Is there a cross-browser solution to making a flash players background invisible? I have a swf movie that I want to sit on a faintly stripped background. I could place the same background in the Flash movie and sit it with CSS - using hacks for i.e. to make the backgrounds match up, but wondered whether there was a simple way of turning the background off?
This is my code [code]Basically what I'm doing is creating a string with a flash object and embedding into a new window. Now this works perfectly with IE9 and Firefox but for Chrome and Safari I have to resize the new window and then the flash object appears.
I know some basic actionscript but this one is a bit more challenging (to me at least), as (i believe) it requires setting variables...anywho, here is the swf:
[URL]
As you can see, right now when you click each button the respective background image comes up. Now what i need is for them to crossfade, not switch. And preferably at a variable speed. Here is the (simple and obvious) actionscript so far:
Each button is labeled button1, button2 etc. and each image has an instance name of simply "1", "2" etc....Can anyone help me and let me know what the actionscript would be for them to crossfade ? keeping in mind that the user might click button 1 then 4 then 2 then 5, meaning they cannot simply crossfade in order.
Basically I am working on a project which I have coded using HTML, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. The issue I have is that I want a flash object/animation to show on the first page. Now despite resizing the file within the HTML it seems that within Firefox and IE it sets a default size and doesn't fit the screen.
When tested on Safari it seemed to work fine but just doesn't show as intended on Firefox and IE.
Below you can a find a link to get a better understanding of what I mean.

I would like to execute a cross domain http request from a website. Javascript is out, because most browser don't allow cross domain calls. Generally the solution is to use a proxy, but that isn't an option for this project. The other things I was thinking about would be to use Flash or maybe Java. Are there any other platforms that I could use?
How the browser caches .swf and it's content? For example, if I have an image slideshow that load data specified in XML on the domain, will it be cached for access if the same swf is used on the domain or does it have to be re-cached?
I'm somewhat stuck in a project that I have to deliver next Friday. Thing is... I've got to code a webpage like The Killers Band webpage with a panoramic picture moving according to your mouse movements.
I've tried several things already, but I had no success yet. (Everything must be coded in AS2.0, and I'm using Flash CS3 to cover the project).
All I have is the panoramic picture, which I might be able to upload if you ask me to.
Additional info:
I've already converted the background picture into a movie clip symbol. Also, if I ever have to send the picture to anyone, I'll send it as a Private Message, since I can't post links yet.
I'm using jPlayer in a website, which is a cross-platform/cross-browser jQuery solution for audio and video playback on a website. On my website, I will have users upload files either in MP3 or OGG format. I wonder though... in order to truly stay 100% stable on any browser or platform, wouldn't I need to support a corresponding OGG for every MP3 uploaded (and vice-versa)? I know jPlayer uses HTML5 when it can and will fall back to Flash when necessary, but I didn't know if you need to have that file in both formats to have it play everywhere. If I need both file formats then I suppose I'd have to convert the file to the other format using a server-side conversion. If I need just one format... then wouldn't that be just dandy! So my question is, do I need to convert? Or not?
I'm working on a project that originally required me to use <area> elements and 40 copies of a single GIF image to have a hoverable and clickable <img> tag. I suggested SVG, and the client agreed to use SVG instead, as it was easier to work with for both of us.
Anyways, my question is, what cross-browser JavaScript SVG library will allow me to display and interact with pre-made SVG images.
I know of these libraries:
Raphaƫl: I'm currently using this along with a SVG loading plugin. But that plugin does not support Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator SVGs (i.e. most SVGs). cang: This library looks promising, but it requires <canvas> support, which IE doesn't have natively. svgweb: Another more-promising library. It requires Flash, but most IE users have Flash. jQuery SVG: It seems to be able to load SVG images, but development seems to have died. And it requires me to use a modified version of jQuery 1.3.
My client would like to provide somewhat-arbitrary images to my script and have chunks of them be "selectable" (see my demo here).
I made an as3.0 website in Flash cs4. [URL]The content of the pages is placed in a ScrollPane component, that comes with cs4. It all works fine in Chrome, Opera and IE but Firefox and Safari only show the top-left 100x100px.
Here's how it works.index.html holds a variable that tells my flash where to go (agenda, djs, bookings etc.). index.html loads preloader.swf via swfObject. Preloader.swf loads theKitchen.swf and passes a variable to it so it knows where to go, and triggers the init() function.
Code:
var loader:Loader = new Loader(); var go:String; public function Preload():void {
[code]...
In the "mainswf" then comes some if/else statements to build the desired page. If you click a button in the menu a function is triggered with an if/else statement that checks if the page that belongs to that button isnt allready shown. If its false the source of the ScrollPane is set to that page.Every page is build in a seperate class. The class ready an XML file that holds all the text/urls to images/ video.
I am developing a test as part of an e-learning module. The test has a timer on it, basically to dissuade users from looking up the answers online while doing the test.
I just realised however, that the framerate and timer are choked when a browser tab is invisible. In other words, when the user opens a new tab, the timer freezes! How can I get around this? The final product will run on an LMS, so going full-screen is not an option.
I have created a simple movie and placed it in an 'Under Construction' page. The whole page is meant to be black. When I open the browser a white box shows, where the movie will appear, while it is loading. I want the whole page to appear black.[url]...
