I want to capture flash events in webpage using javascript. By flash events I mean like, clicking a Button, mouseover, entering text in textbox in flash content (websites). I see adobe flash uses Action script code to get the events in eventlisteners. How can I use the same API in javascript?

View 2 RepliesIf my understanding of Flex is correct, skins in Flex are just DisplayObjects that are added as children to UIComponents to create the visual representation of the object. But if my understanding of the Flash event model is correct, if there is a non-transparent DisplayObject on top of another, mouse events will go to the topmost DisplayObject. The overlapped DisplayObject won't receive any mouse input.
So how is it that skinned Flex UIComponents work at all?
I build flash ads, so my swf files are just a small portion of the entire website. What I am wanting to do is somehow to take a screenshot of the entire webpage and import that into flash so that i can manipulate a live website in flash. My ads display on various pages so I can't simply fake the website in a flash file and overlay it on top of the site, i need to somehow pull in the content of the site.I've searched all over the internet for a way to do this and have yet to find a way, so i thought i'd ask for help.I understand that i may need some outside Javascript or server side scripts to do this,

I need to capture the event raised when a flash video ends. If possible, I'd like to distinguish this from a user clicking the stop button.

What I'm looking for is simple (I thought) js automation of the client player object, not more complex interactivity with the presentation itself. I thought this would be really simple stuff, but a dozen Google and Bing searches later, I can't find anything about it.
I am trying to capture the microphone and send the recording to my server.. I tried this method here but it records only a big WAV and the upload can be slow sometimes. Is there a way to capture the voice and compress it on the client side? Best method would be to send the recording while recording, but I have no Idea if this is possible. (It works for YouTube Live Webcam recording, it must work for Audio only too..)

Is it possible to capture the dimensions to set the object attributes as we grab the movies from the db to display in the page?I read that the movie dimensions are available in the loaderinfo object, but this is a AS3 object right? Are AS3 objects available outside the flash movie? Can I access the loaderobject via javascript?The Flash movies we're trying to load are not ours, we don't have access to the flas or anything like that so we can't edit anything to do with the movies themselves.
View 2 RepliesHow do I capture events of an obj behind another?I have a button(btn1) which I am applying a tween to. This tween is responsible for fading the btn out using the alpha prop (to 0). Behind that btn is another (btn2). I am having trouble leaving btn1 in place (same x and y) and being able to press on btn2. I have removed the eventHandler for btn1 but it's still blocking the other button. Other than creating another var and checking in the tween on complete handler is there any way to leave btn1 in place but be able to click through it??
View 2 RepliesI am designing a music player using JavaScript (jQuery) and HTML5, with Flash AS3 to fall back. Basically what I want to do is to be able to click HTML control elements and have them interact with the flash in order to play/pause and skip tracks in the playlist (playlist JSON file read by JavaScript, passes file ID to AS3, AS3 reads another JSON file to get URL, then plays audio)
This enables me to only use the Flash to play the audio, thus creating the same user experience regardless of HTML5 browser support. I'm assuming I will have to 'listen' for events in AS3, however any pointers in how to engage these events in JS and react to the events in AS3
What's the risk if it is between 2 websites or 2 webservices or between a site url and flash or embedded javascript ?

I'm using a custom right click context menu for a flash app (overriding the default adobe menu). For this Uza's right click solution [URL] works well.
However, flash player plugin (for Firefox/Chrome etc) has a bug which breaks usage of international characters when its using WMode for the html embed. WMode="widnow" works.

