Professional :: Normal Means To End TLF Text Edits Has Disappeared

Something is broken in my Flash Professional CS5, and it's creating a real pain. When I have finished editing a page of TLF text and want to return to the stage, I find the little left arrow Missing In Action.
I'd send you picture of it, but it can no longer be found. Here is an image that I snagged from Adobe TV to give you a rough idea what I'm saying. The difference is that when I was editing a text symbol, ( before it broke ) then its name would be where Scene 1 appears, and the arrow would be strongly visible ( dark blue? ) rather than grayed out like this one is.
When this first happened it took a while to find any way at all of escaping the edit, but I finally found a really clunky way to get out. I have to save then exit the entire .fla file edit session, then come back in and start over.
I'm running Flash Professional CS5 11.0.2.489, apparently 32 bit code under Windows 7 on a 64-bit i7 processor.
Not surprisingly, this creates a big problem for me, since I have a huge amount of work that must be done quickly. I spent the money necessary to purchase what I thought was the best tool on the market, now I need some help to get it working again.
I've been working on a flash file all day and have savedmultiple times. The last time I tried to save it kept giving me theerror "Unknown error occurred while accessing index.fla" which wasthe name of the file I was working on and had saved multiple timesthroughout the day.I tried changing the name, saving it in a different location,etc., same error. I figured if I closed and reopened it I wouldjust lose the changes made since the last save, which was about 20minutes prior. No big deal right?I closed flash without saving (since it wouldn't let me, keptgiving that error), and go to reopen the file from the folder saved it in all day and it is GONE!
A few hours ago I set up my embedded fonts and everything seemed to be working perfectly. On going back to the site just now all my text has disappeared off the website. If I comment out the embedFonts= true line I get them back (but unformatted of course) so it has to do with the embedded fonts. I tried embedding new fonts but to no avail. I created a new test document and typed the following code and created an embedded font called myTestVerdana and it worked. I copied the code to the first frame of my website and created an new embeded font called the same and it didn't work!!! Again commenting out the embedFonts=true line gave me the text but unformatted.

I had CS5 v11.0.0.xxx. I had the problem. I have just upgraded to CS5 v11.0.2.489. I have the same problem. I imported a series of images in CS5 v11.0.0.xxx to the stage. I saved the file and reopened it.The images were gone in the stage. They were corrupted in library as well.
I imported the same images in Flash 8. I saved the file and reopend it in Flash 8 without a problem. I reopened the file in CS5 v11.0.0 and CSv11.0.2 without a problem. I saved the file to CS4 format and reopened the new CS4 file in CS5 without a problem. I saved the file to CS5 format (both compressed and uncompressed) and reopened the new CS5 files. The problem is still there.

I was playing around with Flash cs4 on the motion editor, and I changed some number at "exanded graph size" from 200 to 150, and the entire motion editor became empty!
I was editing an FLA file which was Read Only due to our versioning system (P4) however, when I did not have a file checked out (therefore was Read Only), I did not get an error when I saved the file (there was even a save progress bar!) - yet when I opened the file again, all the information I had "Saved" was not there. I tested this out on several other non-checked out files (read-only files) and I was still able to hit "save" on all of them - but it did not actually save the file. In none of these instances was I alerted that I was trying to edit a read only file.
That I do not really remember or look for a solution, so I tell myself that it is perhaps a forum that I did find .. I work on a project with Adobe Flash CS4, consist of several sequences with animation, script, sound ect. Yesterday I try to Launch the movie and I got around to indicate a message saying: That I was unable to load all the sequences,'' then'' that my file had been damaged'' Following this I was worried and I was getting a check in my paper to see if my file was still there, and although it's not as if he estab delete it, it does not appear anywhere in my pc, put in my flash off is to remain open and on which I can still modify items so that is not blocked. Now he tells me to reinstall Flash
I would like to take text that was rendered into HTML text and create a string that includes all of the HTML tags.So I my swf loads text containing HTML tags from external file swf displays text as htmlText into an input box user edits text(ok so far)swf then gets the text with HTML tags and sends to external file.
Currently when I do this it strips out the HTML tags.
eg

