Media Server :: Choppy Video On Blazing Fast Connection?
May 27, 2010
we just set up FMS and basically what's happening is im using the standard run-of-the mill FLVplayback component and I try to run a video (an MP4) file which is streamed through FMS. The video plays, but intermittently chops.
Next test:
Akamai SMIL file with sthe same player plays totally smoothe, no problems.
Next test:
Put new video on FMS server (video chops intermittently) - we then go right next to the server, with literally a 300K second download speed. Still chops.
Next test:
Try different media, same thing.
So essentially the FMS server CANNOT stream any videos properly. Its not a bandwidth issue, and it makes no sense.
I try different video players, tried changing the bufferTime properties, same thing. The FMS server is running at 0% cpu and is a fast machien.
I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy.I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams.
We have installed FMS on our godaddy server to work with and used live video streaming services. We are having problems with the video quality being choppy, slow and pauses continuously during live broadcast and motion. We can't figure what is wrong; video needs to be flawless and in high quality. The godaddy server is running:
Red Hat Fedora Core 7 Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHzRAM 2 GB RAM 250 GB Total Disk Space
I am facing below mentioned problem regarding video broadcasting with adobe flash media interactive server (Developers version). I am using DVRCAST for recording video from a webcam and broadcasting the same live. Please find video settings below. width:320 height:240 fps:15 quality:90 bandwidth:150 buffer time:0.01
Our problem is that videos are not playing smoothly in application. The motion is getting paused and interrupted in time of broadcast live. I downloaded and checked the recorded flv files from server and found the recorded file also has same problem. So this problem is appearing in time of streaming the video from client computer to fms server. This problem is not appearing when I am testing the application in my localhost.
My code for live streaming mentioned below: private function publishCamera():void { cam = Camera.getCamera(); cam.setMode(cameraSettings.width,cameraSettings.height,cameraSettings .fps); cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,0); cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,cameraSettings.quality); [Code] .....
2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5410 @ 2.33GHz 16Gb RAM 2 Gbit ethernet channel OS - Linux CentOS 5.5 x86_64 FMS4 Interactive
Live stream parameters:
320Ń…240 qua_=87 bw_=200000 kf_=5 fps_=18
So, after approximately 600 connections to one stream video becomes choppy (periodically freeze, slow motions). CPU-usage at this time is 100-120% (maximum is 800%, 100% per each core), network usage is 500 Mbit/sec.But second live stream(with few connections) at this server looks fine simultaneously with 600 connections at first stream.Experiments with recommendation in "Configuring performance features" documentation chapter(enabling/disabling aggregate messages and configure the size of stream chunks) do not help.
I have installed a FMS to a CentOS server. I created an application here but I cannot connect to it raising a "Connection Error". I tried testing it by streaming some videos on the samples on vod. I used the "../samples/videoPlayer/videoplayer.htm" which is locally found on my computer that was included when I installed a FMS too on my local computer (Windows). When I try to load a video from my computer's FMS samples it usually works. I used the following Stream URL here: rtmp://[MY-IP]/vod/sample.flv
But when I try to load a sample vido from the server I still get "Connection Error". I used the following URL rtmp://[server-ip]/vod/media/mp4:sample.f4v The file is located at /applications/vod/media/ which is as far as I know, the vod is the application's name and media is an instance name. Is there a sample working Stream URL on the internet that I can use to test?
I just installed Flash Media Server 3.5 and was trying to verify my installation. When I try to 'Verify progressive download over HTTP' as given in [URL] i am able to 'View a sample video' on start screen but when i try 'View your own video' i get this message on the player "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again."
I had FMS 3.5 developer package installed on my server installed about a month ago. I used to be able to go to the /webroot/ page to see the sample RTMP video play and it worked great. Today, I go to view that page and find that it no longer plays. I get "Connection Error. Please preee Play to try again."
Pressing the play button does nothing, so I click the RTMP thumbnail and it reloads ony to give me that same error again. I can click the HTTP thumbnail and see the video play just fine. But, I want RTMP and after over an hour on the phone with my managed hosting tech, we can't find anything wrong.
Here's the thing: I haven't done anything, I have not changed anything, I have not manipulated the server software whatsoever. It just stopped working and gives me "Connection Error."
I have Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 (not Interactive) running on RHEL5.5 x86_64 Linux. All is working well, however how do I prevent unauthorized access to connecting to the live stream and streaming content? How can I setup the server to require a user and password to stream live media to the server?I am new to this product and I have been reading some documentation but I have not found a clear cut answer on how to force a username and password to connect to the server to stream live content only.I am using the Adobe FMS Apache install, what files need changing?[code]I want to lock down a person from connecting to the server on the public internet and starting a live stream? Can this be done with a user name and password?
We are running Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5.2 Streaming Edition. It is running on a dedicated physical server with 4 cores and 4 gigs of RAM.
