Jan 12, 2011I'm somewhat stuck in a project that I have to deliver next Friday. Thing is... I've got to code a webpage like The Killers Band webpage with a panoramic picture moving according to your mouse movements.
I've tried several things already, but I had no success yet. (Everything must be coded in AS2.0, and I'm using Flash CS3 to cover the project).
All I have is the panoramic picture, which I might be able to upload if you ask me to.
Additional info:
I've already converted the background picture into a movie clip symbol. Also, if I ever have to send the picture to anyone, I'll send it as a Private Message, since I can't post links yet.
Flash - Invisible Stage Background (Cross Browser)?
Feb 1, 2011Is there a cross-browser solution to making a flash players background invisible? I have a swf movie that I want to sit on a faintly stripped background. I could place the same background in the Flash movie and sit it with CSS - using hacks for i.e. to make the backgrounds match up, but wondered whether there was a simple way of turning the background off?

Im trying to do something similar and it gets to the second layer but then doesnt want to load the third inv-mc. Like loading an external swf to a container mc then in that same mc have another external load and then another.

Apr 10, 2009I've designed a Flash site in CS3 using Action Script 2.0 that has a main flash movie sorta floating in space over a gradient background. I want the gradient background to re-size with the browser, so I thought that the easiest way to do this would be to delete the gradient background in Flash and instead recreate the background in Dreamweaver using the repeat background option and then make the Flash movie's background transparent. (I hope I'm making some amount of sense here).
I've found a few tutorials on how to do this, but so far I just get a white background instead of transparent. I've tried choosing "Transparent - Windowless" under Window Mode on the HTML tab in Publish Settings. And I've tried selecting the movie from within DW and clicking the parameter button and adding a "wmode" parameter with "transparent" as its value.

Dec 10, 2008trying to print a movieclip with a white backgroundwhile keeping the stage background black.The movieclip,printResults_mc has a white rectangle in the bottom layer, 850pixels x 1100 pixels. The following function scales printResults_mcto the printers printable area but because isimpossible to predict the aspect ratio of the printable area someblack background always leaks out. Nov 19, 2010I have converted a large background image (much larger than the stage) into a Movie Clip. I did this so I can make it scroll as the player traverses to the edge of the scene.This appears to make the player free to roam the entire background image.I have a tree symbol with a class attached to it that blocks player movement.Here is my problem:
When I drag and drop instances of the tree symbol onto the background, the trees are stationary and do not scroll with the background.I do not want to have to implement code to make the trees scroll when the background does.I was wondering if there was a way to simply attach the trees to the background so that if the background moves, the trees move with it and appear to be part of the background as if they were drawn into it.It is convenient for me to be able to drag and drop as many trees as i need to block certain routes on the background from the player.I tried writing code to make the trees move but it was only working for the very last tree that I added to the scene.
Scaling Background / Whole SWF Object Without Tiling Background
May 15, 2009I really don't know much about flash or swf files but in updating my portfolio I came across Polaroid gallery. I have managed to update the background jpeg with my own picture and remove the fade effect. However in the original program the background was tileable so when seen in a full screen browser looked fine. As my picture is not tileable I would like to know if it is possible to scale the background or the whole swf object without tiling the background.

I have come quite a long way and i have made a site in flash but i just have a question.I have been using an image as my background and i am happy with the way flash automatically scales all the objects in my file but the background image does not scale. Is there a way to do this? I have found out things online which show me how to add auto-resizing to the background but this knocks off the flash auto scaling/resizing for everything else.

Dec 11, 2007I have a series of background MCs, all different coloured gradients (pretty!), and a series of corresponding buttons elsewhere on the stage. On a press of each button I would like the corresponding background MC to come to the top of the pile of backgrounds, then fade in above the previous background. The background that was previously on top, needs to stay next-to-top.If the corresponding background is already at the top of the pile, then nothing needs to happen.
At the moment I am using swapDepths(1) which brings the target to the top no problem, but it may also send the previous top layer MC way down the pile.This is what I'm doing at the moment:

May 29, 2009Hi, I have a question... Following this link, [URL] you would receive a #2032 error from away3D. I'm trying to use away3D to load a .obj model. However, it says the file does not exist: [URL] as you can obivously... although, the file is there! I'm using Windows Vista and IIS7.0... I know this isn't flash related, but my research on configuring IIS7.0 has turned up no results... I'm not sure what to do to have that file accessible...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Linking Invisible Button To URL

After I upload the files, I can see the hand icon when I mouse over them, but when I click on that spot nothing happens. I have two text links on the same page that do work. One is an email link and the other is a url link. I have check the button names to my code and they do match.

Mar 22, 2011After a few years of using Flash I am creating my first project in AS3 and am running into some problems which are quite common involving targeting movieclips and controlling them. Basically I have a fla which has an MC on the timeline with an instance name of INFO_MC. Now i want this MC to be invisible when the swf starts and I have managed this by using the following code: Actionscript Code: INFO_MC.visible = false;
This is fine. However I get stuck when I try to make INFO_MC visible when I click a button in a loaded swf. How would I target INFO_MC from a button inside a loaded swf. Do I need to add an event to the button and then have a listener on the root timeline which would turn INFO_MC visible when it hears that the button has been clicked?

When I test the movie I see the hand icon so I know it's an invisible button, but when I click on it, it goes out of the flash play like it wants to go to a browser, but nothing happens. When I upload the files I can see the hand icon again, but nothing happens when I click on the link. I tried the changing the .html file that it is housed in to an .htm file, but that didn't work either.

Sep 30, 2008I have a loader that is either not visible or behind some other display element that I have on stage, and am trying to figure out how to get it visible. I can get this to work fine when I isolate it, but when I implement this in my larger project, things appear to load fine, but it does'nt ever show up on the stage. I'm using addChildAt() to place it at what I think would be the top layer on the stage. In the code below, the disaster_ load_complete is called, and I'm able to query the properties of the loaded object (such as it's position, size, parent-- which is the Document--, etc).

May 4, 2009I am embarrassed to admit that I am still working in Flash 6. But I am. I do not have the ability to upgrade at this point. I have created a contact form and all is working, but the input text is invisible to the end user. Oddly, anything that is typed is sent ok, they just can't see anything they are typing!
