I am attempting to run the XML Photo Gallery with Thumbnails from the tutorial, but contained within an empty movie clip of another swf. I've been trying to rebuild my website in Flash and I was attempting to utilize this external gallery to keep the file size down. The Test Movie of the thumbnail_initial.swf works perfectly on its own, but the thumbnails no longer scroll when I test the website.swf that I have loaded thumbnail_initial into. I created an empty movie clip (analog_mc) and placed it where I want the gallery to load. On the page containing analog_mc (timeline path is Scene1 / siteContent / analogFrame), I have tried both of the following code in the actions layer:
analog_mc.loadMovie("thumbnail_initial.swf");
and
loadMovie("thumbnail_initial.swf", analog_mc);
I get the same result with either: the gallery loads correctly where I've placed the analog_mc empty movie clip, the first three thumbs appear across the bottom, the Previous and Next buttons function, but the thumbnails do not scroll. I am using Flash CS3 on Vista, my AS skills are elementary as well as my XML.
Basically I have a movieclip on the stage which is masked by some shape in order to get a curved look... inside this movieclip which has the instance name "thumbContainer" I am loading thumbs from an XML file. So now I want to scroll the thumbs when roll over the sides of the thumbContainer mc with a buffer area of 50 pixels in the middle. Also, I'd like to have arrows on the side that would also scroll the thumbs left and right.
i'm currently re-using a code snippet of xml gallery with scrolling thumbs, but i got a problem : my mask is stagewidth and my pictures holder depend of thumbs numbers, sometimes after resizing windows browser, while scrolling to the browser sides limit i cannot see the end of the last pic or the start of the first pic

I have a 3d rotating thumbnail movieclip. and I wish to be able the rotated it in both -x and +x directions. It loops, but I need to be able to controle the direction with a scrollover technique.

the fix i would like :
-seeing the whole first pic and whole last pic when scrolling to the border left and right
-placing the first pic at x:70 at start, and enter fullscreen
if someone may have a look on this , that's only a 2 mn fix for a skilled as3 programmer, but for me a headache
Im making a horizontal thumbnail-scroller. Thumbnails are loaded in to a MovieClip and placed side-by-side with some spacing.When I move the mouse to the far right of the stage, the last thumbnail is to the far right on the stage, and when I move the mouse to the left, the movieClip.x = 0.
I can do this and have a script ready. BUT: If I would like the first thumb to be at 0 when my mouse is 100px from the left side and the last thumb to be to the far right of the screen when my mouse is 100px from the right side, how would I make this happend?I've spent $30 on scripts from activeden and 5 hours on trying to make this happend, but I just CAN'T find the solution..
I was working with the XML Photo Gallery Thumbnail Tutorial on this site: http:[url]....
And I modified it for my own usage, making it a vertical gallery instead, and had no problems until I came upon the thumbnail images. When I replaced the original thumbs with my new thumbs (that I sized based on width, as it is a vertical gallery) it got all screwed up. The images are of all different shapes. So when it loads up, some of them had huge gaps in between them, and others were even overlapping. So I fixed it by making the heights of all the images the same, resulting in a working thumb gallery, but now half my thumbs are cropped off by the mask. I'm looking for a way to fix it where I still have the same spacing between the images, and that they are all the same width, but can vary in their height. Here's the section of the code I am using:

I'm also trouble figuring something out from the same tutorial, that I want to change. The tutorial uses these "Next" and "Previous" buttons. On the far right hand side, the half-circle buttons are what I assigned this to, but I don't really want them to have that function. I would rather have them function just like how the mouse functions when it rolls over the thumb gallery, except they scroll the thumbs up and down when clicked.
I am using a scrolling thumnail bar to load external swf with transitions, I got to work using an earlier thread, by including the _parent property, however it loads the same swf everytime. I am really stumped.
I am loading external SWF files into a blank movieclip (content1) Problem is each SWF is different in height.I need to be able to do a full screen scroll but the scroll will only work with the main stage height, Is there any way to make the page scroll to the bottom of each external movieclip? At the moment it either clips off or I have to set the stage height to something like 1200px to scroll through all the text.
i've been trying to centre an external swf into a blank movieclip on the stage and having problems with it. the swf contains a text box with scrolling text in it and that's where the problem lies.it's like flash sees the entire amount of text within the text box (ie if the scrolling box is 200px high but the amount of text within it is 500px high, it treats the swf as being 500px high). you can see an example at URL...it loads fine, and you can click on 'buy' which is also fine, as soon as you resize the window though, the mc 'jumps' up. i'm using a flash file purchased from flashden (no response when i asked for help from the author). also tried a simple version initially though and had the same problem (tried with external text file too and no joy). does anyone know if this is or is not possible?the source flas are at: URL...
When page is loaded I can scroll it with mouse, But when I load first external movie clip the mouse scrolling function disappears. Is there anything I can do? I have search in flash mx 2004, and tryed to use // Mouse.onMouseWheel but nothing
I have a spark List with an item renderer and a tile layout. If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).
Im making a scrollable mc. Easiest thing in the world.... but the damn scoller just will not stop when the movie clip it's scrolling ends. It stops....eventully... but not close enough. What actionscript do I need to use and where do I put it?
I have created a vertical menu that scrolls through menu items in a movie clip.There is a big white gap when the movie clip runs out, and it snaps back to the beginning.I would like it to scroll seamlessly, having the end join up with the beginning again without any space.I would like it to scroll to one end of the list and STOP, and scroll back the other way and STOP - without any white space.URL...
This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?
I'm trying to get each of my thumbs to load an individual picture but I can't seem to get it working. I have this script that has a trace for each thumb but I don't know how to actually get the thumb images to load individual pictures.I've tried using:img1.onRelease = function() { as a way of talking to each of my thumb pictures but it doesn't work.
Just want to put the thumbnails in a movie clip.Not any thumbs are appearing, there is a mc on stage, there are images and thumbs, there is a xml_file�

I have been working on a site that will display a portfolio for a friend of mine who is a photographer. I want to have thumbnails that can be scrolled on the bottom of the page, and an area where the thumbnail is presented when selected. I have the thumbnails appearing. I have a master movie clip with a movie clip embedded. This is to create a photo gallery. With in the master movie clip I have "buttons" or thumb nails of pictures to be displayed from the embedded movie clip (which are the pictures). I can't seem to get the thumbs to call on the frames where I want the movie motion tween to start to show a picture (the tween is to give the effect of fading in). Below is the code that I have (note that for the same buttons I have added some effect when the mouse rolls over and out of the thumb so disregard that part of the code)..
n somebody point me to a tutorial in AS2 for making an autoscrolling bar which contains thumbs. It should scroll very fluidly on mouseposition. I have no idea how to create this.

I was expecting the scaling thumbnail to "push" the other thumbnails left and right as it scaled...but it only shifts the thumbs to the right of it and the thumbs to the left do not move.
Imagine a 3 thumbnails in a horizontal line, I want the middle thumbnail (thumbnail 2) to scale from the centre and push thumbnail 1 to the left and thumbnail 3 to the right. But obviously I want this to work for x amount of thumbs.
