I've inherited a website with a huge (2.5MB) flash menu system and would like to know if there is an elegant way to load it in the background from maybe an intro page that redirects to the home page after a certain amount of time - or possible when the menu is done loading.
View 11 RepliesIt seems that this should be a simple thing but I can't figure it out. I would just like my visitors to see a beautiful, still, jpg image in the space where my flash movie is loading...until it is fully loaded. I tried putting a background image in the cell (using Dreamweaver MX) but once I import the swf file, I can no longer see what's in the background.
When I select the flash movie in MX it only allows me to select a background color, not an image. I know that I can use a preloader of some sort to let people know there is flash content loading but I would rather use the opportunity to show a professional photo. Do I have to set this up the same way a preloader is set up but with a single frame maybe or is there an easier way.
I have page made everything in flash cs4 with background black, with many scenes but when jump from one to another one remains the space of .swf in target until it loads, I have proven thousand tricks but not it with himself, How I can avoid it?

The screen goes black each time I load a new animation—this is visually distracting and I would like it to leave the screen white. I have tried changing the WebView background color, embedding the Flash animation in HTML and specifying the background color, and making the WebView "Invisible" until the page has finished loading but nothing seems to have the desired effect. The Flash animation does not display the black background when run on a PC.
View 1 RepliesWorking on a 'video heavy' Flash site that has an intro video. While the intro video is playing, assets(images,flv files) should be loaded in the background. The problem is that, while the assets are loading, the intro video play gets jittery. What can I do to make the video playing smoothly while still loading assets? It might be the single threaded nature of actionscript, not sure. After using @Demian Brecht suggested method, I noticed that the culprit might be Memory allocation. As the FLVs load the memory usage goes up by ~266MB and while the videos are written to memory, the framerate drops to 1FPS.

The project I'm working on has a massive background image (800px wide by 2585px tall) that slowly scrolls upwards. Before, I was using the code [URL].. I modified the code to scroll upwards, but in addition to having a weird intermittent bug that occasionally displays a pixel-tall blank line after the image and before looping the next, it really doesn't seem to handle dynamic loading well (I've tried using several different preloader scripts and it breaks all of them), something that may not have been an issue with the initial implementation but is now that I'm using a monstrously huge image.
Thus, my question: a. Is there another bit of free, Flash-based infinite scroll code floating around that has support for lazy-loading background objects (Say, the existing background chopped in 6)?

I have a flash menu on this site: www.lakecenter.org. The menu works fine in all browsers EXCEPT IE9. It looks like this javascript file is not loading:
<script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/ActiveContentDropDownWide.js"></script>
In IE9 it just displays BUTTON1, BUTTON2 etc but in all other browsers it displays the complete menu. This is what happens when the ActiveContentDropDownWide.js script is removed which is why it seems to be a problem with that script and IE9. But I could be wrong?
so I have created a basic flash navigation menu bar for my website. I have added the bar into a frame on my dreamweaver page. I was just wondering if it was possible to link the buttons on my flash bar to open the pages into a different frame, the main frame below, my navigation bar? The code I have at the moment for my "home" button is the following:

and this is opening the "home" page in a new window. Is it possible to make it open it in my main frame (called mainFrame)? When I change _blank to _self it opens the page in the same frame where the menu bar is, not the mainFrame below it.
I found some handy script on xml flash menu, in which I've modified the code to how I would like everything to look and behave. Only, because I am new to this business of not having anything on the timeline, I do not know how to set the menu buttons as links to external swfs. I would like the buttons (menu items) to load an external swf into a holder on click. Then I would like the menu to collapse as it does when another main menu is clicked.

The menu is an external AS file and is not on the timeline. What I can do to get the image to sir behind the menu?

I wanted to put there a background that will change (fade out and than fade in another one) according to menu position. It would load external *.swf's. For example I'm in "A" and the background is "bg01.swf", after clicking "B" the "bg01.swf" background would unload/stop (fade out) and than the "bg02.swf" would fade in and start to animate. View 1 RepliesI've designed a Flash site in CS3 using Action Script 2.0 that has a main flash movie sorta floating in space over a gradient background. I want the gradient background to re-size with the browser, so I thought that the easiest way to do this would be to delete the gradient background in Flash and instead recreate the background in Dreamweaver using the repeat background option and then make the Flash movie's background transparent. (I hope I'm making some amount of sense here).
I've found a few tutorials on how to do this, but so far I just get a white background instead of transparent. I've tried choosing "Transparent - Windowless" under Window Mode on the HTML tab in Publish Settings. And I've tried selecting the movie from within DW and clicking the parameter button and adding a "wmode" parameter with "transparent" as its value.
I am loading two rss from my server, one is for detail of my videos and second is for news.
Now when user will search video i am taking data from my server based on search, and the news will be arrived every 10 seconds.
My Problem is that when the news rss code will be executed then its displaying me loading icon on the screen, so i would like to make this news process in background, so viewer's do not see this process (loading icon), and user think that new are coming automatically.

View 5 RepliesI'm creating an interactive flash graphic about the ISS. The user can rotate the ISS in a 360� angle. I rendered the sequence in 120 steps, each step a jpeg-image of its own. To reduce bandwith-usage I dynamically preload the next 5 pics in the rotation-sequence. What I want to do now, is to load all the pics of the sequence quietly in the background, so when all pictures are loaded the flash switches from preloading the future pics to just showing the pictures loaded while the application is up and running. The problem is, if I try this, the flashapp will only start if the loading in the background is done. Is there any way of getting rid of that. My code is given below.

But now I want to try a couple of other things with it.I would like to adjust the size and alpha, which it isn't happening. And I would also like to repeat the the image (which was generated randomly) 4 other times on the page.So far I have place the random image and mask within a movie, and then placed it on the main timeline.That works great, then I am sliding same image from behind the first image to create a total of 5 images on my documento get the other 4 images on the main document have repeated the movie that holds the random image code, but nothing is showing up in the other 4 instances

View 3 RepliesAs you can see, I have an external swf file that loads into a container clip. When a user clicks on the next project button, or any other category, another image gallery starts loading. My question is, is there anyway to load the other galleries in the background while users browse through the loaded ones?
