Nov 14, 2010im trying to apply a language using AS3,all other textfields are changed except the buttons. Is it becuz the buttons have more than 1 frame?

Apr 17, 2012I've got an array of Strings each of which have been input by a series of coloured buttons with sounds attached. When a play button is pressed the strings that correspond to different coloured sounds should play one after the other. Instead they all play at the same time as one jumbled mess of noise and I have tried everything to get it to work. The trace shows that the for loop through the array seems to be doing the right thing which is why I can't understand why it won't just play back one after the other.
This is the code for the play button:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Push Multiple Strings Into An Array, And Some Of The Strings Are The Same?
Aug 24, 2009I work on AS3 one week, and then take a break for a few weeks, then work on it a day, take a break, etc.. So I forget some of the basics, and need refreshers. I think I need to stop taking breaks.
Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.
Code:
var myArray = new Array();
myArray.push (Snivvle);
myArray.push (Kirupa);
myArray.push (Snivvle);
I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.
Professional :: Sending Two Strings At Same Time
Nov 14, 2010I am programing a flash page but writing function to send two stings at the same time? In my case, I would send backwardH and backwardLI have has tested all three options, but there is no error but either backwardH or backwardL movieclipet gets affected, not both at the same time though I would like both to be influenced at the same time. For example if I click button_1 then movieclip_1 and movieclip_2 would play. And if I click button_2 then just movieclip_1 would play.

Sep 30, 2010I understand that one can use local-specific ResourceBundles in combination with DateFormatters to format dates according to locale. However this is a manual process - is there an automatic way to do this or to set a default for the application?
In Java for example, all your dates will automatically appear in dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy format simply by setting the locale. In Flex, a default date output will always be in US format unless manually formatted otherwise. I'm looking for a way to get closer to the Java functionality.

Aug 6, 2011I am working on an AIR desktop application, and am trying to get the user's locale string. I basically need to know whether the user's locale is English or French. Capabilities.language doesn't seem to work for me, as it only displays the OS's UI language.
How can I get the user's current locale?
Once determined, I intend to set it to resourceManager.localeChain, so that the appropriate 'properties' files are used to display my UI literals.

Apr 28, 2007I'm creating an XML driven language selector which places the current language's flag (depending on the user's locale which is passed through a Flash Var parameter) at the top of the list. I've got all this working so far BUT i'm having trouble with the results. I want to be able to add onRollOver and onRelease functions to the newly created movieclips but it just ain't happening! The onRollOver function would be a bit of movement for each flag and the onRelease would call getURL using the url for that language which is contained in the XML file.

Actionscript 3 :: Flex : Unable To Open 'locale/en_US'
Jun 22, 2009Using Flex Builder : I have created a new Actionscript Project. I want to use mx.controls.Button class in it, so I did the following :
Added '-locale=en_US -source-path=locale/{locale}' to the Actionscript compiler arguments Added 'framework.swc' to the library path
But now I get this error: unable to open 'locale/en_US' I looked up and I do have the following directory inside my Flex Builder 3 installation:
./sdks/3.0.0/frameworks/locale/en_US
Flex :: AIR Application Not Finding Locale Properties File?
Feb 11, 2011I have the problem that when I use a component from an existing Flex Library in my AIR project, the values that should be loaded from the appropriate locale .properties file are not loaded. The values are always null.
I am using Eclipse and have created an AIR project that refers to the existing Flex Library (of which I have the source code). When I use a component from that library it calls the following code:

var res:String = resourceManager.getString('resources', str, params);
"str" and "params" have valid values but res is always null.The properties file is located within the assets directory of the Flex library. I am deducing that the properties file is not being loaded (for some reason). This Flex library works for other Flex projects so it has to be something about the way my project is set up.
I have my compiler settings set to: -locale en_US Is there something special that AIR projects need to do to ensure that they can refer to properties files?

Oct 5, 2011how to properly setup binding between my Locale class and an mxml file.
My main mxml file contains:

I would like to display an empty string in the button's label until the locale file loads. Once the locale file loads I would like to display what is returned by getLocaleString('title').
I think that this is what Binding is intended for however I think that I am approaching it wrong.
I know that I am not allowed to bind on a function. So do I need to allow access (using a get function) to my _dictionary property? What is the standard way to setup Binding for something like this?
This is my current Locale class.

