No I have installed fms4.5, but I can't find good docs how to set something like this up. In Learning section I saw a lesson, but this one isn't ready.So I want to publish using flash and the subscribers to the livestream can be iPhones or Browsers.
View 13 Repliesi have a small LAN of about 8 computers all of which are running windows 7. I have installed FMS and XAMPP webserver on one of the machines. I want to stream live from one PC to all the other PCs on the LAN. I have a webpage with jwplayer embedded in it on my XAMPP webserver that is able to see the live stream when i start it locally. I mean the live stream works fine on the machine with the servers on it. But when i want to view the live stream from another machine in the LAN by accessing the webpage that has the jwpalyer from another machine, The jwplayer returns "server not found:rtmp://192.168.10.1/live" error. I was thinking that maybe a firewall is blocking the 1935 port but i have turned off the firewall of every PC on the LAN. I have unistalled any antivirus program on all the PCs. But i still get the same error when i try to access the live stream from another PC on the LAN.When i run netstat -a -n|find ":1935" i get 192.168.10.2:49184 192.168.10.1:1935 SYN_SENT and i think the request for the stream is sent but the conection is rejected.

where to start looking if I want to try and broadcast a live webcam on a webpage client to server to browser?
I want to be able broadcast a live webcam from a machine in location x to a remote server at location y and for the server at location y to display it on a webpage.

I am trying to create a flash player to stream an on online Internet radio station using FMS. I chose FMS after being told that I need RTMP server to extract the metadata. Our radio audio is being encoded using a DJ interface called SAM Broadcaster. But for some reason, it does not have an option to send over the stream directly to a Flash Media Server. Only options are either IceCAST or ShoutCAST. How should i setup the stream? Should it be Stream encoder>> IceCAST/SHOUTCast Server>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client. Or should I setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client? Shouldn't Flash Media Server be an alternative to IceCast or Shoutcast? If that is the case, how do I send over the stream from SAM Broadcaster directly to Flash Media Server without restreaming through another streaming server?
View 2 RepliesI have a task before me that I have not spent any time researching in the past because I never thought I would have to do it... I need some specific advice from some of you gurus out there.I need to set up a training facility in which we film a teacher in HD and broadcast it live across the internet to 30 locations around town. I also need to have a live chat going with the video in which any of the viewers can ask a question to the teacher and he/she can answer it in the lecture being given.
The 30 locations that the viewers will be at will be a board room setting with an HDTV on the wall , and maybe a wireless keyboard and mouse that they can share to chat with the teacher.I know I can quickly figure out all of the video stuff, like lighting and cameras. I really need advice on all of the technical stuff that it takes for the live broadcast on the internet.
I imagine that I will choose a content delivery network, but which one? I imagine that I will use Flash Media Server, but which version? Do I need a real time transoding device to feed the analog HD video signals to to feed it to the computer? The company has T1, is it fast enough on the uploading to get what we need done?
I have a question regarding FMS 3.5 and live streaming with failover protection. Currently, we are running a single server with FMS 3.5 for our VOD and live streaming events and its been working great. Recently during our last live video stream the server decided to die and naturally the live stream was lost. To prevent such a future scenario from happening, and given that I am on limited budget what would be a best method of prevention. I saw there is limited documentation on setting up origin to edge, or two origin servers (more likely for us since we can maybe purchase one more server at this time) but I do not have access to make network/router changes etc. I do have full access to configure my Windows 2003 servers however.
View 2 RepliesI have implemented an application for webcam broadcasting and receiving. I have tested the application using a developer version of flash media server. Thus its working finely. Also i am recording the stream and storing it in the application folder. The recording feature is implemented with the broadcaster. Every thing works finely while i checked locally.
Now the client installed media server and I tried to set every thing in the server. I placed all the files in the server and created a directory with the name "live_test" in the applications folder inside the Flash Media Server folder. Then I run the application. Thus the status is showing as NetConnection.Connect.Failed.
Should I buffer a live webcam stream?

