I am trying to re-use a page layout multiple times in one site, but importing different parts of an external text file for each use. The site has various different page layout designs, which can easily be swapped around and still display the correct content. I'm using this code to import the text:
loadVarsText = new LoadVars();
loadVarsText.load("mainText.txt");
loadVarsText.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {
[Code] .....
The text field displays the name of the variable ("page1Title") rather than the content of the page1Title in the text file.
i was looking at some sites and you know how the page layout load one by one, just like at [URL] after you click enter. well how'd u do that apart from using tweeens? they seem a bit messy, i guess, so i wnat to learn the action script way.
I recently purchased a flash template and I have successfully replaced the information and logo with what I want, but my only issue is trying to center the logo and the slogan in the middle of the page layout. I've looked through the original flash files that came with it and tried everything I could think of. I am not having any success. I just need to center the logo and I am not getting it. I have provided a send space download link to the files also. [URL]
Basically the majority of my content is flash based. I designed it using Flash Builder (Flex) and Its in a liquid layout, (everything is in percents) and if im JUST embedding the flash content it scales to the page fine, and i have the flash content set to have a padding of 50 px.
I put a header div in fine with no problems, but I have 2 problems, the first being the footer div seems to cover up the buttom of the flash content in IE, but it looks just fine in chrome. How can I solve this? I'm using the stock embed code that Flex provides, I tried to edit the css style for the div which I think is #flashContent and give it a min width and min height but it didnt seem to work, actually anything I did to #flashContent didn't seem to do anything, maybe its not the div i need to be adding that attribute to...
And my other problem is I dont even know where to start when it comes to placing a div thats 280width by 600height colum to the right side of the flash content. If i could specify a size for the flash content, and the float it left, and float the colum right, and clear it with the container div id be just fine....But remember the flash content is set to 100% Scale (well techically 100%x80% because it looked better that way). how I can start to deal with creating a more complex scaleable flash layouts that includes other divs? ALL WELL MAINTAINING IE SUPPORT? IE is ruining my life.
Here's the code I'm using:
(or if it will help you visualize what im trying to do here's the page where im working on setting this up http://apumpkinpatch.com/textmashnew/) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
I've been working for a week on a very important task and learning (with Moock's book beside me) as I go. I'm trying to build a menu layout that functions a lot like an iGoogle page. Is this just a matter of a lack of syntax knowledge on my part or is this not possible? I can't find any examples of anything even close. I'm not sure which answer I'd prefer, but I'll take any insight that someone with more knowlege than me could offer
I was recently given the task of creating the webpage for my school's physics department. I want to recreate a textbook where you would actually have to flip the page to get to the next section. While searching the net, I found exactly what I was looking for.

How on earth can I recreate that effect? I know it has somethning to do with rotations and dragging a mask with the mouse but how?
I'm working on creating flash games site and want to make the facebook application version of it. As the site width is bigger than canvas default width I'm trying to find the way to check if the site is loading inside facebook canvas and change the width accordingly.
1. How could I make it where some images/text in a flash file is taken from another outside file. For example lets say I have a image and text that would need to change constantly. The image could probably be done by using a url and changing the image set to that url, but I would rather have it search for a images file name on my computer. For the text is there a way I could use a text document, and have it set up to take the text in that document and display it.
2. How can I make it so when I click a link to an outside url it doesn't confirm that I want to visit it.
I have a Flash movie that loads variables from an external plain text file, that a client updates themselves (from a web site which generates the file). A problem occurred when they used an ampersand symbol in the text field. Is there a way around this? I haven't seen a way to escape it that works.
I am making a liquid flash site with a video player which loads within the central movieclip. When the site loads everything sits in place perfectly, however if the browser is rescaled in anyway the external swf pushes up to the top of the screen and stays there permanently. This is the link to the site:http:[url]...... It's not the liquid layout code for the mc as this rescales fine, just the external swf doesn't. This is the code I am using to load the external swf also:
var Xpos:Number = 0.5; var Ypos:Number = 0.5; var swf:MovieClip;[code].....
how to make the preloader works on the full screen website/ fluid layout. I add the Stage.resize on the code for FYI When I added this code to the bar, it expanded to full screen, but there's no loading bar. The text is also no progress.
How to pass variables from one page to another page in ActionScript? I got some solution that this can be done using CustomEvents in ActionScript, but i couldn't found understandable and easy solution. explain how to pass variables with a small example?
I'm using the text layout component offered by adobe labs. I read the documentation and now capable of doing almost all what I need. I just have a small problem. Lets say I have a text layout object on my stage containing some text. How can I know the height of the text or the number of lines in it?
