Professional :: Unable To Save Document As (Flash CS5 - BUG - OSX)

I have upgraded my CS4 to CS5 on MAC OSX and i'm having problems saving new and existing fla files. It doesnt always do it but it's very anoying when you have done some work and are unable to save it.
I get this message:
unable to save document as (file name)
please try saving to a different filename or location.
even if i try to save as to a different location i get the same message, this ONLY happens in flash CS5 and does not do it on any other application or even flash CS4. To put it bluntly i am absolutely furious with this and when you pay this amount of money should not get this hassle for such a simple action.
I have tried phoneing the adobe support line and it's a joke, you can't even understand the operator to even get anywhere and i just gave up having to repeat myself and asking them to repeat themselves.
I would be grateful if someone out there knows an answer to this or have a contact email for adobe support that i can email them direct. As a flash developer it's critical i can get on with my work without worrying if my work will even save.
UPDATE: I can save files in CS5 as CS4 documents but not as CS5, this is so annoying.

I'm having an odd problem that I can't seem to resolve. I'm updating some old animations (created around 2004-2005). Most have gone without a hitch, however one file has been a problem.
First the specs: Windows 7 64bit, Master Collection CS5.5. All updated.
The problem with the file:
I can open it just fine, test the movie, etc. If I try to save the document, it fails, saying "Unable to save the document as...". I can save the file as a CS4 document, which seems to work OK. However, I need to move the contents into a new document. If I try to Copy the laters, Flash immediately crashes.

I have 2 files one that says it is a flash document with the extension .swf the other says Shockwave Flash Document also with the extension .swf.
How do I save my .fla file as a flash document (.swf)? I dont think I want it to be a shockwave flash document.
What is the difference between the two?

I have a App.fla file on a path and a App.as file on the same path. On the Class field I put "App" and on the ActionScript Settings Source path there is "." which means the same path of the .fla file, right? I open the App.fla file and click on the little "pencil" icon in order to edit App.as but then Flash whether tells me there's no class file associated or it opens a new ActionScript file.
So I can't do nothing , I even copied all code into the App.as , and pasted into the new ActionScript file it generates when I click the little pencil button. It still cannot find the god damned class. A little detail, I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.2. I've been working full time with flash on a Windows and that never happened to me before. That hasn't happend to me on Mac either (though I have hardly used it to do FLASH/AS).

I am developing a Jigsaw puzzle in Flash. I am developing a class for puzzle piece. The code of the PuzzlePiece class in given as follows.

I will be choosing which mask to use based on users selection of puzzle piece.When I try to use traingular mask by adding puzzle.gotoAndStop(2) the swf just flickers. I work with Flash Pro allmost 11 hours per day and every while i get a error which messes up everything. Approximetly i get this after about 2-3 hours withevery project.After i get this error there is no chance to test movies afterwards.I see a fast flash of the loader window but it dissapears so fast i cant even really see if it is loader.

I am using Flex 4.1 and AlivePdf for generating pdf. My requirement is like as follows: I have an array of xml data. I need to iterate that array, develop a chart, take a screen shot of that chart (using ImageSnapshot.captureImage) and save it as pdf in desktop folder. Here, I am using the following code snippet,

I downloaded the trial version so I could work on the final project for class but for some reason when I tried to save it my computer froze up. Is this because the save feature is turned off for the trial version or was it just my computer? If I can't save using the trial version than I wasted memory on my computer and a lot of my time downloading the trial version that isn't going to be very useful to me.

At my college, they have CS4 (master suite) and at home I've got CS5 (design premium). I can save files in CS5 as CS4 so they can be read at college (by Flash) but I have to do it via the "save as" every time I save. After a couple of times, it get rather irritating. Is it possible for me to save in the usual way (as if it was a CS5 document) without the save as dialog every time I save my work?

I have been working on a full flash website for a while, and been testing it using the Ctrl + Enter command to export it to swf. Today I was working on the file making some text modifications, but when I tried to test the website, nothing happens. It shows the progress window, but after a while nothing happens, It wont show the swf test file, and It doesn't create the swf file in any way. I tried the other commands: file-publish, file-export to swf with no success. I'm using Flash CS4 professional (10.0.2) on Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit. Other .fla files export swf with no problem, and the Swf preview (Ctrl + Enter) works fine. It's only in this file.

