Media Server :: (.asc) Enable Code Hinting And Highlighting In Either Flash Professional Or Flash Builder
Oct 26, 2011
Problem: I would like to enable code hinting and highlighting in either Flash Professional or Flash Builder when developing an Actionscript Communications File (.asc). Steps Taken: Searched Google with limited success, most signs all pointed to [URL] where one may obtain an Eclipse Plugin, but:It was created in 2007 (likely out dated)It has known bugs that haven't been addressedSearched this forum / adobe's web site to find a solution, to no avail.Posted this, now, in an attempt to put this to rest Request: how I can enable FP or FB to give code hints / syntax highlighting
In Flash Builder, for objects, properties, variables and such where your cursor is on it, the editor highlights all instances of that name in the code with a grey box. This can be very distracting and I was wondering if there was a way to turn it off or if there is a hot key to disable it.Another things that is very distracting are the mouse hover popups, although apparently there's no way to disable those :
I have a trial version of the Adobe Flash CS5 installed on my machine and I am unable to get code hinting to work when I'm working on AS3 files. I've tried doing the reg fix from Lee's blog but still can't get it to work. I've also tried deleting the Flash regkey and the configuration folder but still can't get it to work.
Is there a way to hide various classes from appearing in code hints while using a compiled SWC?We are trying to create a SWC that can hide classes unnecessary/hidden to third party developers. There is only one class they need to reach, however that class reaches out to so many others. We tried namespaces on our classes but that doesnt work. It only works on methods, variables and properties. Not sure if there is some metadata available to hide those classes from auto complete. That would be sweet.
I'm a .Net developer who is trying to mend my evil ways and learn the Adobe development cycle--so if this a really obtuse question--please forgive me. I was once a graphic artist and I am very familiar with some Adobe products. I am having trouble understanding the workflow as it pertains to creating custom controls, or even reskinning controls and then using them in Flash builder. I haven't really dug into Catalyst, but I am comfortable in Flash Professional and I would like to believe I could take designs from my employers graphic artists, created in Illustrator, and bring the artwork into Flash professional and create custom components, or more likely skinned components, in Flash and export them for use in Flash Builder.
Our goal is to allow designers to create vector graphics skins for controls and applications in Illustrator (or possibly Fireworks) and to be able to apply those skins to controls and custom components in Flash Builder for deployment to the web or the desktop in an Adobe Air application. Ideally the designer would be able to update the designs easily at a later point.
Flash allows for skinning to be done fairly easily within the Flash application, but I have had some problems exporting controls or even implimenting them in Flash builder. The only "video" on that workflow used a movie clip from Flash and set it's "isButton" property to true in Flash Builder...so if a designer built a simple button and designed the states in Flash, I would have to convert it to a movieclip?
If I start with a Flex ready component from the "AeonGraphical" library, and apply a new skin, how do I successfully import that into Flash Builder?
- MX skins can be created in Illustrator and Fireworks and imported into Flash Builder however the format is obsolete and the designs rasterizes and are unacceptable even before scaling.
- Illustrator files can be saved in FXG format and dropped into an assets package in Flash Builder. These images can then be easily used in FB; however mapping them to a control requires each state to be a separate image and to be manually wired to the states of a skin. This is method of skinning is feasible but not ideal...Am I missing a step or improperly importing the files?
- Illustrator files can be saved as an FXG file and imported into Catalyst. In catalyst the artwork can be associated with a control type and the states of the control can be edited in using illustrator. The catalyst file (FXP) can then be imported into Flash Builder as a project which will provide a skin for that type of control. Remaining problems include scaling (skin doesn't stretch) and referencing the skin outside the project.
So that leaves me with Flash Professional as the seemingly most competent tool for creating & skinning custom controls. Using the very detailed and helpful online documentation on customizing controls (found here) I can create custom skins and have no problems implementing artwork from Illustrator--for an application authored in Flash Professional (not so much for Flash Builder).Catalyst can let you create "one off" costum controls easily, but creating one custom skin for several buttons (for example) is not so intuative and pulling it into Flash builder yeilds mixed results...
Flash is in and of itself a rich IDE and could be used to create an event driven application for AIR, but its not really geared to that user triggered, event-driven development model. I have been able to adjust my mindset to create successful prototypes of form based/even driven application that take advantage of Flash's powerful features, but some of my coworkers are having trouble adjusting their Microsoft Mindset (despite exposure to the remarkably "derivitaive" Expression studio) and strongly prefer the Flash builder coding environment.
Are there any resources; web pages with examples or step by step walk throughs, or videos which follow a process of taking a design from a grapjics application and using it to create a custom skin--and applying it in Flash Builder? The process is fairly straitforwards in Flash Professional--but my team and I are having less success in Flash Builder.
As a longtime user of Adobe products, I have by nature of that association become the inhouse Adobe Evangelist and not only have I taken the position seriously--I have managed to convince upper management to abandon WPF and Pyxus (for mobile applications) and develop AIR applications which will span platforms and lend elements to mobile AIR applications. They have even initiated a program which will likely result in our delivering Andriod based tablets to our dealer networks preloaded with AIR applications for business.
While I know know this is all "do-able" I am working double overtime to become competent enough to make this happen...but the workflow between Flash Builder and Flash is only sparringly covered online and the information lacks details...I have found that browsing the online videos sometimes turns up better results than searching (doing "Google Gymnastics")--for example Flash Downunder series has great stuff that doesn't always show up when searching Google...And we joined Lynda.com, and while they have lots of great stuff, they need to develop more stuff on CS5 specifically...
