Bind A Component To An XML Node Dynamically At Runtime?
Sep 13, 2010
I have a custom component based on mx:ComboBox. Within it I connect to an HTTPService (the url is passed as a paramter) and bind the combobox. Parameters to be sent to the HTTPService are passed to the component. This is working fine. But I want to modify it to make it re-usable with other HTTP service URLs, which return the XML in a different format.
My challenge is how can I bind a custom component to a node dynamically at runtime?[code]...
I need to dynamically bind properties of components created at runtime. In this particular case please assume I need to use bindProperty. I don't quite understand why the following simplistic test is failing (see code). When I click the button, the label text does not change.
I realize that there are simpler ways to go about this particular example using traditional non-dynamic binding, but I need to understand it in terms of using bindProperty.
I need to dynamically insert (attachedMovie) a movie that has a ComboBox with in and then I need to bind this ComboBox to an existing _root.myXMLConnector.
I've developed a component which is a combination of a few items (canvas, labels, etc...) but when I try to bind it to a variable such as: {stationXML.getItemAt(1).AAA.@value}, it doesnt work. Before I combined all the items in a component, they were all in the main MXML file at which time they worked. Not sure if it matters, but the "stationXML" arraycollection variable is declared inside the file "Station.as".
Is is possible to bind class properties to mxml components ? E.g.: I have a class A.as with a String property nameValue. What I want to achieve is always having the latest value of a mx:Text component in nameValue.
I have a DataGrid component that I would like to update every 5 seconds. As rows are being added to this DataGrid I noticed that every update causes it to reset the scroll bar position to the top. How can I manage to keep the scroll bar at its previous position?
Does there exist a Flex view component that you could just pass it a custom object with all public fields/properties that it could reflect over and produce a basic UI view using flex components. Is it possible to use something like the Spark DataGrid with one item laid out vertically. It would only have to support:
I want to constrain the height of a flex component to the height of the browser viewport.
The component's children are populated from a database table using a repeater, and are basic checkboxes. There are enough of them that the flex app ends up being about twice the height of the screen, which means some of the rest of the layout goes crappy on me. How can I force the component that contains these to limit itself to the size of the viewport?
I have a Label component in my library list, and have placed an instance of it on stage named lowtemp_label. I've written the following AS3 script in my Main.as file that grabs 3 nodes from an XML web service. I want to send each of the 3 values to 3 separate label components. However, when I run the SWF, my label components do not display the data. How can I remedy this?
I'm querying an XML web service and am parsing 3 nodes per the code below. I want to send the resulting value to a label component. When I place the Label component on stage, and name it lowtemp_label, remove the default text value of Label and play the SWF, nothing shows up. How do I ensure that the lowtemp_label gets the returned low temp value?
The tree should have a minimum row count of 4 and a maximum of 10 (beyond which it should display the scroll bars). So, I have a tree with rowCount="4" and I want rowCount to change up to "10" depending on the currently expanded nodes. In debug I can see two of the tree's properties which I could use[code]...
But these are not accessible from outside so I can't find a way to understand if the tree is expanded or not.
I want to have a tree node renderer which act as follow :Clicking on it change the node height.I have tried as follow : to create a custom class derived from UIComponentand then insert it inside the tree node renderer, but because of some reason it doesn't work as I expected. Here's the code :
I'm looking to make a "Generate component" button that will add a new component such as a Button to a Group. There could be any number of components added, so I don't want to use states. How can I do this?
I am trying to duplicate a flex component at run time. For example if I have this: mx: Button label="btn" id="btn" click="handleClick(event)"/> I should be able to call a function called DuplicateComponent() and it should return me a UI component thts exactly same as above button including the event listeners with it.
I created few flex components in flash using flex component kit for flash. It generates a swf and a swc file. my question is, how can i load these flash created flex component at runtime and use them.
Is it possible in Flash 8 accessing from the linkage class, associated to a component, the graphics elements (for instance, a standard UI component, like a tree or a comboBox) that are on the movieclip this class refers to?
I have a AS3 project in Flash CS4 in which I am dynamically loading in a font whose location is passed in via XML. It works when I write in the font name (here EASTERAR.TTF). However, if I replace it with a variable, I get an invalid metadata error.
Works fine
[Embed(source='C:/fonts11/EASTERAR.TTF', fontFamily="xyz")] var xyz:Class; var arialEmbeddedFont:Font = new xyz(); var textFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
I am building a form builder in Flex 4.5. For that I need help regarding uploading image at runtime such that any user can just simply place cursor on particular location on image and is able to upload any image from the local file system.
I have a presentation with various embedded and external videos linked to it. I need them to be positioned in the center of the screen no matter what resolution the user is running, therefore I need to position them dynamically and not with specific co-ordinates. I have found a link and some code that does this, but its a big chunk of code and I would like to put this code in my main .as file, as a function, and then in my main timeline when I have a video - just use one line of code to call the function and apply it to a movieclip with the video inside.[code]...

I have an animated character swc that is an empty skeleton basically (has all the body parts, animations, and functions/vars). I want to essentially put different clothes on that character at runtime so I don't have to have many copies of this character in my resources.
For example, I have 'skeleton' (the non-clothed model) and 'Bob', 'Jane', and 'Mary' characters. 'skeleton' is animated and fully works as an exported swc, and to get the other characters in their clothes/skins, I open up Flash CS5 and replace the movie clips with the 'clothed' versions of the components. To clarify,'skeleton' has "body parts" as movie clips that are all animated on the timeline, such as "head","face","left arm","right arm", etc. I open up 'Bob', who has the same exact design as 'skeleton', with the exception that 'Bob' has all the clothes and such as differently-designed movie clips. The size, shape, orientation, and reg points are all the same across all the components. After I've replaced all the movie clips in 'skeleton', I export it as a swc named 'Bob.swc' and I do this for all the characters.
What I'm asking is, how can I do this process ^, but at runtime instead, so I don't have all these duplicate root swcs ('skeleton' has a lot of frames on it) so I can cut down on a bunch of space? So I can do something like:
// bob gets all the actions and animations of skeleton var bob:UIMovieClip = new skeleton() // replace the body movieclip with a new looking one bob.body = resources.bodyassets['bob']['body']
I need to change the stage size dynamically. When I try to do this? size_mc.onRelease = function(){ trace(Stage.height); Stage.height += 100; trace(Stage.height);} It comes always the current stage size.
I'm trying to build an API in JS that will perform some operations and then execute the callback that's registered in AS when it's done. Because it's an API, I am just providing a JS method signature for another developer to call in Flash. Thus, the callback name that's registered in the AS part of the code should be a parameter that's passed in to the JS API in order for JS to communicate back to Flash.
For example: [AS3 code] ExternalInterface.addCallback("flashCallbackName", processRequest); ExternalInterface.call("namespace.jsFnToCall", flashCallbackName); function processRequest(data:String):void { //do stuff [Code] .....
Because the definition of the function is in AS, I can't use the window [function name] approach. The only way I can think of is to build the callback in a string and then use the eval() to execute it.