I need to capture the right click event fired from Flash player plugin to the web browser container without using WMode on the html embed tag (ie. WMode="window")
My main movie (SWF A) loads another movie (SWF B) and plays it.SWF B is legacy content - I can't modify it.SWF A is AS3. SWF B might be AS2 or AS3SWF B makes several calls to a javascript function that would normally reside in the hosting web page.The javascript calls might use ExternalInterface, or they might use getURL(javascript: xxx) or they might even use fscommand.
My questions:
Is there any way I can intercept the javascript call in movie A? I don't want to have to resort to the browser, so simply using ExternalInterface or similar to pipe the request back into the movie won't work.
If there is a way, how does it vary across the different versions (ie. what's the difference between the child movie being AS2 or AS3, and what's the difference between the various means of calling js?
I'm working on a web deployment, using Flex 4.0. I would be interested also in whether this is possible in Air, or Air Mobile.
I'm new to working with flash and have a quick question about embedding flash with the SWFObject.js file.I can successfully embed an object and play it, but what I'd like to know now is if there is a way that I can be notified when the movie is done being played without editing the flash file itself, since I have no real way to do that.
View 1 RepliesI wondered if anyone can provide any information on how flash events relate to the DOM event model.My issue is this:body > div > object.The div has a mousedown event which calls 'preventDefault' on the event object.This shouldn't bear any relation to a click event within the objects swf however in IE9 it prevents the swfs mousedown event from firing..I'm struggling to understand how swf events fit in with DOM (presumably they continue to bubble up from the object element?) and why a click event on a div would affect a childs swf click.

I'm considering attempting a redesign of a flash website with jquery effects and transitions in place. I just wanted to reach out to the community to maybe see how feasible this really is considering the particular transitions and effects this website hasThe gallery I guess can be recreated by carousel plugin, but there are so many out there so maybe could suggest a stable one that would be be best suited to this job. The other items that really caught my attention in which I wouldn't really know where to start is the navbar and the effect that looks like a book opening when you click on a link on the navbar.
View 3 RepliesWhat I want to do is have control over the streams so I can send them wherever I want, have it interface w/a mic and cam, and the ability to capture and record them. At this point I don't have any specific specs or limitations. It will be used in a commercial project so the license must allow for that. Free and OSS is preferably, but commercial and proprietary is not out of the question if it's worth it.
I don't see html5 as a viable solution at this point so I'm assuming it's going to rely on flash which is fine, but I do not know actionscript. I'm not opposed to learning it, and assume I could pick it up fine within a week, but keep that in mind. If I have to build something myself from the actionscript libraries (I assume they provide enough functionality) I can do so, but I'm hoping for a quicker solution than that.
I've some very old Flash applications, which we don't want to rebuild to add a new feature. We simply need to detect when the user has become idle. So, if the Flash application receives no key or mouse events after 3 minutes, we want to track that time till the user interacts with the application again.
We've considered wrapping the applications in newer Flash applications to include the key/mouse event tracking; however, early research shows that some of our apps are so old that they use event systems or AVM's (ActionScript Virtual Machines) that are incompatible. Also, it seems that mouse events on the inner application don't bubble up to the outer application. (I think the direction of event processing is backwards in versions of Flash prior to 8)
Anyhow, the next idea on the table is to see if we can determine when the user stops interacting with the old Flash applications using JavaScript. Can anyone confirm whether or not it is possible to detect, using JavaScript only, when a swf in an HTML document loses focus or key and mouse events stop and start occurring on the swf?
I'm looking for a flash script/library to capture video and audio from a webcam and then somehow get a saved flv to my encoding server. I'm not looking for something that will host the videos for me. I just need something simple to capture and then upload. I really want this to be open source and free.
I've done a fair amount of searching and it seems that most of what i can find is either a full blown service with hosting, or the red 5 suite. I've been trying for a day to get something going on with Red5, but honestly I haven't done any flash or java development in over 6 years and this seems way too complicated when all i really want is a flash object i can stick on a webpage.
I have a single page web app that shows real time data using just HTML/CSS/JS - I have managed to keep Flash out of it.
Now I want to play a small chime but I don't want to make the site dependent on Flash. It is just a chime to indicate a new chat, so it is not a huge stumbling block but I would like to find a way.
Is this possible - I am guessing no since you need something local to play the sound

am i publishing the movie incorrectly? It works great when I preview the flash file (cntrl+enter), but after I publish it and insert it into the html (in dreamweaver), the file shows up and animates perfectly, but when clicked, no link... It doesn't do anything
