I'm going to do a flash banner with flash 8, action script1/2. I'm required to do a link in the flash banner. However, I'd like to know how to trigger the link in the .swf file with the given embedded code without using external html or js.<embed src="www.mydomain.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height=198 width=352></embed>
I've created a flash banner with an embedded quicktime .mov with Flash MX and published an html of it[URL]... in google chrome it does not work? In the other browsers it seems to load slowly,
My questions are: 1. How may I create a high rez flash that loads quicker? 2. What is up with Google chrome and flash? 3. Is there a better way of embedding flash?
I am trying to replace some code which loaded an external image and triggered and function once completed with code that uses and embedded image. The relevant code looks like this.

The commented out section is where it used to take the loaded image and apply it to a texturemap.I need to replace the lines of code in the first function with something that calls the second function correctly.
I have tried using function imageLoadComplete (e:Event = null)and calling it with imageLoadComplete(); in the first function but although it compile and runs without error, the program does not work properly. I suspect this is to do with the dispatchEvent(); line which I do not understand.
I got a Parent SWF which loads another (Child) SWF. It also has a rather large SWC in it. What I want to do is use Classes from that SWC (the one code-embedded in the Parent SWF) in the Child SWF, after it has been loaded by the Parent SWF.
I know that I can externally-link a SWC and then load it in the same ApplicationDomain. But this is not how I want to do it. I want the SWC code-embedded (statically loaded) in the big, Parent SWF and usable in the loaded Child SWF.
i am working on a flash currency converter application, for that purpose i am fetching the latest currency rates from yahoo, i am using flash cs5 and as3, i am getting the desired response from yahoo when i run the flash file from Flash cs5 (ctrl+enter) and also after publishing (F12) by opening the html file just created by flash cs5. BUT when i am moving the html and swf file over a web server (WAMP in my case), the response from yahoo is no longer working for me, i have checked it in both localhost, and on remote server. what can be the issue? it seems so strange to me..
Is there a way to execute code (like a preloader) before loading the embedded assets? I'm using the [embed] tag with CS5, and I'd like to avoid using an external preloader.
I'd like to gain read only access to the following parameters of embedded Flash videos located on sites that I do not own through my own custom browser extension/add-on:
Time location of playback head (so I can display the current time in the browser extension via HTML5/JavaScript) Frames (so I can make capture them to an image file, save it and display image in browser extension) Original Dimensions in pixels (so I can display the original video dimensions via JS/HTML5 in browser extension)
Is this possible by using Javascript and HTML5 from a browser extension?

I made a flash mp3 player and it works fine in any other test pages. but when i embed it onto my site it just shows blank. what do i do? my site is [URL] and the flash player i tested here [URL] and it plays. What im i doing wrong? i tryed everything. right now i just got it in a iframe but i dont want that iframe.
I am building a banner ad and I am using Flash CS4. I need it so when someone clicks the banner it takes them to the page in a new window. Its just a a simple URL and I keep getting syntax errors now and I dont know how to do this properly. I have tried these methods.
As stupid as my question might sound, i have spent the last 2 weeks reading oop books; but could use some guidance. I have a flash project that is basically a supped up slide show. On the stage i have the following: main_mc (instance name = images_mc) = movieclip which holds "pictures" ui1 (instance name = ui1_mc) = user interface that allows user to draw on picture (when drawing is enabled) ui2 (instance name = ui2_mc) = activates invisible hit areas (buttons) on select pics, when hit area is clicked, we jump to another pic in the main_mc.
I accomplished all of this on the timeline, but am updating the code to OOP. I am having A HELL OF A TIME trying to figure out how to store references to the instances (images_mc etc..), so i can control them from varying class files. I have found it is easy to control the instances from the documentclass, but not from unrelated class files. Example: images_mc.stop(); works in document class; but ovieclip(Parent).images_mc.stop() doesn't seem to work from any class file.(ui2 class file for example);
I'm looking for a workaround to the "AdSense does not let you choose only images but no flash" issue. I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.

I'm looking for some help converting as3 code to pixelbender code in an attempt to improve the performance of my application. This as3 code goes as follows. I scan through the Number values of a bytearray in chunks. Lets say this chunk lenght was 100 numbers I read 2 numbers (left and right) and try find the maximum values. The numbers in my bytearray are PCM data so there is millions of them and this code can often take a long time to execute, especially on a low spec machine.
The whole aim of this is to render a waveform as quickly as possible. I know very little about pixel bender. I can basically make a new file and create a shaderJob of it in flash but I'm really uncertain how to approach this...

I am trying to create a flash banner ad that loads when a page loads and gives the user the option to minimize it. When the ad is minimized, I wanted to leave a box (that could also function as a mini version of the larger ad)that could be clicked and reload the ad if desired.
I have been struggling with how to do this. I tried creating two movies, one for the main ad and one for the smaller box that remains after the ad is minimized. I inserted the object code for the larger ad into my html and it loads and will load the smaller ad then the button (for minimizing the ad) is clicked but the smaller ad loads in the area defined by the object code for the larger ad. I am not sure how to work around this.
We are moving to a new platform and will have a flash banner on the home page that will be changing frequently with new promos, etc. You can find the flash banner at http:[url].....I need to be able to update the swf file and have it immediately reflect on this new home page, but it only seems to be updating on the non-secure URL in Firefox and not at all in IE.
I'm trying to loop a Flash Banner ad. I added the code to the first and last frames on a separate action layer on the main timeline, but it's not working.
I'm using actionscript 2.0/CS4.
I have a stop action on the last frame of the last text movieclip that plays. And it seems to get hung up here. When I remove the stop action it just loops that movieclip and not the whole animation.

I have flash as part of the adobe suite but am yet to have a real go at it. If I was to buy a third party flash banner say with a size of 100x250 and wanted to add text to it so it would then be 100x350, is this an easy process?
