Following is the sample code. While I start editing either in optionId column or option column, the other rows of the same column are also get affected and reflecting the same value. But when I am editing in other columns it is working fine... Don't know the reason.

I am working on a Flex AdvancedDataGrid with a flat ArrayCollection dataProvider. The requirement is that when the root nodes is closed, the root row should show a subtotal data and when the root nodes is opened, not show the subtotal data.

When I view the grid with the dataset I'm working with, and click the header of the column I wish to sort on, everything works perfectly. It sorts it hierarchically exactly how I would expect it to.What I want to do now is have the grid already be sorted when it is shown to the user. Is there a way to do this programatically? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this, and clearly it's possible since the AdvancedDataGrid has this built in.[code]This appears to do something as far as sorting goes, but it doesn't sort it in the same way as clicking the column header. "startDate" is a property of an object in theDataSource by the way.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use the Spark DropDownList as itemEditor in an AdvancedDataGrid. Howerver, I've stumbled onto two issues:Clicking on a item in the DropDownList changes the selected row in the ADG. You can see this behavior by compiling the code from below and executing the following steps.The value changes from "A" to "C" and Row 3 is the selected row in the ADG. It looks like the mouse click in the DropDownList is also handled by the ADG itself which changes the selected row accordingly. I couldn't figure out a way to prevent this. The expected behavior would be that row 1 is still selected after the DropDownList has been closed.Clicking on the scrollbar of the DropDownList closes the DropDownList. (I just found the solution to this problem in the relatated questions while writing this: Scrollbars in dropdownlist inside DataGrid itemEditor not working)

When not editing the cell, it shows a centered date as plain text. When editing, it shows a DateField editor. The second example is exactly the same as far as I can tell, other than the fact that it is an AdvancedDataGridColumn. Using that code with an AdvancedDataGrid, when I go into edit mode I can see the text from the normal item renderer behind the DateField editor (between the text input and calendar icon).

I know ADG related questions generally get ignored because "it's a crappy component". Indeed, it is not one of my favorite pieces of code ever, but I'm stuck with it and have been working (pretty hard) at optimizing its performance. Turns out there's a fair amount of stuff one can do to make things go fast. One thing I've been stuck on, though, is not to optimize adding an element to the underlying dataprovider. Say you want to add a row to the ADG using a addChildAt call on the DP. All seems well but the operation is so slow - it's unbearable. Now, I realize that the ADG may need to redraw all the stuff below the line added, but seriously, in 2011 that should not take a load of time and 100$ of my CPU. Does anyone know what may be the main culprit?
Note: I'm able to catch the CollectionEvent of kind "add" and not deliver them to the ADG, which I thought would do the trick, but the ADG still updates and takes forever to do so, so I'm guessing there's something else somewhere else.
In flex 3 I have a hierarchical data structure. I would like to display the content of it in a tree. My problem is that I have nodes which data calculated from children nodes. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?
I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)

The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
how can I refresh the displayed data in a Datagrid when the underlying ArrayCollection changes?

Calling a simple refresh (like with a simple arraycollection as a dataprovider, or with a refresh on the Grouping Collection) does not work. Also re-assigning the arrayCollection to the Hierarchical Data and then assigning this one again to the Datagrid does not work (even with calling invalidateProperties() or validateNow()).
I want to extend AdvancedDataGrid to show a Waterfall Chart in one of its columns.
To do that I already created custom cell render that shows bars as I need.
Now I have a little challenge: I have to pre-process data to show my Waterfall Chart properly. I have to do it before my grid is show. So, I assume that I have to extends AdvancedDataGrid and overwrite some methods.
I am trying to display grouped data in AdvancedDatagrid but the data does not show up. When I specify the dataprovider without the grouping collection I am able to see the data. Is there something wrong with this code?

