Professional :: Adobe Demanding Revshare For New Flash Features?
Mar 28, 2012
In a market where everyone gets a cut, adobe is claiming that charging will make flash better, but from where I am standing it makes it worse. For example if I am using flash to develop a Facebook game, Facebook already takes a 30 percent cut, then on top of it having to pay 9 percent to adobe? that's a huge deal and an immediate turn off.Now they say that air will be unaffected, but I can only assume that if air on mobile becomes at all successful, what will stop them from doing the same?
I have been an enthusiastic flash developer for years and have been fully behind air for mobile development but this move may be a death blow as far as I am concerned. Adobe, if you care about your feature, please don't do this . . . You will drive people away from your product instead of bringing them closer.
Apparently Adobe added more features in flash video with each successive flash version, so earlier versions of flash video are only compatible with the same earlier version of the flash player. I'm trying to find out which video features are compatible with each of the flash players. This is because I want to create video for the lowest possible version of the flash player, so more people will be able to view it.
I've got a small client/server test application where I have a Flex app that makes an HTTP request of a server app. The server app is a script running on my local machine, listening on port 8001. The client is a swf that I am running locally, and uses mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to make the page request.
The HTTPService is being set up as per below:
_HttpService = new HTTPService(); _HttpService.url = "http://localhost:8001"; _HttpService.contentType = "text/xml";
When I make a basic page request, my server app is first receiving a "GET /crossdomain.xml HTTP/1.1" request, which is failing since I don't have a crossdomain.xml file in place. The reason I don't have one in place is because this is all happening on my local machine (for now) and I shouldn't need one (I don't think).
I definitely had this code working before without a crossdomain.xml when I was using Flex 3.x. I thought I had it working with Flex 4 as well. Now I'm using Flex 4.5. Is there an issue here, possibly due to security policy changes?With all of this happening on localhost, why is the Flash player requesting a crossdomain.xml file?
I have started developing a simple app in flash cs5I have an idea which i wish to implement.Could you guys tell me if its possible if so how to do.I have a blog ,when ever there is a new post(images +test) in that blog.Is it possible to view it in good UI within the mob app(developed in flash cs5) can it be done in ASAlso i have an picasa account were my pics are public i would to view it in a small gallery within the app with good UI.
In my machine I have installed only Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional trial version. Now this installation is not supporting adobe.utils.Extension class in this version. I have tried with all latest updates from adobe site. My doubt is does adobe.utils.Extension class is available in licensed version of Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional?
I'm trying to put together a Product Features Application, which allows visitors to our Website to view what their product will look like with add-on products via a simple checklist, and image layering platform. So essentially:
- Visitor see's the main Product (Fireplace) on Website Page- Visitor sees three Lists containing Checkboxes below the main image- Visitor clicks one checkbox from each list, and sees that ADD-ON product added to the main image above (so that they can view what the product will look like). I'm using CS4, and I'm slightly new to Flash.
I am working on my first Flash website for my photography, and along with placing watermarks on my images, I want to disable the users ability to "Right Click", and other saving options.
(By the way, I do not know if this matters but I am using "Adobe Flash CS5", on a Mac, running the most up-to-date version of "Snow Leopard". Also, I assume in-order to disable "Right Click" and other saving/downloading features I would have to enter some code; Can you either post the code, or put the website where I can get it?)
Please provide the feature to disable the system screensaver & power saving features while a video object is currently playing a video. I get this request all the time when developing video players and now that the netflix player provides this feature it is becoming a must have in the online video market. If you know other solution which does not require .net, silverlight , or any other browser plugin besides flash please let me know.
I'd like to convert a Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 .fla file to an Adobe Flash Professional 8 .fla file. Is this possible without downloading Adobe Flash Professional CS4 and CS3?
I'm wanting to create a moving object that will be exported into a tv commercial. Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first).Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay.Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
I'm now trying to use the new file features in Flash 10 but I'm getting this error when I try something like fileRef.load(); ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property load not found on flash.net.FileReference and there is no default value.
I am considering upgrading my copy of Flash Builder to 4.5, and would like a list of the new features in the new version before I commit. I have heard that the ASUnit tests integrate better than previously, and that there are some nice features like quick fixes, is there anything else? Finally, based on your experiences using it, are there any shortcomings to look out for / avoid?