I found their is a porperty: "contentHeight" and a method "calculateHeight()" but they are in another class of the libraries that comes with the text layout component. I don't know how to reach them. Please help and write me the lines of code that do this job.
I keep asking myself why Flash is so simple when it comes to text layout and finally today I was thinking that that really can't be, considering Flash is meant to layout text in web sites. In my text field, I am looking to create a half return, so if I want space between two paragraphs, I don't have to use an empty return each time. Kind of like p padding in css. I also want to create a tab order in my text field, for better alignment of information. I am looking to create the look of two columns, where I have a date with a paragraph associated with it, with the paragraph being more then one line of the date, but staying indented. Lastly, and I am assuming this is a given, I would like the text to come from a xml or html file.
I am trying to load an external swf with a number of quotes into an empty movie clip on the home page. then I want it to obviously disappear when nav to any other page.
1) know that you need a loaderEmpty_mc to load the swf into
2) don't know code for how to get it to load on entering the home page
3) don't know how to cdde for leaving the home page and making it disappear
I'm using flash cs5... I've made a file uploader and it works great, only problem is it makes this textLayout_1.0.0.591.swf file (in addition to my actual swf)... is this really necessary? I have an embedded font that I think is putting this here and the whole thing doesn't work unless this swf is here.
I have an mx:vbox and inside i have several mx:text elements.how do i decrease the gap between each line of text that is shown ?i tried doing the following:
Its all about printing a Sprite that holds (besides others) a TLFTextField instance thats textFlow has been imported from an external XML file.
Everthing works fine, the content is formatted in correct way, the textfield is aligned at the desired coordinates so that i have nothing to complain about concerning what is visible ON THE SCREEN.
I then instantiated the PrintJob class, added the sprite to the job and sent it to the printer.
But no text from inside the TFLTextField is printed. Except for that, everything else (I added a background color to the sprite holding everything and a normal TextField instance with dummy text) is processed well.
Here is an excerpt from my sourcecode:
ActionScript Code: var canvas:Sprite = new Sprite; canvas.graphics.beginFill( 0xFFFF00 ); canvas.graphics.drawRect( 0, 0, 800, 600 );

Any Way to load text externally into text fields in flash but arranged in linked columns (like in Quark). I'd like to be able to just add text to the external file and the text to be rearranged automatically in the columns. For example, if you add a name in the middle, all the following text has to be moved down.
I am trying to figure out how I can implement the new Text Layout Framework 2.0 in Flash CS5. There are some Flex and FlashBuilder4 examples, but nothing relating to Flash CS5. How do I update my Flash CS5 to support TLF2.
I am particularly interested in creating new List/Bullets features so some example code for Flash would be great.
The goal is to being able to parse "<span style="color: #ff6600;">text</span>" that kind of tag, and apply styles from it. I know that TLF does not support CSS. I found in some example files for TLF a class that implements "IFormatResolver" and is doing its job in case of external CSS, but is there any clean way to parse style information that is inside (of tag)?
I am using text layout framework in my application. I am using textflow as editor to my application. As text layout framework supports multiple languages. I a m able to see the text in multiple languages. Now my doubt is, can I type in different languages? For example: As in word if we choose the font as Hindi then whatever we type it comes in Hindi.
i'm attempting to simply set the caret position at the start of the text flow when it is first displayed, without having to click and activate the text to see the blinking caret.
googling returns that the solution is to do this:
textFlow.interactionManager = new EditManager(new UndoManager()); textFlow.interactionManager.setSelection(0, 0);
however, setSelection() is not a valid function of the selection or edit managers.
1061: Call to a possibly undefined method setSelection through a reference with static type flashx.textLayout.edit:ISelectionManager.
I am building a text editor in Flex using the Text Layout Framework. So I have a Canvas in which I display the content of a TextFlow. I would like to show scrollbars in the canvas, so that I can use the scrollbars to scroll throught the content.
However, the width and height of the 'composed' text layout is equal to that of the canvas, so it is not a matter of just turning on the scroll policy. Somehow I am not able to find the full height and width of a full composition of the TextFlow.
adding the TextFlow to the canvas: rawChildren.addChild(_textFlow.flowComposer.getControllerAt(0).container);
Anyone knows what is the best way to add a scrollbar here? Or how to figure out the full height of the TextFlow?
I want to design a registration form using only ActionScript, i have designed labels and text boxes but using label.x = "10" label.y="40" text.x = "50" text.y ="40"... to align correctly. But i want to design a layout such that all labels and text boxes will be aligned properly.
I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.
Lemme explain, I got 2 SWFs loading of the same page.On SWF2 I'm trying to receive a var from SWF1, and I'm trying to make it only by flash/as without any javascript help nor LocalConnection(will explain later on why it doesn't fit).A sample of what I've made so far can be found here:
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">
