Jul 30, 2009I need to to a programmatic multi column sorting on the AdvancedDataGrid.The issue is, currently I am implementing paging on my grid. So, if I sort the data,only the perticular page is being sorted. So,I need to sort the entire list by the column criteria.I tried HeaderRelease event,but I guess it is of no use as I need to make a round trip call to the server to get the sorted data.Is there any way I can implement that.I also need to show the sort markers in the Column headers' right position, indicating the sort numbers and direction.

Nov 16, 2010I have a Flex 4, mx:DataGrid with the following (pertinent) properties set:
width="100%"horizontalScrollPolicy="off"
I have the minWidth set on all of the DataGridColumns and the width set on one of them. If I simply maximize/minimize the display (in browser or stand-alone flash player) of the application, the columns scale up and down nicely. But if you grab the edge of the application and drag it to make it bigger, only one column grows really big. When you drag the size down again, the one column remains big, but all of the other columns get squished way down.
IDE :: Creating A Multi Sliding Interface?
Oct 13, 2009I'm pretty new to flash so apologies if i use incorrect terminologies. I'm trying to create a sliding interface set in a manner demonstrated in the diagram below.On MAIN PAGE there will be objects which will enable you to navigate around the site. i.e. if you click on the stick man the movie clip will navigate to the left and location you to the contributors page. If you click on the camera the movie clip will navigate to the right. Click on the TV the Movie will navigate downwards.Each page is only visible when you click on the relevant icon (i.e if you click on the stick man the movie clip slides to the left locating you to CONTRIBUTORS PAGE and MAIN PAGE comes off the screen.
In order to construct a site which navigates this way.......how would i do it and what is the Actionscript for this sliding interface style Do i combine all pages together and make one big movie clip...using script such as.....

Now when I click on the image datgrid column should be editable, for that I am using a textinput as an itemeditor. Now I also want to highlight all those cell for this datagrid column which are having data more than 8 characters. I am able to do this separately using 2 different itemrenderers. But I want to get this all together. Can we have multiple itemrenderer for any datagrid column?

Nov 15, 2010creating an image gallery for my site. Please see my photo link:I want all the thumbnail btns on the left to load the large photos on the right. For 3 of the thumbnails, I need to show more than 1 image so I created numeric btns underneath the large images that will load photo 1, photo 2 etc. The issue that I can only get this to work on layer 1 and 2, when I try to do this for another thumbnail I get this error:"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.t press2_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()"This is the basic script that I am using for all my thumbnails:

Jun 19, 2005I am currently poulating a Flash production for a client with XML generated data, simply so that I can give my client a piece of work which they themselves can update easily. The problem comes from the fact that I could have quite a lot of information hanging around in the form of a multi dimensional array structure where the XML data will be placed after parsing.Ideally I would like the ability to create a delimited Multi-dimensional array, which can dynamically update it's size, without me having to declare an array of 32000 cells each time, which could waste system resources to a stupid proportion.I have tried:-

Aug 25, 2010I am using Flash Professional 8. I tried to create a scrollable textbox, which has two columns, please see attached image (menu.gif). Unfortunately i have to type out the whole text, even though i have the text already formatted correctly using tables in a html file. Also, why is the keyboard tab button not working within a scrollable text box?? Is there a way to activate it? I have been using the space bar to align text within the textbox. And the alignment is not exact!?
Anyway, when i test (Ctrl+Enter) the movie In Flash 8, the two column text formatting is lost and the text is spread out all over the textbox?? It seems at runtime, the text formatting does not apply? I have managed to create tables in html which display the above text exactly how i want it. However, how can this html file be imported into the textbox in Flash 8?
Move Text From One Column To Another Depending On Character Count?
Oct 26, 2009I am trying to find a way to have text start in a specific column depending on the character count.
Basically our site will have 3 columns. For example if the text only has about 300 Characters - it would start in the right column. If it had between 301 & 600 characters - it would start in the middle column and run to the right column. If it had more than 601 characters - it would start in the left column and run to the middle then right column.
