding nodes for the tree dynamically, while adding nodes to the tree i am setting Tree.selectedItem as present added node. after that i need to fire Tree.itemClick event handler method also.how can i call event handler method as a common method. in Flex3
View 1 Replieshow can I refresh the displayed data in a Datagrid when the underlying ArrayCollection changes?
<nmoschitz:dataProvider>
<mx:HierarchicalData source="{arrCol_groupedData}"
childrenField="accounts"/>
</nmoschitz:dataProvider>
Calling a simple refresh (like with a simple arraycollection as a dataprovider, or with a refresh on the Grouping Collection) does not work. Also re-assigning the arrayCollection to the Hierarchical Data and then assigning this one again to the Datagrid does not work (even with calling invalidateProperties() or validateNow()).
I am developing a tool to create dynamic hierarchical charts. I am able to create object i.e circles and link it dynamically. I want to set properties for those objects.
View 1 RepliesI have an AdvancedDataGrid with a HierarchicalCollectionView as its dataProvider. When I view the grid with the dataset I'm working with, and click the header of the column I wish to sort on, everything works perfectly. It sorts it hierarchically exactly how I would expect it to.What I want to do now is have the grid already be sorted when it is shown to the user. Is there a way to do this programatically? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this, and clearly it's possible since the AdvancedDataGrid has this built in.[code]This appears to do something as far as sorting goes, but it doesn't sort it in the same way as clicking the column header. "startDate" is a property of an object in theDataSource by the way.
View 2 RepliesI will implement this myself if I can't find it but after 30 minutes of searching on the web I'm a bit surprised this doesn't exist. Basically what I need is a hierarchical list component like the finder app on mac. I want the same functionality as a tree component but displayed as each level having it's own list resulting in multiple lists that depend on each other.
View 1 RepliesFollowing is the sample code. While I start editing either in optionId column or option column, the other rows of the same column are also get affected and reflecting the same value. But when I am editing in other columns it is working fine... Don't know the reason.

I am working on a Flex AdvancedDataGrid with a flat ArrayCollection dataProvider. The requirement is that when the root nodes is closed, the root row should show a subtotal data and when the root nodes is opened, not show the subtotal data.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a Flash AS2 application that needs to post JSON data to a web service.In previous projects, I've used LoadVars.send() or LoadVars.sendAndLoad() successfully to manage this:
var send_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
send_lv.data = JSON.stringify({some json object});
var response_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
response_lv.onData = function(rawdata) {
[code]....
In somepage.php, I can grab that JSON data using $_POST['data'].However, on this project, the developer of the web service requires the JSON content to be the BODY of the request (i.e., not a name/value pair). Is this possible with LoadVars?
I'm new to JSON. This is the .json I want to decode but I always get this error:

I have a pure ActionScript 3 problem, but the simplified test case I've prepared is in Flex 4 for better visibility (the source code is below): Since Flash Player 11 / AIR 3 support JSON natively, I've decided to move a multiplayer game, which used XML for communicating with server, to JSON. But I have a frustrating problem, that given two Objects like
[Code]...
I am sending a request to a server, and in return I get a long block of JSON.
{
"response":"success",
"assignments":{
"17733":{
"asnid":"17733",
[code]....
Is there a way to do this? I checked if the property was enumerated and it returned true, but I cant find a way to access this data.
I have to work with webservices in Actionscript. I found the following code that allows me to use JSON URLs that implement only the GET method. However, it doesn't work for POST methods (doesn't even enter the "onComplete" method). How can i "POST" JSON data using Actionscript 3.0?
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
[code]....
In flex 3 I have a hierarchical data structure. I would like to display the content of it in a tree. My problem is that I have nodes which data calculated from children nodes. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?
I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)
[URL]
The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
I was wondering if someone could explain or point me in the direction of how to implement an API that uses JSON in ActionScript 3.0. What I specifically want to know is how would I grab specific information. The following is how I do it in XML but I don't know how I would do something similar in JSON as in getting the equivalent of an XML tag. For example with the twitter API I'd like to grab the text [URL]
[Code]....
api_result = '{"response":[{"uid":1969258,"first_name":"Walle","last_name":"Woo"}]}';
var myobj:Object = JSON.decode(api_result);
So, how I can get uid, first_name and last_name from "response" array?
Is there some library for flex, that will let me: define properties to fully exclude from serialization define classes to serialize without the property names (as if they were an array)
View 1 RepliesAlthough iPhone support JSON natively, AMF is a binary protocol and it supposes to use much less bandwidth. Do you think using AMF is a good idea?Just found this AMF library in cocoa (Objective-C):Here's the famous benchmark that shows AMF is smaller and faster than JSON + gzip in Flex:
View 5 RepliesI have a json file on my server.[URL].. If I type the url into a browser I get a page not found error.
If I set the url of a http service to the path of the json file the httpservice wont load it.
Is it possible to load a json file in this way or does the json file have to be the result of a server page request eg: [URL]..
I have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?
Code:
stop();
MovieClip(lion_mov).stop();
//video Mouse Click[code].....
Frame 3 just includes all the mouse clicks for the tree.
I am trying to return results from my SQL database, using PHP to convert it into JSON, which is then read by Flex. Here is the parse error I receive -

I'm using Flex 4 for building the communication to Arduino. There are three (3) main values coming from it (X,Y,Z). Here the Flex's code
newText.text = magnetic.readUTFBytes(magnetic.bytesAvailable);
d = JSON.decode(newText.text);
MNx = d["x"];
MNy = d["y"];
MNz = d["z"];
Is there any example or codes (in Flex) that can I create and save these values as a TXT file (data.txt). These values as a structure should be like below.

I'm using Flex 4. Have PHP backend and mysql database with one table consisting of multiple rows. I take the raw data from the result event and decode it using JSON. I then dump the data into an ArrayCollection that I use as my datagrid's data provider.
My question is how can I tell when someone inserts a new row into the mysql table so that I can automatically refresh my ArrayCollection, thus seamlessly updating my datagrid one element at a time? Right now, it's just a one time call and the connection is closed. If someone inserts a new row into the database my program doesn't recognize, unless I restart it. I'd like to auto-update the AC whenever a single new row is inserted into the mysql database. Is there a way I can "listen" for this change?
I have the below Json (wf.json)

I'm trying to POST some JSON data using Adobe Flex but having some problems. I'm now getting the error message "A URL must be specified with useProxy set to false", even though I do have useProxy set to false.
Update : code below is now working.