I know how to create a FLV player in FLASH - But how do I add other features in the right click menu when a visitor hovers over the player? Like my own domain name & a toggle full screen and more.
I heard somewhere that the introduction of CS4 released some new AS3 features that Flash CS3 didn't have. I haven't been interested in learning what they were until now. Is this some mistake on my part or did they really release new features?
I have an FLV that i'm trying to import but I get this
WARNING: This movie uses features that are not supported in the Flash 7 playerSymbol=1.flv, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:VP6 Codec requires Flash Player 8 or higher.
I am thoroughly surprised that there is no Flash Hidden Features post yet in the Hidden Features series that I've been tracking for a while now. There is a recent AS3/Flex one but it's not very active and I don't exactly mean just AS3 when I say Flash here.The Hidden Features series is great for people who are new to a certain language. It shows the ropes and certain valuable tricks, all in one place. I think it's a brilliant idea. Even experts sometimes find tricks they'd never heard about.When I started with Flash, I was taken aback by the Flash IDE and odd concepts of Flash, compared to other programming languages.what are some hidden features of Flash as a language (AS2/3) and the Flash IDE?
I have a page that uses the jQuery.swfobject plugin to embed 5 flash items into a page and each flash item has a callback using externalInterface. The callbacks work when I have the js function outside of $(document).ready(function() but the jQuery animations do not fire - the ajax load however does. Does anyone know how to get the animations working too, code below:
function pageLoader(galID) { $('#menu').hide(); $('#holder_gallery').load("feeds.php", {gallery: galID}, function(){
I'd like to know if it is possible to enable/disable some piece of code according to Flash Player version in ActionScript 3.
Let's say; I have a custom class customClass that uses flash.media.Microphone. The Microphone class has a property isSupported which is available for Flash Player version 10.1 and above (as stated in the documentation). I implement this property in my customClass... so:
I need something like this (by checking with the built-in Capabilities.version):
if (version >= 10.1) { trace(_mic.isSupported); //this will throw an error if the debug version is not 10.1 or later } else { doSmthElse(); }
On some sites flash won't play, Adobe TV being one of them. Youtube and many others are fine.I have tried Firefox, Safari and Chrome (all latest versions) on OS X Snow Leopard. I have installed removed and reinstalled the latest Flash. I have even physically removed the Quicktime plugin (from the library/internet plugins) and the Quicktime application (from applications).
My crash log is located here.My specs:quote:HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PCIntel Pentium Dual CPU T2330 1.6/1.6 GHz2 GB ramWindows Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit
i can't export as Quicktime, it just stops at "Recording Flash Content" - Yes i could export as .avi, but for some reason, i lose some effects there, i could export as .swf as well, but Sony Vegas won't read .swf files, and i can't find a FREE (I don't want some trial with annoying Logos) ...
On the About Us and Services pages there is a link to open up a pop up box. This works fine but for some reason if I change the text in one section, for instance the "our team" pop up box text the pop up box on the Services page "read more" and "paranormal info" box has the same text displayed.I can't seem to find where to change the text for each box individually. If you visitI've uploaded the .fla file to the server also if someone is kind enough to have a look for me and point me in the right direction. You can download this from:
I try to show a Flash-10 animation in DW CS4 and I get the messageVoor het weergeven van de inhoud op deze pagina is een nieuwe versie van Adobe Flash Player vereist.In English: for representing the content of this page you need the new version of Adobe Flash Player. I download the new version (two times: In IE 8 and Firefox) and I still get the same message. How come? When I try-out in Flash everything is OK and the HTML-page is also OK in every browser there is.
I've created a flash animation (the backgroung is moving horizontally and vertically according to the movement of the mouse), the problem is that when I open my SWF file in Adobe Flash Player 10.0 the whole animation is shaking. (In Adobe Flash in preview mode it looks fine)
I cannot get certain game I play under Yahoo. It called "FamilyVill - facebook by Mozilla Firefox.It says, I need to upgrade the Flash Player.I was unable using my Flash Player I had. So,
What happens to Adobe Flash Player(not the plugin) when the 30 day trial expires? I've made a swf and I want to use it on another computer for a show. Will I have to buy a whole new flash or will the flash player still function even though the 30 day trial expires?
