Professional :: Make Non-inspectable Component Properties Persist From Design To Runtime?

I have two components (lets call them A and B) which have normal inspectable properties (e.g. NAME and AGE) which allow you to enter values via the component inspector. When I type the value for NAME in component B (via the component inspector) I communicate via a singleton class and store this value in a NON INSPECTABLE property located in component When I run the movie, I want to access this non inspectable property within component A; however, it is always null - the value will not persist from design time to runtime. I check that the value is set at design time by tracing the A's non inspectable property once component B has set it - and it does indeed work, so I know component B has managed to set the correct value in A.

I am new to Flex and trying to modify some existing code.I am trying to It uses and Advanced DataGrid. In the click event, the ListEvent is passed in, and the code is able to access properties such as event.itemRenderer.data.feature.I would like to check whether the user has clicked on a parent (group) record or the child record; at runtime, I can see that the property I want to access is event.itemRenderer.listData.hasChildren. However, the listData property of itemRenderer does not show up in intellisense, and when I try to access that at design time, the project will not build because of the error "Access of possibly undefined property listData". But the property .data.feature doesn't show up in intellisense at design time either, and that builds and runs just fine.
What do I need to do to access event.itemRenderer.listData without throwing errors when I build the project? Do I need to capture a different event, or cast the event object or one of its properties into another object that will have the properties I need at runtime (I've investigated these options but cannot find info on how to do that).
I am working on an enterprise application and creating a base class for some stage components that has knowledge of the class extending it. More specifically, I need a way to loop through the inspectable properties in a class file and place the names of these variables into an array. For example:

I have having real trouble creating a component with an inspectable property.Does anyone know of an example on the web which shows how to correctly set up a simple movieclip in Flash and then save it to a SWC with an inspectable property ?
I have them appearing fine in the component definition panel, but the values entered here seem to be overridden by the component inspector and the var doesn't appear here unless I enter it manually and then there's no way to make it a list.In my class I have:

So I'm writing a Component for our artists to use and I need to be able to point at an XML document. I could have them simply write out the path in a string, but I'd like to allow them to navigate to the source file with a file browser if possible. I've looked through much of the documentation for metadata tags and haven't found anything "reliable"... for instance... [URL]. Lists possible "types" for [Inspectable] metadata, but it doesn't list nearly all of them... I'm currently using a type="Video Content Path" to let them browse to a video file... but I would think that Adobe would also have a type that allowed to browse to any file type, not just a video.
im currently working on a flash component (first time). I have an instance of my component dragged onto the stage. Played around with changing the different properties i made inspectable - so here it comes: The property (typed object) i would like to change can not be edited in the IDE. I have no plus icon to add a new name-value pair to the list

I m making a T-shirt design application in Flash.I made all the drag and drop stuff and now i need to knw is how can i export the design my customers made?Like in ma application users can drag n drop designs on their T-shrit,change its colour and all when when he press a button say "Print"...the swf shud generate a jpg of that design(that the user made) and send it to a php file(that estimates its rate and all) and saves another copy in my domain(like [URL]).
I would like to bind two components with out binding and which resides in different MXML.for eg: A.mxml has textinput and B.mxml has a combobox when choose one item in B.mxml selected item should be display in A.mxml textinput.
Flash Builder's design view is worse than 3's (which at least was usable if you ignore some quirks), so WHAT do Flex UI designers (those who don't have paid design teams...) do to design a complex UI? Because Design View (also based on what a lot of people say about it..) gets more useless with every release.See image for some differences in design view vs.Flash. I need to dynamically bind properties of components created at runtime. In this particular case please assume I need to use bindProperty. I don't quite understand why the following simplistic test is failing (see code). When I click the button, the label text does not change.
I realize that there are simpler ways to go about this particular example using traditional non-dynamic binding, but I need to understand it in terms of using bindProperty.
Do you know how if you drag an <mx:Label> or <s:Label> component into your Flex project, when you go to design mode you get this panel on the right to set its properties like text etc.
I have a custom component that I can call with actionscript, or with mxml like this:

