On the bottom layer of the scene, I have the background art and logos.On a second layer, I want to put graphics associated with the button selection of the user.On a third layer I will have the buttons. I want to be able to switch the buttons to another language when a user clicks on a flag at the bottom of the art board, but no matter what language is showing, I want the buttons to call up the related material on the second layer. For instance, I will have one "Install Software" button that will switch to "Software Installieren" when clicking on the German flag and "Installation du logiciel" when French is selected.
I am wondering if there is an easy way to allow the user to change the background image on the stage by clicking a button. I have several different background images (they are just different colors, each on its own layer) and I want to have small buttons of each color that can be clicked to change the background to that color.
How can I make a button that, when pressed, changes a textfield (with a scrollbar) to a different textfield (with a scrollbar) in the same place? Essentially (I think), using a button to swap an element and make it fade in or out.
I have been using Flash for years by the skin of my teeth. I like the asthetics so I can seem to stop using it. Anyway. I just threw this website together using a flash menu at the top and an iframe in the center to change the content. I know I could just re-do the whole site and make it work but I think that I am probably missing a really simple code fix in Flash to make Firefox load the pages in the iFrame. The website is www.greathousefarm.com and I am on a mac so I did it checking Safari and it worked perfect. Than my husband checked it in Firefox and it kept opening a new window instead of loading into the frame. [code]...
Is there a simple code addition I can use to tell Firefox to target the frame?
How can I make that when I press one of the button arrays then a movie clip loads in the frame where it sends me? for example on the company. And then the movie clip unloads and another loads when I click on tutorials? forexample.i just want that clicking a specific array button triggers the appearance of my movieclip in only the frame where the button sends me.ere's the code for the menu:

I created an animated button and copied this six times. i would like to chane the colour of each individual button, but when i do this it changes the colours of all the buttons. how can i do this so it changes the individual the colour of a single button.i need to know how to do this as also later i want to apply different sounds to each button.
I started using Flash again after a "brief" hiatus (the last time I used it, Flash was on it's MX version ).I am trying to create an animation in which I can move across the stage a simple object (a circle, a square or a star, for example) using buttons (left, right, up and down)This was fairly simple using AS 1, even when I was no expert. I followed the tutorial, and all was working nicely, but when I attempted to do the animation from scratch, it simply didn't work .I even used the same names for all the objects and instances, but still nothiing.
I want to populate a series of buttons from and external text file but unsure of how to do so. Lets say I have 5 buttons. Each one with a Var (Target1, Target2, Target3, etc.). How do I change the text on those buttons from and external text file?
iv been trying for awhile now to get a few of the buttons im using on a site to change dimensions when i hover
basically i would like the button background to change dimensions and extend length wise to the other end of the web page whenever the mouseover appears the lenght of the botton extends smoothly and also goes back to its original size smoothly without snapping back
iv read lots of tutorials (got adobe flash cs4 book) but its all about moving images and so forth not really dimensions
if anyone can point out a tutorial or knows how to resolve this
i made it flash. in the actionscript code i use many tweens also to change the scale of some buttons. so when i click button A that loads section A all the other buttons get scaled to 0. then when i click the home button i want those buttons to reappear and function. but my problem is that when i scale them up again they don't function. so in the actionscript of the button A i use a eventlistener for click and then the graphics and the buttons all scale down to 0, then a uiLoader loads some text and i make the home button appear. But when i click the home button and everything reappears, the buttons that once where there don't function any more. Is this normal? how can i fix it. Sorry but i am very new in flash and actionscript.

The program doesn't seem to recognise the button input. I understand you have to give your button an instance name but I'm not sure how to set up the code to recognise this input.
I have a created one complex button that I intend to use more than one. When I copy-paste the buttons in CS3 and try to change the text of just one, the text of every buttons is changed.I right-click on the button and select "duplication symbol" to change the features of the button independantly of the others. However the text never gets duplicated and all of my buttons show hte same text.
Let's say I have about 100+ buttons. They all have the same label. Now I want to change the label for all with a click. I could give them IDs and then run a for loop, but I'm searching for a neater solution.[code]...

These buttons work correctly and advance or reverse in sequencial order (slide1,slide2,slide3,slide4). However the movie can run from start to finish wihtout the use of the navigation. My problem is that if I let the movies run independently and then choose to use the next button while(for example) "slide3" is playing, the movie jumps to "slide1". Note that these slide labels are located within movieclip named "allunits" I know that the variable currentSlide is still equal to 1 thus returning the playhead to label "slide1".
I have an MC with the instance name "building". I want to be able to change the RGB color values of this MC with three buttons for example. for example, one button would change the RGB values to 60 89 159 another button would change the RGB values to 50 251 59 another button would change the RGB values to 22 21 59 And, when the button is clicked, the new RGB color value should fade in without the old values fading out.

I have a bunch of thumbnails which I want to be treated the same on rollover/rollout/press. Right now, I have it working so that the alpha changes on all of them on rollover/rollout/press, but to do that, I have a code for each individual thumbnail, and I know there has to be a way to just have one code that applies to all of them instead of repeating so much (but I'm just not sure how to do it). The script works, but not as hoped. The colour will only change when the user is "clicking" on the button, I want to it keep changing colour until it reaches the 'endColour' variable (like it should) - I have tried doing an "onRelease" statement, but this didn't help either
Secondly, like I said in my preamble, I want it to be able to fade from its current colour to a set colour, eg: I need var startColour to be dynamic, rather than fixed, but I don't know how to read in an objects current colour(!)
I have a nav menu i am building with flash MX 2004 and im using action script to make the background change when nav buttons are rolled over. I currently have a movie clip where the background changes with a motion tween and i used some action script so that depending on the button the specific frame will play and then stop in the background change mc.However after you have done things once they get screwed up and instead of the animation it just changes pictures instantly and the picture is usually incorrect.here is a sample of the actionscript i am using:

what i have is a circle image (for this purpose lets say it looks like a clock). For example: when you click 3 o'clock, the whole clock needs to rotate around with the 3 o'clock btn at the 6 o'clock position (with the pivot point in the centre). each of the 'time' positions (2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock ...etc) needs to be a button and thus be able to rotate around to the 6 o'clock position.This would seem simple enough by just using a.rotate value or using tween movieclips...however the tricky part is:the actionscript needs to determine which way the clock turns (anti/clockwise), dependant on where the clicked time-btn's position is. it needs to be some sort of if statement that says:if (3'oclock-btn) is positioned between 0 degrees (being original 12'oclock position) and 180 degrees (original 6 o'clock position), then rotate clockwise to the 6 o'clock position. If the (3o'clock btn) is positioned between 180degrees and 259 degrees (12 o'clock position), rotate anti-clockwise to the 6'oclock position.