Where can I find information on creating/applying custom skins from Ai to Flash Builder and all points between? (I'll buy any recommended books as well...) Of course we have agressive deadlines and unfortunately there is no experienced Flex/Air developer on our staff (yet)...The "Classroom in a Book" series on Flash and Catalyst have only just started shipping...is that where I should look? Are there any online resources that address both skinning and creating custom components for AIR applications in Flash and/or Catalyst?
Is it possible to enable hardware acceleration (Level 1, Level 2) for a swf generated in Flash Builder. I don't use the Flash IDE and therefor I have no access to the "Publish Settings" in the Flash IDE? Maybe there is some compiler arguments? [URL]. To enable the SWF file to use hardware acceleration, select one of the following options from the Hardware Acceleration menu:
Level 1 - Direct Direct mode improves playback performance by allowing Flash Player to draw directly on the screen instead of letting the browser do the drawing. Level 2 - GPU In GPU mode, Flash Player utilizes the available computing power of the graphics card to perform video playback and compositing of layered graphics.
This provides another level of performance benefit depending on the user's graphics hardware. Use this option when you expect that your audience will have high-end graphics cards. If the playback system does not have sufficient hardware to enable acceleration, Flash Player reverts to normal drawing mode automatically. For best performance on web pages containing multiple SWF files, enable hardware acceleration for only one of the SWF files.
Hardware acceleration is not used in Test Movie mode. When you publish your SWF file, the HTML file that embeds it contains a wmode HTML parameter. Choosing Level 1 or Level 2 hardware acceleration sets the wmode HTML parameter to "direct" or "gpu" respectively. Turning on hardware acceleration overrides the Window Mode setting you may have chosen in the HTML tab of the Publish Settings dialog box, because it is also stored in the wmode parameter in the HTML file.
I'm trying out FMS on Windows Vista.I've got it successfully installed.I am trying to get the simple HelloWorld application to work (described at url...Is that the wrong URL?Do I have to enable anything in IIS? To eliminate the possibility of coding error, I've cut and pasted the code directly from files from C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5 documentation samplesHelloWorld. The "HelloWorld" application shows in the "Applications" tab of the Admin console.
I'm creating a new look for the xspf player: [URL]The playlist highlights the current song being played. I'd like to change the color but can't find where that option is listed in the .flv file, or in the actionscript file.
I have a custom class and inside its constructor, I need "x" and "y" arguments passed on. Now when I call the class and create and instance of it, flash should pop up "the code hinting"...(but it doesn't), or am I missing something???
I've successfully set up a media server and a live broadcast today. I embedded the swf file into my website and my friends are able to see my broadcast. But my broadcast is only 10M. And the streaming bit rate is 1700. So once the audience is bigger than 6, the broadcast starts to slow down. I've seen on the website that peer-based networking technology can significantly reduce the bandwidth for a single stream, so that the audience can be expanded. Is there any tutorial describing how to implement this? BTW, is there any free VOD/LIVE template available on the net? I would like to encorporate a vod system on my website.
We are in strange situation. We are enable to save flv file through FMS using IE but when we are trying it through mozilla flv are getting saved into the specified location in FMS.We dont know whats the reason behind this. Earlier the same functionality works fine. But now we have install one more server(Red 5) on the same system on port 1935 and we move FMS on 1936 after this we are facing this issue.
I am trying to create a flash player to stream an on online Internet radio station using FMS. I chose FMS after being told that I need RTMP server to extract the metadata. Our radio audio is being encoded using a DJ interface called SAM Broadcaster. But for some reason, it does not have an option to send over the stream directly to a Flash Media Server. Only options are either IceCAST or ShoutCAST. How should i setup the stream? Should it be Stream encoder>> IceCAST/SHOUTCast Server>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client. Or should I setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client? Shouldn't Flash Media Server be an alternative to IceCast or Shoutcast? If that is the case, how do I send over the stream from SAM Broadcaster directly to Flash Media Server without restreaming through another streaming server?
So I just started a new job, and will be moving from coding in Windows (Using FlashDevelop) to a mac. I'm looking for something that does the same sort of code hinting and completion that FlashDevelop does so well. Eclipse was brought up, but I can't find much documentation on it with AS3, only AS2. Plus, I'd like to compile in the Flash IDE, rather than a command-line flex builder or some such thing..
Edit: and they already have Mac licenses for the adobe suite, so I can't just run VMWare or something.
I that when you place a MovieClip (or any other object) on the stage, you can give it a name and reference it with code. The main problem is that it doesn't have code hinting. I used to be able to do this:// MovieClip myClip; And code hinting would work. But I'm now using Flash CS5/AS 3 and that doesn't seem to be working.
Can Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 run on AMD Athlon Dual Sock Quad Core?I just requested a Dell server to be added to our farm to run as a Media Server and to my surprise, while reading the requirements for FMS it states the following: 3.2GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor (dual Intel Xeon® or faster recommended)
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors. Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point. The netConnection object in this case is null. Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server? This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I have to a problem using the Flash Media Interactive Server Feature Explorer. I want use the sample: RecordStream. I can see the instance "RecordStream" in console FMS 3.5. and show me the video in app AIR, but does not save the .FLV in my server.
I have Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 (not Interactive) running on RHEL5.5 x86_64 Linux. All is working well, however how do I prevent unauthorized access to connecting to the live stream and streaming content? How can I setup the server to require a user and password to stream live media to the server?I am new to this product and I have been reading some documentation but I have not found a clear cut answer on how to force a username and password to connect to the server to stream live content only.I am using the Adobe FMS Apache install, what files need changing?[code]I want to lock down a person from connecting to the server on the public internet and starting a live stream? Can this be done with a user name and password?