I recently made a flash document with animations and some AS at 1600 pixels wide. It turns out that my web developer is having trouble using the file and would like it cut down to 1200 pixels wide. I can make the document 1200 wide, but then everything is off-center. Is there any way that I can crop it to 1200 my taking 200 pixels off of each side instead of just 400 off of one side? If not is there an easier way to just select every layer and tween at one and move them over

I did an animation in Flash CS5 for my website that I'm creating in DWCS5. The animation size in flash is 7000x300pxls. When I was done I save it to my desktop. then I went file- publish. and get an option to save in SWF. and HTMl. I select both boxes . and I choose to save to my desktop too. but when I go to my desktop I don't see it. I dont understand why I can't save it in these two formats. do you think I m missing a plug-in. And if you can post it here or email

have trouble with the Alpha slider (Color Effect>Alpha) not going all the way to 0% or 100%? A lot of the time, I can only get up to 99% or down to 1%, even if I manually enter values into the textbox accompanying the slider. Some of the time, it will not even take a manual entry in the textbox. For example, if the slider is set at 65%, I can enter 0%, and it will just go right back to 65%.

while ago I made a created a basic effect in Flash CS4 whereby a selection of logos on my web-page gradually disappeared (in the same spot, not shrinking in size first or any other of the effects displayed in the motion presets) think this was done by some kind of preset but it doesn't seem to be in the motion presets panel. I can not seem to remember how it was done and I can't find the relevant settings. I don't know ActionScript so it was definitely a preset.Enclosed are some screen shots of the effect that I mean (stages every few seconds until they completely disappear).

Once you have read through the story and then go back along the timelone to previous pages all sfx that have previously been played will continuously start playing again (overlapping etc) even though SoundMixer.stopAll() gets called when ever you hit the back/next buttons. It seems to only be a problem with sound that is embedded in a movie clip that is 2 or more children deep. I have voice over that is just 1 movie clip deep and there is no issues with this. It only happens when playing through iPad/iPhone, the swf itself plays fine on my mac I have a work around of throwing all sfx in a mc on the main timeline and then referencing that but its not ideal and can see this causing more issues later down the track.
Ps. All mc's/animations are timeline based and all sounds are set to streaming.

i'm making an "EBook" for my GCE in applied ICT and i want to use a Flash handler to view a PDF document. So far i've converted the PDF file to images and Imported them (on the fly encorperating XML). while this was an alright way to work the images become pixelated when zoomed in/out so i was wondering if anyone has done something like this before and if so how they went about it?

I have a question about a library one would create inside a Flash document. I have a bunch of pieces of graphics objects inside a library for a FLA file. I then drag these pieces onto stage to build a more complex object. I then select all those pieces and group them and convert this new object into a movie clip. From there I move it into the library for that FLA file. I notice there is both a graphic for this object plus the movie clip for that object. To me these are 2 separate objects. So when I delete the graphic of the object, it also deletes the movie clip I created of the object.

1. I am creating a Flash banner to go at the top of my website that is going to animate the name for the site one letter at a time. I have this part of the banner completed as a movie symbol that I have added to my main timeline. What I was wonder is if it is possible to set a timer or some type of pause for how long I want it to wait before looping again? I dont want to stop the looping all together but would like to maybe make it pause for 5 minutes or so before starting animation again. Keep in mind it has to be done within the movie symbol becuase I have other animation going on the main timeline that will just continuously loop.
2. Is it possible to set a flash swf to the background of a html document? The reason I ask is again with my banner I am creating I have a menu bar that is about 3/4 of the ways down the height of banner. I want me primary animation to be able to move behind this menu bar. I realise I can make the menu straight in flash adding my links directly to it, but I would perfer to handle that in straight html or whatever if possible.

Is there a simple way to scale my entire movie? I've tried doing it with the "modify -> scale" and dragging, but that only scales the selected symbol. I also tried going to the last frame, selecting all and scaling again, but then I have stuff in the middle of the movie that doesn't seem to scale correctly.

Here is my idea:Create a new document with 4 keyframes in the main timeline.The first one will accommodate the title and two "play" buttons (each allowing to play a game). The second one will contain the first game. The third one will contain the second game. The last keyframe will contain the scoresEach game contains a movieclip that is being controlled by a main class that I wrote using as3.0. I have been working on a flash website inside flash CS5 here at school. I have been working for almost 3 hours with no problems and I have made sure to save from time to time. I have saved with no problems. My problem came when I clicked on test movie. As the movie was loading to test the SWF of the website flash crashed and closed out on me. I had just saved before testing so I could have the latest saved. I double click on my flash document to re-open flash and I get a message that says "Failed to open document."
Right after the message it lists the folder where my file is located. I still cannot get past this message and my file is a website I have been working on for over 3 hours now. I needed this for school and I guess if I can't fix it I will have to start from scratch although I had so much work completed. I even tried to open flash first and then go to file open but that did nothing except give me the same error message. Then I looked under recent documents and clicked on the file document and got the same thing.

I was quite excited about the new feature of the open FLA format and tried to save some existing FLA files as XFL using the CS5 Trial. I don't know whether the the feature is still in development, but it isn't working as expected at all which is some kind of disappointing.
It seems that the Flash IDE isn't capable of exporting existing bitmap assets properly and saving them to the appropriate path in the library folder in the file system. After trying to access the bitmap multiple times within the IDE and hitting the "Save as..." command multiple times and overwriting the current XFL, some bitmaps are magically partly there. Some others are not. Some of them have 0kb filesize and seem to be corrupted.
