Dec 24, 2009I am using text layout framework in my application. I am using textflow as editor to my application. As text layout framework supports multiple languages. I a m able to see the text in multiple languages. Now my doubt is, can I type in different languages? For example: As in word if we choose the font as Hindi then whatever we type it comes in Hindi.

Sep 24, 2010Its all about printing a Sprite that holds (besides others) a TLFTextField instance thats textFlow has been imported from an external XML file.
Everthing works fine, the content is formatted in correct way, the textfield is aligned at the desired coordinates so that i have nothing to complain about concerning what is visible ON THE SCREEN.
I then instantiated the PrintJob class, added the sprite to the job and sent it to the printer.
But no text from inside the TFLTextField is printed. Except for that, everything else (I added a background color to the sprite holding everything and a normal TextField instance with dummy text) is processed well.

Flex :: Implement The New Text Layout Framework 2.0 In Flash CS5
Dec 1, 2010I am trying to figure out how I can implement the new Text Layout Framework 2.0 in Flash CS5. There are some Flex and FlashBuilder4 examples, but nothing relating to Flash CS5. How do I update my Flash CS5 to support TLF2.
I am particularly interested in creating new List/Bullets features so some example code for Flash would be great.

Mar 27, 2012The goal is to being able to parse "<span style="color: #ff6600;">text</span>" that kind of tag, and apply styles from it. I know that TLF does not support CSS. I found in some example files for TLF a class that implements "IFormatResolver" and is doing its job in case of external CSS, but is there any clean way to parse style information that is inside (of tag)?

Jul 3, 2010i'm attempting to simply set the caret position at the start of the text flow when it is first displayed, without having to click and activate the text to see the blinking caret.
googling returns that the solution is to do this:
textFlow.interactionManager = new EditManager(new UndoManager());
textFlow.interactionManager.setSelection(0, 0);
however, setSelection() is not a valid function of the selection or edit managers.

Actionscript 3 :: Adding A Scrollbar To The Flex 4 Text Layout Framework
Dec 14, 2010I am building a text editor in Flex using the Text Layout Framework. So I have a Canvas in which I display the content of a TextFlow. I would like to show scrollbars in the canvas, so that I can use the scrollbars to scroll throught the content.
However, the width and height of the 'composed' text layout is equal to that of the canvas, so it is not a matter of just turning on the scroll policy.
Somehow I am not able to find the full height and width of a full composition of the TextFlow.
adding the TextFlow to the canvas: rawChildren.addChild(_textFlow.flowComposer.getControllerAt(0).container);
Anyone knows what is the best way to add a scrollbar here? Or how to figure out the full height of the TextFlow?
Java :: Client-side Framework For Web-app With Good Audio Support?
Mar 26, 2010I'm trying to create a client-side web app that generates music procedurally using some user-input parameters, so I'm looking for a framework (e.g. Flash, Silverlight etc.) that has the capability to play audio at a specified pitch. Whether it is playing a WAV/MP3 file, using MIDI output, or just playing beeps doesn't really matter -- I just need something that will enable me to generate arbitrary music client-side.
I've done a bit of searching and it appears that Flash might have the ability to change pitch with the help of a third-part plugin, but I couldn't find anything similar for Silverlight.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Shooting Multiple Bullets - Press The Space Bar The First Bullet Disappears And The Bullet Animation Starts Again
Nov 24, 2008I'm trying to make my platform game character shoot a gun, my character and gun are one movieclip and the bullet is another. The bullet mc starts on a blank frame with a stop() function, when I press the space bar the bullet mc plays from frame 2 which is a motion tween of the bullet quickly moving across the page. I've set the bullet's y and x values relative to the character mc so that the bullet always comes from the gun.
My issue is that if I press the space bar a bullet will fly out of the gun (great!) but if I press the space bar again, the first bullet disappears and the bullet animation starts again. I want to be able to shoot a new bullet every time I press the space bar without effecting the bullets that have already been shot.

Nov 25, 2008Is there any way to control the space between the bullet and the text in an HTML text field? When I use the <li></li> tags it causes the text to be about 40px from the bullet like:

Jul 11, 2009I'm using the text layout component offered by adobe labs. I read the documentation and now capable of doing almost all what I need. I just have a small problem. Lets say I have a text layout object on my stage containing some text. How can I know the height of the text or the number of lines in it?
I found their is a porperty: "contentHeight" and a method "calculateHeight()" but they are in another class of the libraries that comes with the text layout component. I don't know how to reach them. Please help and write me the lines of code that do this job.

Apr 15, 2008I keep asking myself why Flash is so simple when it comes to text layout and finally today I was thinking that that really can't be, considering Flash is meant to layout text in web sites. In my text field, I am looking to create a half return, so if I want space between two paragraphs, I don't have to use an empty return each time. Kind of like p padding in css. I also want to create a tab order in my text field, for better alignment of information. I am looking to create the look of two columns, where I have a date with a paragraph associated with it, with the paragraph being more then one line of the date, but staying indented. Lastly, and I am assuming this is a given, I would like the text to come from a xml or html file.

Mar 7, 2011I managed to do this on another project with a friend but it was in AS3. Now i'm trying to repeat the same trick in AS2 and..... it seems to be harder than expected. Basicaly, it's a dynamic text box with instance name crawl_txt in witch I managed to insert a horizontal scrolling effect. (layer actions, and layer crawl)
Now the really tricky part:
I need: 1 to import them through a xml file ass a continuous RSS feed. It's a news crawler in essence. I edit manualy the xml file with the latest news. But I also need a combobox to be added, from the latest info I got, in witch it's important to have 2 categories: expired news and latest news. Latest news it's logically are loaded by default. But the second category it's important to contain all the news I had and are no longer active.
Extra Text Layout Related To SWF File
Nov 5, 2010I'm using flash cs5... I've made a file uploader and it works great, only problem is it makes this textLayout_1.0.0.591.swf file (in addition to my actual swf)... is this really necessary? I have an embedded font that I think is putting this here and the whole thing doesn't work unless this swf is here.

Sep 2, 2010I'm trying to create a simple layout of 3 horizontal Label/Text components. I'd like the components to resize depending on their text content, which will change at runtime.
The components should look something like this:

<mx:Label text="{secondNum}" />
The output would look like "0-1" or "1-99" or "1000-9999".
My problem is that the default width of the Label is wider than it's content (even with paddings set to 0), and if I set an explicit width larger numbers will be truncated when the bound variables are updated.
So, I want to create a Label that is exactly as wide as it's content, even when that content is a single character.
On screen the text from the 3 Labels should look the same as if all the text was entered in a single Label.
(I need to keep the text in separate components so I can play effects on firstNum/secondNum individually.)
CS3 Dynamic Textbox Bullet Bug
Apr 22, 2009I've been working with Flash for over 3 years, but I can't figure this one out. I've got a body of text, half of which are bulleted points designated by <li></li>. It's loaded into a html-ised dynamic textbox.

It displays fine as is. However, if I make the box selectable, and select any part of the bulleted list, the ENTIRE body of text turns into a giant bulleted list, including the non-bulleted portion at the beginning. I've managed to replicate this bug with Flash 8 and CS3, using a variety of flas made from scratch.
