I have a text file that contains variables that get pulled into my flash file dynamically. It leaves out random letters throughout the text when it is displayed in the SWF.I'm at my breaking point and I know I am probably missing something simple at this point.
View 2 RepliesSWF file does not display special characters in dynamic text let alone cyrillic font. I do have all kind of fonts in Flash and they work fine in static text.
I can write the text I want to display in xml file however upon saving it I etheir loose the special characters or they still dont display correctly in SWF. Enconding is UTF-8. Tried changing it but to no effect.
I'm trying to update my text area via ActionScript code using this: scoreLabel.text = this.score.toString(); but it's not behaving correctly. When the score is 18, the text area displays just 1, when it's 26 it won't display anything at all... As a test, I tried doing this: scoreLabel.text = "this is a test"; and now the text area is just displaying e: [URL] This isn't a font issue, as I'm using Arial. What is going on here?

It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

View 3 RepliesI am trying to implement htmlText for a text component as the returned string is in html format (with the html tags etc). If I put a text=.... i get the full text, but with the tags (which i want converted to html). So i use htmlText=.... and it formats it fine, but cuts half the text from the variable. The text im supposed to get back has tons of html tags, and maybe its cutting it somewhere because of the tag its not able to escape... How do i fix this?

View 2 RepliesI have an overlay that I pull up in response to a button click. This overlay is dynamically populated by a TextField, a MovieClip, and a Bitmap. I used to add them to the overlay with addChild() and induce a index out of bounds error to make them go away (I was in a hurry and I don't think I'm using removeChild() right). Well, I decided to do it better and dynamically change the object inside the holding variable. However... the Bitmap is gone. It won't appear. The overlay puller function takes a data-holding class I made and the picture is a BitmapData object.
I can't use the line new Bitmap(picture) because it doesn't work; that makes nothing appear. So, I guess my question is can I store a line of text in a variable and then use that variable as code? Like... Could I have something like this and get an image as an output? I imagine it could be done with XML, but is there another way? I tried storing the constructor in a variable and calling it with object.constructor, but I don't know if I was using it right and it didn't work.

I have a *.swf file and once i uploaded it in my ftp server to publish my flash website on the web. and when I go to my website no movie loaded in the flash player and once I check the FTP server where my web files are. My SWF file disappear. I complete the files needed to run the Flash website and its in my FTP server but only the SWF file disappear. My SWF file size is 12.2 mb, the 2 scripts needed in running the flash website are this expressInstall.swf, swfobject_modified.js. I am using Flash CS4 using AS 3.0 I'm really new to this software..
View 6 RepliesEvery time I install it it seems fine and works for a couple of days. Suddenly one day it won't open and all it says in the message is "flashresource file missing. please reinstall flash " So I say uh oh and reinstall. Works great so I think ok problem solved. Then a couple of days later it does it again. I have gone through this 5 times, each time reinstalling works for a few days or week then blammo suddenly "flashresourcefile is missing. please reinstall flash" I am completely stumped. After effects, premiere pro, soundbooth, all work great. Flash professiional is the only one doing this.

I am working freelance on an animated show for children, animating characters in flash, and I have a problem that is driving me crazy.
I will try to explain it so it won't be too confusing. This just happened on the file I am working on now, an animation of a character walking: The graphic symbol containing the legs had two keyframes in it (on frame 1 and 2) when I saved the file. When I reopened it, the legs had only keyframes on frame 1. When I check the swf I exported just before saving, the legs are fine.
Similar problems has happened many times now, sometimes keyframes are gone, other times they have turned blank, and on one occation graphic symbols had changed to empty movie clip symbols. The last swf exported has always been okay.

Error creating files. Icon file is missing.
I tried to delete and recreate the folder and pathes but the error still appears.

I'm not sure why but the Fonts.as seems to crash the program... I decompiled it and found nothing really important inside the file... so I was wondering if it's possible to skip-loading the Fonts.as file... I can't delete this file/edit it due to it being a live .swf and not mine...
EDIT: I just re-looked at the coding and noticed it has similar coding to mine... could my code and this code be interacting be why it doesn't run?

I have built an Mp3 player for my site and users are allowed to put their own music into the playlist. The only problem I have run into now is that if the URL becomes invalid later, the player will stop at that song and the user would have to press next to skip to the next song. Is there any way to get the player to do this on it's own?

I recently updated text in a page. Now, when I test the movie, random characters within the modified text are missing. Is this a bug or am I overlooking something? I am using Adobe Flash CS3 on Windows XP.

"SUPPLE" appears as "SPPLE". Some numbers fail to show up as well. When I trace the value of the text box all looks OK.

Objective: When a visitors attemps to do something using my flash site that produces an error, this class will catch the error and store the date and error message into a mySQL database via PHP. The original file is resource.xml. I changed it to resourcex.xml to test out my error log feature.

Running the SWF from the Flash IDE generates this error:Resource - Error #2032: Stream Error. URL:
file:///E|/Projects/Personal/Gods%20Phoenix/website/public%5Fhtml/kasai/engine/resourcex.xml. This is in both the IDE output and in the $output textField within the Movie. This entire line is reported to the database when I use an absolute link to the errorhandler.php server page.
Running the SWF itself and when embedded in html from the website generates this:
Resource - Error #2032
This is the only info I get displayed in the text field and in the database.
I tried the URLRequsets with both relative paths and absolute links from my domain address, with a crossdomain.xml of course.I know IE on windows is about the only browser that will relay http status code. But this info is, I think, is supposed to be generated from flash itself and not the server.
having a really frustrating problem. I have a file, originally penned by anoother developer in CS3 and resaved as CS4. It uses datagrids extensively. When clicking on a cell in a data grid it now fails to render the font (or a blinking carat for that matter). When you click off and finish the edit the text you enter is there, of course that isn't much use because you can't see what you're typing.I haven't changed how these grids work in anyway, and it was working in CS4 before *mysteriously* stopping.Have tried setting the font to one that is embedded in the setStyle of the custom renderer the cell is using but it makes no difference - everything renders fine when not editing but disappears when editing.