so you see it strips out the HTML tags. Thus the malfunction when I save and reload it to an external file.
I'd like to make an event related to a text in order to have a menu in my game. And i expect that user click on the text Play to launch : gotoAndStop("game");
The problem is that i don't have 'onPress' event on a normal text, and i don't want to use a button, just a text.
I have export a 10 mb fla sildeshow of 10 image 650x350 with alpha, classic tween and audio to avi using Flash CS5 and the output avi file for a 47sec movie come up to 750 MB, is that normal? How can I reduce the size?
Under the stroke properties before or after I draw a line, I set it to NORMAL but when I re-select the line, it keeps changing it back to NONE. Some how it is now the default and I cannot change it I have tried opening new documents from scratch but I still cannot get it back to scale normally. All the lines are inside movie clips and these movie clips need to scale properly. I cannot seem to find any other answers besides telling me what I have already tried.If I change the line type from solid to dotted, it then scales (actually you cannot change the scale mode.
I'm pretty new to this and racking my brains on the following problem: I have a movieclip-button, with 3 states (normal, over and clicked). I want to disable the functions in actionscript 3 that switch between the normal and over-states after the button is clicked, and not enable these functions for this button until another button is clicked. What's the best/ simplest way to do this?
Everytime I want to insert frames or keyframes after a tween, from whereon the object should rest, it is just enlarging my tween. How can I finish the tween and go on with normal keyframes and frames?
How do I convert a multiline of text from an input box into a single line of text except I would put a string of characters to replace the carriage return?

what are some tricks and tips for making editing across frames quicker and more consistent? For example, if I have an animation with many frames and/or multiple scenes is there a way to add or move an element so that it appears the same way across all of the frames?
I havve accidently created extra unneeded key frames in a layer, in the middle of motion tween. I was wondering how to change these keyframes, without deleting them so not to change the length?
How can i reset a frame so everything starts again instead of manually coding for everything to go back to normal positions because i have lots of objects and it makes it real hard.
I have an editable DataGrid in Flex, with data full of numbers. The columns have no special itemRenderer, but a labelFunction, which returns the number as-is if positive, but puts it in parentheses if it is negative, like so
27.3 => "27.3" -27.3 => "(27.3)"
Now, these cells are editable. When I try to edit a cell with a positive number, nothing is wrong. But if I try to edit a negative number, it starts editing (27.3) instead of editing -27.3. Because of this, when the edit is done, the labelFunction is evaluated with the new value in parentheses(i.e.,labelFunction is called with "(30.5)"), and converting it to a Number results in NaN. So, I want to know if I can make the DataGrid edit the data in the dataProvider instead of the label that it shows.
You know when you "liquify" something in Photoshop, and then you have all these different options to push parts of the picture around. Is there any way to make a region that will basically "re-liquify" every frame, no matter what is underneath of it?
Background: I am trying to create a website that is easily updateable by a non-html savy user. I figure I can load the content of my flash page from a notepad file within the same directory.I would prefer to not make the editor use a FTP program, so I figure the best method is a webpage where the person can log in and type the updated text and have it create a new notepad file and overwrite the old one. I am not sure if this is technically flash or simply a html question, but does anyone know how to go about doing this
Using loadmovie I'm loading an external SWF on a different domain. Any property changes made to a movie clip in the loaded SWF don't show in a broswer. container.emc.loadMovie([URL]); Inside movieA is the movieclip "box". I don't want "box" to be visible so I've used container.emc.box._visible = false; All working fine at this point, when I preview the SWF from Flash (CS3) I see that box isn't visible. When I open the SWF in the browser, movieA is loaded but box is not set to invisible. This happens with all browsers or any publish settings I try.
Well, there is a huge debate going on with the "best way to show users language selection", but no answer.All seem to suck. 2 and 3 suffering from "Country != Language", 1 and 4 suffering from "Cognitively, selecting a word out of a list of words sucks."While this question may seem subjective, it is possible to answer this question in a non-subjective way.Such as if Flex or some Flex component exists as a "Language Chooser" such as that found on a mobile device.
Yeah, I can't workout how to make them swapVis basically. Any more efficient means/methods would be welcomed.I feel like my code is getting too straight up and down and not looking out to make it shorter etc.
I don't know what I did but the timeline with the frames and numbers on the top? disappeared and I've tried to get it back restarting etc, but don't know what else to do?
