View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded from FMS 2 - FMIS 3.5.Over our internal network videos stream like a dream! However, accessing them from outside our own network means that they take about 20 seconds to load, or sometimes just get a message saying the server isn't found. This wasn't a problem with the FMS2 and there have been no changes to firewall settings or anything like that since the old server was up and running without problems.I have the new server set to use exaclty the same ports, but wonder if there are some other settings which could be causing this?Networking isn't really my area of expertise, and I have no idea where to start looking to improve things.
View 2 RepliesSimple questions: can I upgrade FMS 3.5 to FMS 4 and not have to change any setting or our programs - so I upgrade and our existing system keeps working without any problems??? and - how many concurrent streams (audio only) can be streamed with FMS 4?
View 1 RepliesWe just upgraded our FMIS from 3 to 3.5. All our VOD streams were working prior to the updgrade. Now the streams do not play. When logged in to the admin and checking the Server Log, this is the message. I assume this is correct. I have **** out the address.

Is there anything more that I can check to see where this is failing?
After our upgrade some of our streaming media files no longer stream... I have performed an flcheck on the files in question and they are returning the following error:
FLVCheck version 1.0 - Utility to validate flv and mp4 media files.Copyright (C) 2008 Adobe Systems Incorporated. [URL].. 10-08-13 15:49:07 Error: -31 Bad box hierarchy. Found a track childbox before track. At this point we have a large majority of the files that normally streamed quite normally and fine in 3.0 not streaming at all in 3.5 I hate to back out of the upgrade, but if we can not find a solution to this problem it will have to happen.
I am running the amazon AMI ami-6a1deb03 that has fms version 4.0.1.8011
However i need to cap the maximum number of connects to the server for a live event. It seems like the <MaxConnections> tag in Vhosts.xml is not enforced due to a bug in 4.0.1; but its known to work on 4.0.2 (http:url.....)if there's a new AMI available that has the newer release? If not, When will that be available? and can I upgrade the existing server to 4.0.2 ?
Our Adobe rep has indicated we are eligable for FMISv4 upgrade. The option doesn't not appear on our volume licensing site. How do we upgrade?
View 1 RepliesI sucessfully upgraded from FMS to FMIS. In the Admin it shows that the license is now Flash Media Interactive Server r405 I believe. The live and vod services continue to work as expected. On a separate development server I have developed a number of applications that I want to move to the new production server. Nothing connects at all on the new server. In the Admin, all the applications show as being available. Is there something I need to do to make it work?
View 6 Replieswe are using FMS 2.0. I need to patch the buffer overlfow vulnerabilities. The doc that Abobe supplies with the patch/upgrade releases is confusing. The doc for the 2.0.1 recommends uninstalling 2.0 prior to the 2.0.1 installation. Upgrades 2.0.2 and up do not state this.. However, installing 2.0.5 specifically mentions patching v 2.0 vulerabilities, but does not mention uninstalling first OR that prior patches need be applied...And, finally version 2.0.2 - 2.0.5 do not mention is the patches are cumulative - are they?
I need to do an in-place upgrade from 3.5.2 to 3.5.3 on my origin servers. Is there a recommended precedure to acheive this? I want to have the minimum downtime possible. CentOS, x64. I think something along the lines of :

I have a web page that allows users to upload video files. Part of the process is that once a video is uploaded it goes through the flvcheck to make sure it is good. For some reason when I upload a large video (over 1.5 GB) it fails the flvcheck. When I run flvcheck manually on the video, it passes.
View 7 RepliesI have an application that was running at influxis, no problem. The server side script performs an XML sendAndLoad, and then calls the client based upon the xml response. But then i installed my main.asc file into a different dev environment and the xml.sendAndLoad request totally fails. Using onHTTPStatus, I discovered that the error type is <100, with an error code of 0. According to Adobe, a 0 indicates that things were fine.
I then implemented the onData method as shown in the adobe docs, and 'src' is coming back as undefined. The network engineer has confirmed that there are no network/firewall issues that would impact FMS talking to our application server, so FMS and the app server are free and clear to communicate with each other. Is there some sort of other setting that needs to happen to allow FMS to send and receive data? Is there something else I'm missing here?

I have Flash Media Server installed on Windows Server 2007. I configured the Flash Media Server service to Automatic (Delayed Start), using a network logon instead of the local system account. In case you are curious, I use the network logon for the service because I need Flash Media Server to be able to access media stored on a network share. My problem is that, despite the Automatic start, the service does not seem to start automatically. Also, if I log out of that network account, the service seems to stop. what I can do to make sure that Flash Media Server will always start, as well as keep it running even if no accounts are logged in?
View 1 RepliesFMSMaster -console fails on assert I am trying to use FMSMaster -console to start FMS 3.5 on cmd.exe by system account "administrator". but I get an error when trying to run FMSMaster -console.The error that I receive is as follows:
TimeResolutionImpl::set(00.001000000) returning 00.000976600Assert failed in ..utilTCProcess.cpp line 161Failed to create process mutex.
I just installed FSMS 4 and could not log into the administration piece (the login s would fail) even though I was using the ID and password specified in the fms.ini file.
During the installation I had specified a different port for the administration port. I changed the port back to 1111 and I could log in with no problem.
Why is the admin login failing if I don't use 1111 as the admin port number ?
I have Flash CS5.5 I just uploaded an swf with a few button instances I got the msg that I needed to update my Flash player so I did. After that when I went to test the swf I get no button cursors on any buttons in the swf. The buttons work when I press on them but there is no cursor. If I publish the file locally the cursors are there, I made a few different fla's with test buttons to make sure and they all do the same thing. The publishing settings are set for 10.2 , this seems to have happened once I got the new Flash player 11.3.
View 1 RepliesCan Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 run on AMD Athlon Dual Sock Quad Core?I just requested a Dell server to be added to our farm to run as a Media Server and to my surprise, while reading the requirements for FMS it states the following: 3.2GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor (dual Intel Xeon® or faster recommended)
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors. Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point. The netConnection object in this case is null. Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server? This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
How can we automatically configure edge from the admin console of flash media interactive server?
View 1 RepliesI would like to know the number of connection allowed in the free developer ediiton of Flash Media Server.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I have to a problem using the Flash Media Interactive Server Feature Explorer. I want use the sample: RecordStream. I can see the instance "RecordStream" in console FMS 3.5. and show me the video in app AIR, but does not save the .FLV in my server.

View 1 RepliesI have Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 (not Interactive) running on RHEL5.5 x86_64 Linux. All is working well, however how do I prevent unauthorized access to connecting to the live stream and streaming content? How can I setup the server to require a user and password to stream live media to the server?I am new to this product and I have been reading some documentation but I have not found a clear cut answer on how to force a username and password to connect to the server to stream live content only.I am using the Adobe FMS Apache install, what files need changing?[code]I want to lock down a person from connecting to the server on the public internet and starting a live stream? Can this be done with a user name and password?
View 13 RepliesOur flash media server stops taking connection sometime. Any one have any idea about sophos antivirus?
View 8 RepliesWe purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
is it possible fast forward, rewind video in flash media server through flash action script ?

View 1 RepliesI'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.
