I am currently working on Flash 8 tool. I wanted to know how to create a text effect on mouse click in Flash 8. I have tried simple text effects like fade in and out and zoom out effects, however these effects are not mouse enabled. How to create text effects in flash 8 on a mouse click i.e. text should appear when the mouse is clicked. I am also attaching the SWF file that I generated from a flash document.

I really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:

How to construct the following in Flash 8 as 2. I have several items that need to be shown in a text field list, the list needs to update as a new item is to be displayed also the new item has to move up or down depending on how many items are on the list. For example the list has 6 items available,the fist three are a higher priority than the last three.
oranges
apples
mangoes
trucks
cars
boats
When items are called for example oranges we will have oranges in the text field
If the second item is called say trucks this will go below oranges,
If no oranges are called this will go in the top text field.
if we remove an item the remaining field will move up so there are no gaps in the text field.
For example start out with oranges only
oranges (top of list)
Next case add trucks
Oranges(top of list)
trucks
Next trucks only (remove oranges)
trucks( at top of list)
Next add and apples and oranges
Oranges ( top of List)
apples
trucks
Next add boats
Oranges ( top of List)
apples
trucks
boats
Next remove trucks

The actual movie clip is an aircraft caution and warning display that updates when faults occur. I know I can use an array to to populate the text field but I am not sure what to use to create the correct animation effect.

I am creating an interactive animation of a cat you can stroke, rub, poke etc. I have implemented some basic functions in an attempt to recognize the different gestures, I am using the mouse down and mouse up events to track the duration and distance of the click.
My problem with this is that the 'distance' is measured from the start point and end point of the click, so if it ends near where it started you won't be able to tell how many times the click has 'rubbed' back and forth. Is there anyway to track the distance based on the full path of the click?

When someone "click and holds" I want to fire off function over and over, say, once every 100ms while the mouse is clicked. Instead of MouseEvent.CLICK I would look for MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN and then start a timer on that event function that calls another function every 100ms. Then, on MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP I would stop the timer. Am I on the right track? Will I be able to get updated X and Y coordinates while the mousedown event is firing?

I am looking for real simple scripting - I have a 15-25 frame flash tweened animation and all I would like to do is run thru the animation once then on mouse click go to frame one and start again. And of course I am under a time crunch and completely fogged with actionscript 3.0. I did some basic projects back in the director days and thought I could just pick up where I left off. If I remember right it was simple scripting like

etc...

I am trying to make a class that plays an animation from code when the user clicks on a MovieClip.I copied the animation from the time line using "Copy motion as actionscript3", and made a class that plays it. However, when I try to add the mouse click functionality I run into problems:
1. If there are several instances of the class on the stage, clicking on one instance plays the animation on that instance, as expected. But if I then click on the other instance the animation plays on both clips.2. Repeatedly clicking on the same instance results in the animation eventually only playing partially, as if the animation got terminated early. This is the case even when I wait until the animation finishes before clicking again.I suspect that this behaviour is caused by AnimationFactory.addTarget getting called repeatedly.

What I wanted to know is if it is possible to have a small mirror effect underneath the animation, sort of like this image
It obviously needs to be a proper mirror and not just a static image.
The animation itself is 940px wide, 200px high so I will only need the mirror effect to be around 50 - 80 px high.

I'm struggling to create an effect that I thought wouldn't be to complex to complete, however several hours latter...still can not make it work.
Using Motion tween Im attempting to make an image fade up! Meaning the image slowly fades up from the bottom of the image until the whole image can be seen.
I've tried using the fade effect and adding a masked layer that's tweened, however it fades in very harshly indeed, with the line of the mask very obvious.
Is there any way that I can do this so that it looks smoother and the line is less distinctive.

I have created a movie in CS3 which is basically a series of images that scroll from right to left across the screen. Each image also has a url assigned to it so that clicking on that image takes you to another (external) website. It's all working beautifully.All I want to be able to do now is to create a mouseover effect, whereby when your cursor is over the scrolling image, that image only enlarges slightly - a bit like the Apple dock effect. Then, if the cursor moves to the second image, the first image reduces back to its original size and the second one enlarges.

Trying to create a DVD from a swf animation. The DVD needs to be able to work on any standard TV connected (non pc) DVD player. I need to export to a video format (.AVI or .MOV) the next bit is what do I need to do to make this file play automatically when the DVD is loaded? Something like you do for CD-ROM an autorun.inf? My animation is 646 px X 346 what is the resolution of a standard LCD tv? Will I need to redesign the animation with more pixels to get it to be optimised on the TV?

I am looking to explode an image backwards. Example, I have an image and at frame 1, Alpha is zero. At frame 20, the image is at Alpha 100%. From frame zero to 20, I want to have an exploded view come together by the time it reaches frame 20. I am reading this on web, and I don't have the 'Insert - timeline effects - explode' on my file menu. Is this a plugin that I have to install? This is the site I am reading. [URL]

I am trying to create a zooming in effect on some text. To do this i am using the scaleX and scaleY Tween. The problem that I am having is instead of scaling outwards in all directions, it looks like its scaling downwards and to the right. I think this is because the centre of origin is in the top left corner.

I need to create flash interactive animation for one one of my regular clients, which should look and work similar to example in Nike store Customize:LinkThis is how my clients product (shirt) should look like and what sections should be editable: [URL]Basically it should work this way:1. End user chooses some element of shirt which he would like to edit (for example collar)2. When he clicks on that element, popup windows shows offering two main options: to change color and graphic (texture or pattern), same as on nike store customize example3. After user changes one section (collar) he goes to other section (lets say sleeve) and so on4.
User should be able to zoom in or zoom out that shirt and also if it is possible to rotate it in 4-5 positions5. I would like to make a mouse-over effect on an object. The mouse-over effect should work like this: when the mouse cursor is dragged over the object it should glow, but if the mouse cursor remains over the object it should still glow, but another mouse over effect should occur, showing an info box for the object. Until now I have just made the object as a button, and in the "over" box I have made the object glow, by defining it as a movie clip. However, this only works for the glow part. How do I add another mouse-over effect (which is delayed 1 sec) to the same object?

I have created an animation by making a series of frames. So now I have a FLA file with the frames in.So far, so good.I can export this as a movie and create a SWF file.I can use this SWF file in a HTML document and get it to display in the browser.This is where I hit a brick wall. I have done a lot of searches but I am getting something wrong. I need to adjust this FLA/SWF so that in the HTML file, when the SWF is first loaded it does not play. If the mouse moves over the object it starts/continues playing. If the mouse moves away it stops playing.