I tested the FMS thoroughly before moving to production. I tested by throttling my bandwidth to simulate different connections. Streaming worked great, but almost all of the testing was INTERNAL, not external. We recently started publishing some videos external. We are getting complaints all over the place that the video is choppy.
During our troubleshooting, we started using one of the native videos from the FMS install. The video is only 5 MB. We have tested from several different connections... Fiber, Cable, DSL.... The test video from our Flash Media Server is choppy... It buffers quickly all the way through playback, it is horrible. We published the same video on a public FMS and it works flawlessly from all of our test connections. Our expert developer has published a CF page with both videos, one from our FMS and one from the public.
We have one application in which we are using flash media server 2.0.5. We dont know why it's stop taking connection occasionally at that time we can't enter into the managment console. We get a white screen. When we try to enter user name and password it's does not accpet the credentials. We are not getting anything in the log.Port number 1935 and 1111 of the particular system where FMS has placed are working fine.
First,i am in project for creating some website with streaming video. The connection to the host is bad and i need to know if Flash media server can reconnect if connection is lost during playback and second,is there some kind of plugin for subtitles, this is very important,If there is a positive answers on those two questions, the third would be "where can i buy it and how"?
I'm having an issue streaming mp3 files form flash media server where the sound will be very choppy. When polled every second the newStream.time property has kind of crazy numbers like 1,3,6,8,10 always skipping a second or two.
I have instaled FMS 2 on local machine and have a video chatroom. I have used:rtmp//localhost/chat as the string and i can connect using this same machine from the chat interface. However, when i try to connect to the server ffrom my laptop or any other machine i get a connection fail
My animation is too fast and when I take down the speed and cut some frames it appears choppy. Do I start with a one big image and make small but fast movements between or could I perhaps have to draw several small movements. I've been in a hole lately and I feel spaced out. I also have trouble concentrating.
I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy. I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream.
I'm using the RTMFP protocol to publish and play video and audio, but i'm with a little problem. I installed the FMS 4 Development Server in a Windows Server machine located in our local network and it works perfectly. In order to deploy our application, we have a remote server with a fresh install of the Ubuntu 10.04 Server, and the FMS 4 installed in this server. In other server we have the Java and Flex application, which will be used in the client browser.
The problem is that when trying to change the NetConnection url to the remote FMS server, which is the Ubuntu server, the netconnection can't connect to it. When changing to the RTMP protocol it connects, but with the RTMFP don't. I can't find any information in the log files or anything else.
I managed to make a local streaming (connection) to the server,by seting the FME at rtmp://localhost(or my IP)/live.But now i want to make a non local streaming.
Looking through our windows event viewer application logs, I've noticed alot of these warning listed. What would cause they messages to generated? Anything to be concerned about? It seems they're all created in between live event streams - after a live stream has stopped published and before the next live event stream begins, about a 20 minute break.
I Need to Broadcast 20,000 to 40,000 Live Streams.! (Bitrate : 128Kbps / Viewers Per Stream Apprx-10 Server : Adobe FMS Server Amazon EC2 Instance - Bandwidth Apprx 100mbps)My Question is1. How Many Concurrent connections Possible for one Adobe FMS Server? (Amazon EC2 Instance)2. is this possible to use RTMFP for this process? (20,000 Connections Via Amazon Adobe FMS Server EC2 Instance )3. if Possible Over RTMFP then How Many Developer Keys Need for this Operation. (or) Pricing Details for the Developer Key. (or) Any Separate Key[s] Available For Amazon EC2 Instance?
All I can find is this discussion but there is no answer to my case. Our company is developing an application, which connects to https server when a client is joining/leaving the server. Here is a part of main.asc file:
We have two servers - one stores the media files and runs FMS. The other creates dynamic webpages. I have edited the 'dynamic stream' SMIL example on the media server, to include a full URL:
[code]...
If I open the standard FMS index page, the 'dynamic stream' example works fine. However, if I copy that code over to a page on my webpage server (linking back to the media server of course), I get a 'connection error'. The weird part though is that if I limit the 'switches' in the SMIL file to just one video, it works again, eg:
[code]...
It makes no difference which file I choose, as long as there is just one.I am using the same video player that all the examples use (FMS 3.5), so my thought is that something in that player is causing a cross domain security exception when it has more than one stream to choose from. I tried disabling the firewall, so it's not that, and I updated server.xml to point to a custom crossdomain.xml file:
<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd"><cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain="*.mywebpageserver.com" /></cross-domain-policy>
i'm here because i'm discovering FMS right now and i'm starting to ask myself question I'm thinking about create a Web-TV :I want to stream video with a playlist playing server/side, and sometimes live video with a camera.i will not be the developper, i want to hire someone but what about the price.I'm aiming to have like 50000/100k visitor by month, i'm considering buyin Flash Media Interactive Server Licence, but what type of server i need for this kind of traffic, i'm not a professional, i will hire a agency or someone, but i need information first, to be aware about what its going on.What range of price should i expected ? FMS is a good choice for this type of web-tv ?