The component takes this input and uses it for its internal operation

When I go to design mode, I can see the component under custom components, I can drag it to the stage and see it, but can't set its values field1 and field visually on the right like a normal <s:Label> or <mx:Label> would have. how I can add that? Do I need to make it inherit something or anything else
In my Flash Builder (Flex) 4.6 app, I just noticed for some reason all my "s:Window" components will not allow me to click and select anything in design mode in flash builder!
My other non-window type components are fine - I can open a TitleWindow or Group for example and click on the various fields and labels no problem.
In my Window components, I can select an item in the 'outline' window, but not using the mouse and actually clicking on the component in the visual design window. When I click in there, it looks like it's selecting the actual 'window' box. Almost like it needs to be 'sent to back' or something.
If you go there and click on the "Corporate Videos" section, you will see me pop up and start talking.
But... if you click on one of the videos below... I keep talking over the top of the new video.
Is there a way to "tell target" the one video to stop playing from the action of clicking play on the other video so I stop talking the minute any button on the page is pressed?
I am using AS3 with the FLV Playback component for all these videos.
After much discussions and great help I finally got the working FLV component. Here is my entire code from the label with an FLV component.

The problem is it doesn't dissapear once the video plays. How shoudl it be done, the whole video has to go to another frame with no play_btn on it or there is a code which can make it fade away?
I'm looking to make a "Generate component" button that will add a new component such as a Button to a Group. There could be any number of components added, so I don't want to use states. How can I do this?
url...I don't really know actionscript and I have two issues.Firstly, and most importantly, how can I make the submenu design different to the main menu? Specifically, I need the submenu items to have different y spacing, width, font heights & background. No probs doing a separate movieclip, but how do I assign a certain movieclip depending on whether it's a main menu or submenu item? Secondly, when the cursor moves off the movie, the last open submenu stays open! This happens in this site's example as well. It only closes when the cursor hits another main menu.
I am trying to duplicate a flex component at run time. For example if I have this: mx: Button label="btn" id="btn" click="handleClick(event)"/> I should be able to call a function called DuplicateComponent() and it should return me a UI component thts exactly same as above button including the event listeners with it.
I have a custom component based on mx:ComboBox. Within it I connect to an HTTPService (the url is passed as a paramter) and bind the combobox. Parameters to be sent to the HTTPService are passed to the component. This is working fine. But I want to modify it to make it re-usable with other HTTP service URLs, which return the XML in a different format.

I created few flex components in flash using flex component kit for flash. It generates a swf and a swc file. my question is, how can i load these flash created flex component at runtime and use them.
I have a small problem with ActionScript in a SWF file I'm creating. It is a ScrollPane component where I want lo upload multiple buttons with links to Web pages. I have everything prepared, a ScrollPane created and buttons as well (about 30). What I cuden't find is how to locate the buttons on stage with the properties X and Y, how introduce the properties for each of the buttons. I still do not handle well ActionScript and the manual I have is very basic.
I'd like to create some kind of component's properties inheritance to create generic behaviors in my component.Imagine I work a lot with textfield based components (counters, animated text... and so on), I'd like my artist to custom these components without being scared by the "update" button. Today, when component's code is updated, my artist has to update every flas using these components, and all of them are re-set to original look (if he had customed font color, or font size by duplicating the component instance, everything is set back to the current look of component).
That's why I'd like to know if there is a way for a component to inherit some of its properties and behaviors from another component class ?
I am doing some academic research on Flash and I would like to find what is Flash the most used for, or what it is the best at, in designing web sites. I would need some quantitative figures, charts, stats to illustrate this research. I have found many websites presenting the Flash player penetration but I am looking at the actual use of Flash (in video, animation, User Interaction, ...). For example, "96% of the video on the web is displayed with Flash (3% JS, 1% HTML5 video tag, ...)" ; or "vector graphics are mostly created with Flash, rather with SVG or JS".
I'm trying to put together a Product Features Application, which allows visitors to our Website to view what their product will look like with add-on products via a simple checklist, and image layering platform. So essentially:
- Visitor see's the main Product (Fireplace) on Website Page- Visitor sees three Lists containing Checkboxes below the main image- Visitor clicks one checkbox from each list, and sees that ADD-ON product added to the main image above (so that they can view what the product will look like). I'm using CS4, and I'm slightly new to Flash.
