have trouble with the Alpha slider (Color Effect>Alpha) not going all the way to 0% or 100%? A lot of the time, I can only get up to 99% or down to 1%, even if I manually enter values into the textbox accompanying the slider. Some of the time, it will not even take a manual entry in the textbox. For example, if the slider is set at 65%, I can enter 0%, and it will just go right back to 65%.

I have a box (type movieclip) on the stage, its named box_mc.It starts on the left and moves to the right via a timeline tween.I want the box_mc to have an alpha of 0 at the start and an alpha of 100 at the end. The alpha of 100 will (ultimately) be assigned via LoadVar.So, basically I need to set the alpha variable of the stage item before the movie starts playing via Loadvars.
View 2 RepliesI'm looking to make a slider bar reveal movie clips on my stage as you drag it along. I've written some sloppy code that works, but isn't smooth by any means. I basically put MCs on different frames on the timeline, and I want those MCs to fade in or out relative to where the pointer is on the bar. This was a workaround, what I think I need is a boolean solution, but I'm not familiar enough with AS to write one from scratch. Here is the code I have so far. Does anyone have any ideas?

I work with Flash Pro allmost 11 hours per day and every while i get a error which messes up everything. Approximetly i get this after about 2-3 hours withevery project.After i get this error there is no chance to test movies afterwards.I see a fast flash of the loader window but it dissapears so fast i cant even really see if it is loader.

I use Nivo slider on the html site as a slideshow to showcase images and tagline slides, I'm curious if anyone knows if you can put a Nivo slider slideshow in a flash site? Nivo slider uses jquery, with fairly simple html img src code and a css file, is it possible to have this in a flash site?

View 2 RepliesI have been working on a full flash website for a while, and been testing it using the Ctrl + Enter command to export it to swf. Today I was working on the file making some text modifications, but when I tried to test the website, nothing happens. It shows the progress window, but after a while nothing happens, It wont show the swf test file, and It doesn't create the swf file in any way. I tried the other commands: file-publish, file-export to swf with no success. I'm using Flash CS4 professional (10.0.2) on Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit. Other .fla files export swf with no problem, and the Swf preview (Ctrl + Enter) works fine. It's only in this file.

View 6 RepliesI'm in the middle of building a simple flash slideshow, using alpha fades between images. I have three layers, the first one being text, on the timeline for each layer/image. The other two layers are images, small footprint (sized and optimized in photoshop, each less than 100k). When I hit the Enter key it will play on timeline but the preview and fla file just won't start, hung up on the first frame.

Is it possible to import a QuickTime movie with alpha channel into an FLA and have the FLA recognize the Alpha channel? When I've done this, it just shows opaque black instead of an alpha channel. I need that black to be transparent so I can see the layers below the video layer.
View 6 RepliesI have upgraded my CS4 to CS5 on MAC OSX and i'm having problems saving new and existing fla files. It doesnt always do it but it's very anoying when you have done some work and are unable to save it.
I get this message:
unable to save document as (file name)
please try saving to a different filename or location.
even if i try to save as to a different location i get the same message, this ONLY happens in flash CS5 and does not do it on any other application or even flash CS4. To put it bluntly i am absolutely furious with this and when you pay this amount of money should not get this hassle for such a simple action.
I have tried phoneing the adobe support line and it's a joke, you can't even understand the operator to even get anywhere and i just gave up having to repeat myself and asking them to repeat themselves.
I would be grateful if someone out there knows an answer to this or have a contact email for adobe support that i can email them direct. As a flash developer it's critical i can get on with my work without worrying if my work will even save.
UPDATE: I can save files in CS5 as CS4 documents but not as CS5, this is so annoying.
while ago I made a created a basic effect in Flash CS4 whereby a selection of logos on my web-page gradually disappeared (in the same spot, not shrinking in size first or any other of the effects displayed in the motion presets) think this was done by some kind of preset but it doesn't seem to be in the motion presets panel. I can not seem to remember how it was done and I can't find the relevant settings. I don't know ActionScript so it was definitely a preset.Enclosed are some screen shots of the effect that I mean (stages every few seconds until they completely disappear).
View 1 RepliesOnce you have read through the story and then go back along the timelone to previous pages all sfx that have previously been played will continuously start playing again (overlapping etc) even though SoundMixer.stopAll() gets called when ever you hit the back/next buttons. It seems to only be a problem with sound that is embedded in a movie clip that is 2 or more children deep. I have voice over that is just 1 movie clip deep and there is no issues with this. It only happens when playing through iPad/iPhone, the swf itself plays fine on my mac I have a work around of throwing all sfx in a mc on the main timeline and then referencing that but its not ideal and can see this causing more issues later down the track.
Ps. All mc's/animations are timeline based and all sounds are set to streaming.
I was using CS3 and Flash 8 (macromedia).I am working on a file that was created in maybe flash cs3 or perhaps flash 8, from another developer.It shows tweens on the time line.The developer created fade tweens, with names like "Transform 1" etc.The fades are on symbols (the developer converted jpegs to a symbols)from 100 percent to 0 percent alpha.I can see the fade go from 100 to 0, but I am unable to see the "alpha" properties when I select the symbol or the tween in the timeline.The tween is displayed in the timeline as a line with an arrowhead at the keyframe when the visibility goes to zero.I do not seem to be able to see the properties for the tween, i.e. 100 in keyframe 1, to 0 in keyframe 20.No information shows in the CS4 "Motion Editor".
I created a tween in a layer that I added, and it seems that CS4 no longer show the lines with arrowheads, but uses a different color for the tween range.And I get the motion properties in the "Motion Editor".I am sure it is pilot error here.Since I just installed CS4, etc.How can I view tween properties, like alpha on a symbol created in an earlier version of Flash?

I've tried doing the reg fix from Lee's blog but still can't get it to work. I've also tried deleting the Flash regkey and the configuration folder but still can't get it to work.

I have a colleague who is trying to put together a Flash package for me on her macbook pro. It needs to play an flv file. She is unable to play flv files on her computer either in Flash or using the Adobe Media Player. I have no problem playing the same files on my macbook pro, we're both running the latest OS and have version 1.8 of Adobe Media Player. She went to the Adobe site to download the latest version of Adobe Media Player, hoping that might include whatever component is missing on her system. Because of Adobe's decision not to distribute AMP that didn't help.
She has Flash Professional CS5 11.0.2 on her system. When she imports an flv video into a Flash project and tries to play it she gets an error message saying it can't stream the video. Note that the video is on her hard drive, it is NOT on the internet so no streaming should be required. The actual error message is: "the video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found." Since it's a file on her hard drive, and she has loaded the file into the Adobe development environment successfully, the one thing we know for certain is that neither of these reasons is correct.
I would like to create a dynamic 3 layer image that can have any of the 3 layers changed. i was thinking of doing this with alpha mapping where I have a back, middle, and front layer each defined by an alpha map. So if the style or shape of these changed I just render the texture with a new alpha map to define what portion actually takes the texture. So for each of the 3 layers there is a type(defines the shape), the texture which is applied to the shape, and an alpha map that is used to specify how the shape takes the image.
Imagine a fruit basket that can have the fruit switched out or the basket, and any combination of textures applied. You could potentially see the inside of the basket which may have a different texture than the outside. The fruit would all be one image that would then fit into the basket, and finally the basket would render. Then if you swap the color of the basket but keep the same model it would update, and you could then swap the model of the basket and keep the same color. But i'd want to do it where I have 1 texture that can fit over all the baskets but is just chopped off using alpha mapping.
I download Flash CS5 and I try to execute it without an error message coming in and basically the program does not start.The message goes as follows:

I am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.