I have installed flash media server, flash cs5, media live encoder to be able to view my webcam feed via my website. Now in addition to these, i started streaming to localhost, and installed a dns updater which updates a name server according to my current ip. Then i wrote this dns address in the feed's source from flash 5 as rtmp://thednsname.somedns.net/live/livestream
so far so good, i also forwarded the ports 1935 incoming and outgoing from modem to my computer as well (because 1935 is said to be the default port number for media server). firewall -> closed (just in case); and my internet provider doesn't block ports...started the media server (with admin privilage in 7), started the live encoder, connect to localhost, start live feed.
NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. Source can't be found.
I'm trying to create a simple application that streams the webcam to FMS 4.5 (running on a Windows 7 machine), and then displays the published stream locally. Here's my code:

All traces in the event handlers show the NetConnection connecting successfully, and the netstream publishing successfully. However, I get no video output from this. I've confirmed this using the sample video player in FMS 4.5 as well. There is also a weird traffic pattern reported in the FMS Admin console.There is some traffic (~4K) when the NetStream first publishes, but after that there is no activity.
I am facing a strange issue with a pair of FMIS servers set up with Multipoint Publishing. Configuration is as follows:
Encoder >>>> FMIS1 >>>> FMIS2
When freshly started, I am able to view live streams from both servers, however, periodically, FMIS2 unpublishes the streams as seen in the log below. When this happens lives streams are accessible from FMIS1 but not FMIS2. In order to resume live streams on FMIS2, FMIS1 must be restarted.

I will be using FMSS to broadcast webcam.Obviously it is an outgoing stream only as I am told to do cam to cam I need FMIS and at present I do not need cam to cam and I can not afford FMIS.I want the viewers of the webcam broadcast to have a chat window where they can send comments to the person on the webcam and the person on the webcam can type back if they want to.I have glazed over some posts here and saw that it can be done in Flash, I want to know if I can do it with FMSS. So, after approximately 600 connections to one stream video becomes choppy (periodically freeze, slow motions). CPU-usage at this time is 100-120% (maximum is 800%, 100% per each core), network usage is 500 Mbit/sec.But second live stream(with few connections) at this server looks fine simultaneously with 600 connections at first stream.Experiments with recommendation in "Configuring performance features" documentation chapter(enabling/disabling aggregate messages and configure the size of stream chunks) do not help.
I have buffer of video and want to pass it to server and then republish it to the client and display that as live video.

Basically, it gets aan RTMP stream from a client and attached that incoming stream to an outgoing RTMFP stream with multicast enabeled.
Everything works fine, except, after the client disconnects from the server, the multicast netstream on FMS continues its life. The admin panel shows that netstream as a stream with type Live.
I have tried things like:
ns.publish(false);
ns.attach(false);
but the stream keeps staying on the server, how is it possible to get rid of it when the client disconnects?
Is it possible to stop a (live) Stream from playing for a user, but keep his NetConnection open for eg chat functionality?I only see a setBandwidthLimit to accomplish something similar to this, but then, if BW is set to 0, chat won't work.Why isn't there a built in feature to do something of seemingly common necessity like Client.stream.stop/change function to stop or change what video playback the client sees?

The application connects to the server fine but for some reason the camera is not sending anything to the Media Server. View 3 RepliesI am publishing video content to FMS with my program to livepkgr application. After i start publishing the vidoe content, files like .bootstrap, .conrol, .f4f and .meta are gettign created inside the livepkgr folder's my stream folder. But when i try to playback via OSMF player, the player is throwing error 1009. This happens for some few minutes. After some 4-5 minutes, the player start playing the live video content properly (.f4f file size is not getting updated for those few 4-5 minutes)

first off im confused in each edge server i set them to be remote, rtmp and changed the routeentry to <RouteEntry>*:*;96.44.***.***:1935</RouteEntry> on both servers
orgin server is just local
what my question is im streaming to orgin and its getting sent to 1 edge and other edge is doing nothing no traffic the stream i set it this way url:
'rtmp://173.254.***.***/live/live_test',
which is the 1 edge thats working if i setup another channel pointing to the other edge server ip adresss it doesnt work.. what am i doing wrong isnt all this supposed to be load balanced or am i missing steps...or did i do it wrong on the flash player config.
I'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
