I have them appearing fine in the component definition panel, but the values entered here seem to be overridden by the component inspector and the var doesn't appear here unless I enter it manually and then there's no way to make it a list.In my class I have:

I'm creating a component which requires the selection of one item from a list of items in the component inspector. If you look at the checkbox component, you'll see a tag called labelPlacement which allows the selection of one of four choices. I would like to reproduce this for my component.
I do not need to display a list using my component, I just need to allow the choice from a list.
I am working on an enterprise application and creating a base class for some stage components that has knowledge of the class extending it. More specifically, I need a way to loop through the inspectable properties in a class file and place the names of these variables into an array. For example:

how do I sort the list component by numerical values? At the moment, the sort sorts as follows 1 10 100 2 20 200 3 30 300...i want it to be 1 2 3 10 20 30 100 200 300...I am using the following code to accomplish this.[code].Is there a way I can reuse my listeners because basically the actions of the lists are the same...when you mouse over the elements I want the booths to highlight.when you click it zooms to a booth and highlights it something else...I am accomplishing this by duplicating the listeners [code]

I could have them simply write out the path in a string, but I'd like to allow them to navigate to the source file with a file browser if possible. I've looked through much of the documentation for metadata tags and haven't found anything "reliable"... for instance... [URL]. Lists possible "types" for [Inspectable] metadata, but it doesn't list nearly all of them... I'm currently using a type="Video Content Path" to let them browse to a video file... but I would think that Adobe would also have a type that allowed to browse to any file type, not just a video.

I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.

I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..

I would like to know how to delete(clear) the existing list data values before binding new values. I'm using the list for binding data dynamically using http services. When I make a new call to the service, I want the exiting items to be flushed and bind the newly retrieved data to the same list. How can I achieve this?

I've built a component with custom inspector and preview file. I was wondering haw can I call an embedded function in preview from inspector?
The problem I've got is when I open two new FLA files and put the component in each file the preview doesn't refresh itself while switching between active windows (I have to make a change inside the inspector to update the preview)
I drew a logo and made it a movie clip but I can't get the filter in the property inspector to work correctly. The logo is blue and the shadow shows up blue and the bevel won't work.

Environment: Flex/As3/Cairgorm/composite component.I have two comboboxes and two datagrids such that the selection of combobox 1, inserts data into combobox two and the fist datagrid.The selection of combobox 2 inserts data into datagrid 2.I have setup the change event so that the user selection on each of the combo boxes do the right thing. The problem is that on the initial load of the comboboxes, the change event does not fire and subsequent synchronization data loading does not happen.Is there an event for getting the itemselected (1st item) after the combobox is initialized?
