Im new to Flash and am working on a small project and have come across a problem. I dont know how best to describe it but I will give it a go. On one frame I have multiple buttons. I want the 'down' frame of the button to come up as a bitmap image over the entire frame, however when I try to do this, when I click on the button the image shows up but is behind all the other buttons on the page. Is there anyway around this or do I need a new approach?

I am doing a simple loadmovie, bringing an external swf into a holder clip that is empty.
here is my code. I have it placed on frame one INSIDE the holder clip:

_root.pages.weddingholder.loadMovie("wedding_section.swf",this);
The external movie loads, but the issue is HOW it loads. The swf is 643x394 and looks fantastic by itself. When it is loaded into the holder clip though, it scales it and makes it much taller and wider than the actual external SWf is, and is messing the way it looks up.

The animator said that he has created two symbols: one for the body, and another symbol inside the body symbol for the head.What I don't understand is how he translated the layers over into the head symbol. When I click on the head symbol, all of the layers disappear and I cannot edit an object individually within a layer.

I have created invisible buttons which when clicked will load an image into a UILoader. When testing, an output error message comes up saying:
Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: file:///E|/butcher1/images/cut0.jpg
I thought it might have been incorrect naming conventions or instance names but I have checked and I'm sure i've got it all right.
Could it possibly have something to do with my setup of the timeline as I have all my layers on the same line.
Should I start all over?

Here's my problem. I currently have a Flash banner on my website that displays artwork I have made. However, it currently just shows jpegs that are embedded into the Flash file. Is there a way that I can set up a directory in my domain and just have the flash file pull these external images, at random to display? Also, it should be noted that it shouldn't pull the same image twice. That would look silly I would make the files all the correct resolution and size, so resizing is not an issue. I know you can do this sort of thing with javascript, but I want more control and a more stylish appearance.

I am using TweenLight and want to animate a MC. I create the MC, give it an instance name and can animate as such as long as the MC is on the stage.
Code:
TweenLite.to(Test_MC, 1, {x:300, alpha:1, scaleX:1.5, scaleY:1.5, delay:2});
but when I delete the MC from the stage I get an access of undefined property error. I want to bring the MC in an out of the stage when needed. How can I?

I've created an animated button in flash cs3, and wanted to bring my work onto a webpage/dreamweaver. HOWEVER, I only want to import the button, NOT the entire SWF file... JUST THE BUTTON... HELP!! I have got the problem with passing variables from php to a flash file. It works perfecly fine in the flash environment but when I move the file to the actual page on the server the loader doesn't seem to return any value.

I'm starting a flex+blazeds project. First I coded some server classes, and modified xmls (in WEB-INF). Now I want to test it with client. There (in Flash Builder) it's needed to specify path to folder where server lives. The problem is that I cannot find it. In the same time [URL] is found in browser.

I'm making a game where you move your avatar around the screen, grab pickups, and avoid enemies. The avatar and enemies are movie clips containing animations. When you collide with an enemy, his movie clip plays a quick animation. All of which is working fine. But what would be the best way to bring in new enemies (which will be different) when a new level starts?
Should I try putting the enemy movie clips inside empty holder movie clips, then swapping them with addChild? So far I haven't been able to get that working. Would swapping external SWFs into empty clips be better (which I'm reluctant to do, since the code that triggers the movie clip animation on collision is working well)? Is there a way to use normal mc's without holder clips, clear them from the stage, and create new ones? Or, is there a way to simply put all the enemy animations on different layers in a movie clip timeline, and switch them by controlling the layer visibility?

I have a movieclip with an instance name of "logo_mc" on the timeline. I have a pixel overlay covering the entire stage being implemented via actionscript.
A visual representation of this can be viewed when full screen is selected on this link:

I am new to AC3 and I need to have my Flash movie read URL's dynamically from an XML file. I have used this code and applied it to my button(photo_link_btn):

I am attempting to build a small slideshow using as3. I have built it on a transition extension. i have it working, but all the images are loaded into the library, given a class name to reference them and the rest is done based on the class names.in the as3 code a array has been set up all the class names listed like this:

I have taken it a step further and created a xml file listing the url to the photos i want to load in but this is where i am lost the urls are being read successfully in, so the code can access the urls but im not sure from there how I actually import the images in, or how to assign each a seperate class , does the addchild command assign a class name that i can add to the above array?

I get that I could find the image in the directory and just change it out with the same name/pixel size, but I'd also like to add more images to this particular project with the same conditions.

i have a preloader working. except i want to be able to load external images fully first, before the preloader stops. currently the preloader loads everything except the external images, and then everything else starts (but behind the scenes the external images haven't loaded yet and this is annoying!)... how can have the preloader continue until all assets, internal and external, are fully loaded?
ps, i don't want to give each image an individual preloader! i need them all there when the thing starts.

I have built a working preloader, but it does not include the external images in its calculations so the preloader finishes and THEN starts to load the external images..

Well the name of the topic sort of explains it all...I need a way to actually preload or pre-cache some external images, and what even whould be better whould be to pre-cache them during the time that I dont need to diplay them. For instance in this case I have an image-slider that always should show 4 images, and then randomly change those four images to four new images.So if there whould be a way to pre-cach those last four during the time that the other four is displayed that whould be great! Since then there whould be no need of any delay and preloading for the client.But then I actually came to think of another thing that might be more simple in my case but Im not sure if it whould work.
The idea I got was to actually load all the external images into movieclips and then add those movieclips into an array, and then just simply call the required image by calling for the array and the image's index...Whould this be one way to "pre-cache" the images?..since I whouldnt need to load the images again once I have added them to a Movieclip and then added that movieclip into an array,right?
