I am searching for a way to find out where elements in the library are used.I've just "inherited" a fairly messy .fla with most elements badly/unnamed and I'm trying to organize it.However there's up to 6-7 levels of reccursion and sometimes figuring out what is what is hard without finding where it's used.
View 1 RepliesWhenever I right-click on an element from the scene or the library and I click "Edit with Adboe Photoshop CS5" it brings the element into Photoshop really tiny, and even just by clicking back in Flash without having saved the file fom photoshop it makes the flash element tiny, without the abilitiy to Undo.
This is happening on every one of my flash files and files that I didn't even create.

I am using Flash CS4 AS3.. When I open my browser "Internet Explorer 7" it opens normal. But When I open a link using the following Flash code it opens half in length and half in width. I need to click on "Maximise" button to view in full. How to solve the problem? It is our Intranet link.

I am trying to develop a kind of monopoly in Flash AS3. For the tokens, a player have to choose a shape (as "dog", "shoe", "car", ...). All these shapes are allready designed as MovieClips, and are stored in the library (as "tDog", "tShoe", "tCar", ...). I have a set of Flex proprietary libraries (ActionScript APIs in SWCs), and I am wondering if it is possible to build a UI completely in HTML using these APIs for functionality, rather than a Flex based UI/view. If yes, what would be the approach (or some examples)?
One reason to do so is to re-use the existing Flex (domain layer) APIs (for the short term) rather than re-writing them in say, JavaScript.
I've made a *.swf file of the sprite sequences of 1000 images with (780 x 480) size. After that I embed this with another one class to show but every time it crushes during run time because of insufficient memory (assume that I have 2GB memory space). Which is the best way to implement such big sprite sequences in AS3 by avoiding the memory problem?

I am working in two different applications, one to be compiled for desktop use (AIR) and one to be compiled for the web. They are part of the same project and use the same visual components, but they are completely different apps. When a visual component is changed in one application then it should also change in the other one. Is this a good situation to use a shared library fla? I am new to the concept of shared libraries and I am considering the options.
On one had I would not have to update 2 applications everytime I change something, on the other, I would always have to recompile the library folder when I do the smallest changes to a component.
The images for animation load okay. The sound loads okay. But the animation images need to be inserted in coordination with the sounds, which is difficult using only the ears There is a visual graph of audio levels in the library window, which I have seen appear in the timeline also but only momentarily. I do not know how to keep the audio graph on the timeline so as to know where to put the images. I can keep the graph open on the little library window when it is open but not on the timeline. how to keep the graph open on the audio track while I work on the image tracks.
View 1 RepliesWe recently upgraded to CS4 and this morning I had to put a file together for a meeting, in a couple of hours time. When I viewed the uploaded files for the first time it asked me to install Flash Player 10, which I did, but even afterwards I still just got a blank page.At the bottom the page tells me it is transferring data from [url]....? Eventually this stops but nothing happens on screen.
This is the same on Firefox and Safari on my Mac, and IE7 on our office PC.I have checked all of my paths etc in the code to the expressInstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js but they all seem correct...I have the Scripts folder with the 2 above files within the same folder as my index file:

I would like to know if it is possible to view a PDF document WITHIN an offline Flash Projector.exe? Just like when you have the ability to access the Acrobat toolbar within a web browser.
I have 45 PDF booklets that I can already open from a Flash Projector into Acrobat Reader for printing, but I would prefer not to leave the Flash Projector at all.
URL...This link works fine in my desktop computer, but when i try to check it with my laptop or netbook, it wont load the video thumbnails or so.It just keeps saying leniyor (loading) and gets stuck.The flash player version is the same with my desktop and laptop. View 3 RepliesI'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.
I'm currently using RobotLegs with the Presentation Model pattern to develop a Flex 4 project. I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.

View 1 RepliesI'm writing jsfl script where I'm setting an element width and height. When I go to run the script, my element's width and height are off by what I set it to. For example, I set the width and height to 800, the results I get for width and height are 799.4, 799.0 respectively. I'm not understanding why my element's width and height aren't exactly what I typed in?Btw, I can go into the "size and position" property UI and set them to 800 x 800 and those values stick. It's only when I set the width and height via the element.width and element.height that my values change on me.

So far i've converted the PDF file to images and Imported them (on the fly encorperating XML). while this was an alright way to work the images become pixelated when zoomed in/out so i was wondering if anyone has done something like this before and if so how they went about it?

I swear I used to be able to see an outline of my clips even though the alpha is all the way down... now if my clip is alpha down there's no outline when i 'view as outlines' in the timeline. maybe i accidently changed a setting some where?

All I can see is the layers there - they take up the whole area and when I try to grab and drag the timeline to shorten the layers nothing happens. I must have hit something by accident

When I open a file that contains a box with TLF text, I don't see any text; what I see is an empty blue box at the upper left corner of the stage. Same thing if I try to draw a TLF text box.I am new to Flash, so please be kind. Is there maybe a component I should have installed with the CS5 suite that I didn't install? I didn't install everything since I didn't need it all and don't have the disk space.
View 3 RepliesI run a school lab with a few users on each machine. One students came up with a problem. She is always in outline view, even when the outline button in the layers panels is not punched. When I log in to the same machine, I do not have the problem. I assume the problem is in the user preferences file. We are on Windows 7. I went into AppData and deleted what I thought was the preferences file, but it continues to return. Anyone have any ideas why I can't get her out of outline view? Adobe Flash CS5

EDIT-I was able to reposiiton the element, not sure why what I did earleir did not work. Still need to know how to have a transparent background on the flash.

New to flash... there is one element (searchfield) which is right-aligned, and it stays that way. If I move it, or change coordinates, it does change its up&down position, but stays right aligned (no absolute position, it shifts when window is made larger/smaller). I do need a clue where I turn that off. I found several levels of layers, and I think I have put every (text) align to left. Still no use.
