I would like only the word LEAF to fade in, and then the blue portion to wind its way around (Starting at the gap at the top, going clockwise and finishing by revealing to two shorter lines in the center). At first I tried to mask the blue portion in segments, but couldn't figure out how to link multiple symbols together to mask the same image.

Feb 12, 2011I've seen alot of instructions online on how to assign a hyperlink to an image. Alot of them say to convert the image to a symbol first and then add the appropriate Actionscript code (getUrl). I'm just wondering if there is a way to do it without converting it to a symbol (converting it to a symbol seems to add an artifact to one of the borders of the pic). Does anyone know if this can be done? Or must all images be converted to symbols to get links assigned to them?

May 15, 2011I have recently launched a site for a client which includes an interactive flash element on the home page but it takes a long time to load (10-30seconds). I have followed advice from others about keeping image small and link movies rather than embed but still slow, the swf file is about 7.9mb which i thought was ok for the size of flash file. Does anyway else know where I have gone wrong whether it be the embedding or some other area.

Jun 21, 2010I have been trying to insert flash file but I keep getting error messages that:
Not Found
The requested URL /annimations/Snow.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I firstly publish flash into both swf and http files. Then, I opened view source of the http file and pasted the code onto the dreamwaever file.

In addition, I deleted code that swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) on the http file. The dreamweaver gave an error message that the code swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) can cause error when downloading the flash. Finally all http, swf and flash files were uploaded. But I still got the error message above. In the past, I managed to upload flash using the method above, although I did not get any message regarding swfobject.registerObject(FlashID).
Flash :: Professional - Inserting Movie Into Article
Aug 13, 2010I inserted video into flash movie. I loaded the .swf & .fla files onto a server and went into the properties in the flash movie and pointed to the server to pull the .fla file & the movie controls .swf file. I can preview the movie in flash with no problem. I am wanting to use the object code that was created as part of the .html file that was generated by flash and insert this into an article to display the video. I path the .swf file in the object code to point to where it resides on the server but the video will not play using just the object code. Is there a way to do this using just a object or embed code without the need for scripts?

Jan 26, 2011I just scanned in 16 frames from old 16 mm film and created a short clip in .swf, by default the clip is looping. I want it to loop, but all I want to do is place a 5 second pause at the end of the short 1 second clip before it starts up again. I am using CS4 Flash Professional.

Feb 17, 2012I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:

So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.

Jun 5, 2010CS3 Flash - Complete newbie to Flash and I'm trying to change an existing flash piece.It consists of 4 different text statements that appear on a Black background - the first appears and stays on-screen for 10 secs, then it starts to blur and fade away in about a sec, and then the next statement appears, etc, etc., and the whole lot loops.The 4 statements appear as Video Clips (Symbols?) in the library.I need to add a new statement, which means there will be 5 statements. I duplicated one of the library items and renamed it, which seems to have worked fine... but I cannot then work out how I insert that video clip into the Timeline and still have the same visual effects and timing as the existing ones? I can insert a blank frame, but then I can only drop the new video clip text onto that one frame.I've tried copying and pasting a whole set of frames, and then go in and change the text. Which I thought had worked, but then discovered that it also changed the original frames.... now understand that's because they are just instances and any change will affect the master Video Clip!
So can anyone advise if I can insert my newly added and renamed video clip into the timeframe and create the same effect as the others?Please keep any advice as idiot-proof as possible as this is my first venture into Flash... not finding it as intuitive as I hoped, spent 6hrs to date just trying trial and error without any real success.

Jan 23, 2010Well yeah, I thought so as well. I mean I know the 'formula' by heart on how to add the link to an image (make it into a button, blah blah blah)
But for some reason when I do that, it doesn't work.
I want to add 5 links (lets say google.com) to the 5 images that are in a slider.
For some reason it gives me like... oh man.. so many errors

Apr 21, 2010I downloaded a flash template which uses XML and CDATA to get its content. It has "Main" pages and from those you can click a read more link and go to "Read More" pages. I would like to be able to add an image to the "Read More" pages.(I'm annoyed the author didn't include a sample image in these "Read More" sections so I could just replace the image file instead of trying to figure out the right code to add! But I'm sure there's a way.)In my .fla file, the "Main" pages are frames 2-7 and the "Read More" page is frame 8 within the movie clip "pages2_1". Oct 12, 2011I am trying to get buttons with ID's to use the URL that is located in the XML file. The button is associated to the ID in the XML, so they need to use that ones URL. They are all displayed on the page at the same time. So they will be essentially e.g. Hotspots on a map, that link to a specific HTML page.