I am building an app for a website that will filter through the shops carrying some products/brands and show the results in a List component. I got all the way up to loading the data, putting brands/countries/cities in comboboxes so a user can filter in which country and city he wants to look and for which brand. No problem till now. My problem is that while the dataprovider works as it should when hardcoding some values to the labels that I use for the item renderer of each entry, I cannot get the real data from the data provider. You will see in the code below, that in the VGroup component (which I use for each shop in the list) there are 4 labels, where 3 of them are hard coded, just to see it works.
One of the labels though is trying to get the real data from the xml file and thats where I stop. In all the tutorials i ve seen (and documentation too) everybody just hits "data.XYZ" where XYZ is the name of the attribute or node to get. Doing the same in my case just returns an error of "1120: Access of undefined property data.". There is also an xml file but its loaded correctly and the different xmlLists DO have the correct nodes stored, so I do not think it needs to be posted, unless you think otherwise. The xml nodes for each shop are "title", "tel","mail","city" and I am stuck trying to get the title. The function that matters the most is the filterShops one and then of course the whole list and itemrenderer block.

The dataProvider for my grid contains several objects. Some of which have a Number value, and some Boolean values under field 'value' (other fields are used in other columns).I would like to be able to render differently for each data-type, i.e. have a checkBox for booleans, and a label for numbers. Furthermore, I would like to be able to edit these fields differently, unchecking the checkbox for booleans, and using a numericStepper for Numbers.
Just FYI, I decided to go with AdvancedDataGrid, to take advantage of the styleFunction property, nothing more..Tried to used spark-states, which didn't seem to work as I'm using an AdvancedDataGrid. I'm not sure what the problem was.
I import XML data in order to fill an AdvancedDataGrid (using Flex 4.5). This ADG is correctly filled with the data, columns display the right information etc. etc.
I would like to summarize this ADG using

But there is a problem! Indeed, the 'Cost' data are imported as 'Strings' and that is why I cannot do the SUM... I just get a nice 0 as a result! I would like to convert these data into Numbers, so that the addition can be processed. This conversion has to be done before filling the ADG I think.
I already tried to implement a custom summaryOperation but was unlucky...

Here am getting array of groups(groupName,GroupID each row ) from a RemoteObject and displaying in a ComboBox. I am selecting the groups with selectedIndex as 0,1,2,3, but I want my groupIDs of correspoding groupnames,which am bringing to client side.

I have a flex datagrid. it is bound to an array collection. if the user sorts on column X it works fine. then, if the user causes the array collection to change, the datagrid forgets that it was sorted on column X.what do I need to do to preserve this sort preference so that the new array data will appear sorted by column X?

However, my data provider is a ListCollectionView that I use to filter items. When I set a filter criteria, it will hide a couple of items from the TileList but there is no animation like when I remove an item. Is there a way to animate the TileList when an item is filtered ?
I need to insert a Box containing some text that appears between the grid header and main content and spans all the grid columns. I've been searching and experimenting (addChildAt()) but no luck so far. Is this possible to achieve?If not, is it possible to dynamically render the text in the header itself, below and spanning the column header text?
View 1 RepliesMy custom item editor opens a titlewindow (too much stuff to show in an inline editor) which obviously steal the focus, so I get a itemeditend event and the datagrid destroy the editor at the wrong (for me) time. I think to have to keep the itemeditor alive until the titlewindow job is done, but how? DataGridEvent reason is "other" and livedocs said preventDefault() can't help.

When a value in the DataGrid is edited, I would like to update several values displayed on the screen, and so want to call a updateValues() function.First, I added this function to itemEditEnd event of the DataGrid, but the function is getting called before the new value is updated into the dataProvider and hence, the values I have in the function are the old values. Is there any other event that is fired after the values are updated into the dataProvider? or am I missing something?Second, I tried putting this function in the change event of each itemEditor (duh!), but then again, the change event is fired, but the values in the dataProvider are the old ones.Is there any way I can make the function updateValues() be called, every time a value is edited AND updated into the dataProvider, because there's where I am taking the values from?

My tweak that I am trying to acoomlish, is to have a custom itemEditor that is a form with two TextInputs and an OK button. For the life of me I can't get that button to trigger the DataGrid's itemEditEnd event where I have some processing before I call destroyItemEditor. I tried dispatching the event myself directly but got a strange error in DataGrid's updateDisplayList saying editedItemPosition was null (editedItemPosition.rowIndex).