Sep 10, 2009I have been trying to experiment with Flash's support for multilanguage documents. However, whatever locale I set in Regional and Language Options on Windows XP the swf file always assumes an "en" locale. I simplified the document down to:import flash.system.Capabilities;trace(flash.system.Capabilities.language);And this also always gives "en".I read somewhere (not in Adobe's documentation!) that Capabilities.language gives the language of the Flash player. Is this correct? If so, is there anyway of retrieving the locale that is set in Regional and Language Options?

When I change locales, the labels display correctly in the ComboBox's dropdown list, or if I change a selection. However, the currently selected item's label doesn't refresh at first. Is there a way to force the labelFunction to get called again?

Dec 11, 2011I have a flash app and a textfield in it. I can change locale on the system tray and type unicode characters, for example with windows -1251 encoding. If I use jquery to send the unicoded text to save to database, how does it get there, as windows-1251 encoded or other encoding, like UTF-8?
Or lets just say with which encoding it get to jquery at first?

I have tried to implement all the answers I've found about this question (and there were a lot); forcing to compile to flash player 10, including all libraries, etc.. but nothing is working.

I've removed the last 2 compiler.library-path options and replaced it with this: It's still not working but I feel like I'm coding it correctly because it's looking for the framework SWC as run-time shared library, which it really is.

Professional :: Xml With As2 Buttons
Jan 11, 2011ok, we have parts in a diagram that our customers will need to click on to add to their cart and stuff. the IT guys want me to set up an xml file in the flash. basically, say the user clicks on a screw, a javascript "window" will open up with more info on the screw and there will be some buttons to add to cart and stuff like that. i assume the xml is for the information, prices, and stuff like that but what i need to know is...
what do i do to set this up correctly? do they need to be buttons? movie clips? how do i need to name the buttons? does the name in the file have to match the name in the xml? (i assume it does) i have an xml file set up for it already. but since this is my first time working with xml i want to make sure i set it up correctly the first time so i dont have to redo very much.
Professional :: Getting Buttons To Work?
Apr 1, 2010i'm just learning Flash at a local college and my instruction is not being very helpful, so i'm hoping someone can help me. I need to insert a "start" button that will start the movie. I have the button on a layer called "startButton". I inserted another layer and called it "stopMovie" - this is where I add a keyframe on the 1st from and the last frame and then add a actionscript to stopmovie on both frames.
The problem I'm having is when I select the 1st frame of the layer where the button is localed, I go to the actionscript window/global fuction/timeline and then I want to select "play" but the system has it grayed out so I can't select it. My only option is "goto". But that doesn't work. All I want the funtion to do is start playing when I click on the start button.

Scene none has a button forcing to scene 2. When i put code on main timeline it broke my button that is on Scene 2 that allows me to jump around in that timeline to different frame labels.[code]

Feb 18, 2010I am new to Flash CS4 so I may be doing something stupid. I created my assests on Photoshop CS4 and imported them into flash as flash layers. I followed a training video by Paul Trani about creating a first website. I have several pages in my site, home, about, contact, photos etc. I created navigation buttons for the homepage and they work great. However on my other pages I created different buttons as they are in a different place and have some additional buttons that the homepage does not have (except the contact page has common buttons to the homepage). I put the homepage and second page (contact) actions on frame 1. I then created a new keyframe at frame 20 where the rest of the pages uses common buttons. I then changed the language in the action script so as not to conflict with the frame 1 action script. I had trouble making the second group of buttons work so I created a new actions layer (actions2) and they work, except.
Well my homepage buttons work, all of them. I can even go to my contact page (which share the same buttons with the homepage) and then go back to the home page. I can also go from the homepage to the other pages and those buttons work... UNTIL I go back to the home page or to the contacts page (the pages that share buttons) then those buttons NO LONGER WORK??? It seems like once I committ myself to one group of pages (I consider myself having two groups of pages based on the sharing of buttons by each group) it disables the other group.