I want to create a website in flash for which i want to use the bg in flash to fit on 100% of width and height of browser in which it is opened (according to screen resolution) but want the content and other things used remain in same layout (they should not stretch) and remain in the middle area of the browser, like you see mostly a html page have a bg image which is set to fill 100% of width and height of the page.
is it possible with flash, i dont want to use bg image of html page (body tag background image)
This is a thing I developed using Flash and Javascript, to set any image dynamically as a background image of a web page and allow all other page content to scroll over the top of it.

Would be interested on anyone's comments feedback, particularly about the flash (source code can be downloaded)
How do you make a flash full browser background with high quality like here: [URL](choose your language at first. After that opens up a screen with a full browser bitmap man on the left size.)I have been trying to make such scalable high quality background image but the results have been poor.
I want to fade in the full browser background, however most of these tutorials I have seen have it loaded somehow with the BitmapData or another class, and when it is done this way, I cannot add any animation. Others, the background covers the whole browser, but it doesn't really resize, so most of it is just cropped out. Some, the positioning isn't always consistent for all resolutions. Some don't really explain how to position images in different parts of the Flash besides the direct center, top left, top right, etc. They will tell you how to get these spots, but not other spots.
The reason I chose to stick with this one is that is the positioning is perfect. Positioning looks the exact same in all resolutions and what not, so this is what I want. But as you can see, it uses a BitmapData class, so I don't know how to add any animation because the file isn't even on the stage. It's in the library and I get this effect by giving it an identifier. Also, the background doesn't resize. It fits the whole browser, but most of it is cropped about like I mentioned earlier. The video tutorial really didn't cover the best way to adjust size, so now that I have the perfect way to position my clips, I don't know how to resize them, so they still look good. I remember in another tutorial I was guessing random numbers such as: example._height = Stage.height / 2.58430953;
I basically just plugged in random numbers until it looked closest to the way I wanted it to. The problem with this was that image quality was reduced.
The Background - Must be able to add animation to the full browser background - Background must be resized so that nothing is missing from the original image, not cropping to fill the whole browser, resizing to fill the whole browser.
Positioning (Not really a problem now but...) - An easy way to position anything where ever you want. - Consistent in all resolutions.
Scaling Clips - A way to scale clips so they just fine in all resolutions so that an image with a width of 512 px that looks great in 1280x1024 doesn't end up taking half of someone screen's that uses a 1024 x 768 resolution. - No loss of quality.
am not much a coder but am learning i just wana know how i can center my flash site/content/background on browser resize
i found a tutorials about that exactly the only problem was am using AS2 and the tutorials is for damn AS3 so please if you know one for AS2 then direct me or if you got som code u wana share dont hesitate 2 post it 4 me
Ive got my dancing fruit sorted, however when I save the file as an animated gif and put it in my application the gif has the stage background. If it wasnt animated I could edit the back ground in photo shop, but I dont seem to be able to with the animated file. Is there anyway I can just have my dancing fruit with out the stage?
trying to print a movieclip with a white backgroundwhile keeping the stage background black. The movieclip,printResults_mc has a white rectangle in the bottom layer, 850pixels x 1100 pixels. The following function scales printResults_mcto the printers printable area but because isimpossible to predict the aspect ratio of the printable area someblack background always leaks out. I tried making the whitebackground 20 pixels larger than I need (870 x 1120) and thensetting a crop rectangle in addPage of (10,10,850,1100), no luck, the black stage background just fills in the area outside the crop.A simple solution would be to temporarily set the stage backgroundcolor property to white, print, then set it back to black, but I
i want to create a flash website where the whole browser window is filled with a background image/photo which resizes proportionally when the browser window is resized. Has to be using as2.URL...
My items no longer sit on top of the gray area outside the stage. When I try to move an item off the stage it goes under and I cant see it.I am using cs 5.5. I think I must have changed an option somewhere, becuase if I open up a new document everything is fine.
What is happening is, when I convert any object to any type of symbol, it disappears on my stage. It tests fine, but the symbol is invisible. This makes it difficult for me to see the overall design. Last time there was a folder that was just filled with about 10k blank files somewhere in the preferences for flash, but I can't seem to find it to delete those random files/ that folder. I'm on a Mac, and uninstalling/reinstalling flash does not work.
don't know what trigger this on my Flash CS4, suddenly i cant see any object on my stage it just plane background and i can change its color, but when i start to draw i can see the initial drawing but when i release the mouse the object is gone, try to test the movie and the object is there. i try to close the program and open again but still the same until i discover that this behavior happen when my publish setting is set to action script 3.0 changing it to 2.0 and the problem goes away. i did not encounter this kind of behavior with as3 before.
Flash CS4 had been working regularly on my Macbook Pro (Intel - Tiger) for a while, and then suddenly,I opened a file and all the movie clips went from being visible "stills" to invisible and represented only by an "o". I have tried settings, preferences, even uninstall/reinstall, but somehow my settings or something got messed up and I can't view movie clips on the stage.
I have tried a variety of different .fla files and none allow movie clips to be visible on the stage. The files were created in CS4.This is true for movie clips that have 1 frame to many frames. When I Publish or Test Movie, the clip is visible and normal, but it is impossible to edit the file without being able to see the movie clips.I know that the issue is with my installation of Flash/settings being messed up, not with the file(s) because when opened on other computers (CS4 and CS5), movie clips are visible on the stage, as they should be.Example below: In Flash CS4, the stage just has "o"s where I used to be able to see my movie clip, but in the Test Movie, everything is there. To be clear, I could see the movie clips in this exact file, and then the next time I opened it I could no longer see them.
