Jan 22, 2010I'm having a little problem with my resize event... I created a component myself, and this component, at each resize event, runs a complex method. Here is the problem: When I maximize or restore my window, this event is called several times in a real short period of time, not letting enough time to my method to run completely before another one starts... I'd like to know if there is anyway of only run this method in the end of each resize movement.

Jan 23, 2010I am working on a Flash app that is 900x700 pixels. When viewed in misc. browsers at 1024x768, the browser chrome causes robs too much of the vertical space and the app appears in a window with a vertical scrollbar. Unacceptable.
The flash app will be launched via a link emailed to the viewers.
I'd like to avoid resizing the flash app and am wondering if there's a way to do the following via javascript, with no clicks involved:maximize the current browser window remove current window address bar and tabs / switch browser to full screen view (equivalent to pressing F11).
An alternative would be to resize the flash app vertically to match the browser canvas height to avoid scrolling. This may cause the app to become unreadable, so not the best approach in my case.
UPDATE: Seems that browser resizing and autoswitch to full screen won't work and neither will the flash app auto resize. What is the best approach then? And, some users may have browsers with toolbars or open a small browser window.
The only idea I have is to use javascript and display a message to users with small browser windows to pres F11 manually. The audience is executes and some may not even know what an F11 means...

Dec 1, 2011I built a functional flash header, that has slides in it with various images. The user can see the main image, and then there are 6 thumbnails that they use to click on to change slides or images.
I am trying to figure out how to automate those slides, so they "automatically" flash though, with an interval of 4 or 5 seconds, then the next slide. (above image are the slides I need to automatically go thru).
Looking into my files, I think I should just be able to apply some actions to each slide, however all the code I tried has been a failure.
So in a nutshell, I have a flash file that has image that move when clicked, and I am trying to have that automated so the slides/image slide automatically.

I want to automate the testing of various UI navigation/features - so that for each build/release , I can quickly validate the integrity of UI with these tests. I do not want to do the unit testing of action script APIs , instead I want to simulate the user events and assert the response against the known good results. I tried with Selenium, [URL] but if fails to record/recongnize the events fired in the flash component. Is there any tool (preferable Java based) available?

Dec 17, 2010I was wondering if its possible to automate games and apps that have been written in flash.
For example.
Suppose a simple card game was written in flash. To automate it I would need to
-read all of the values of all labels on the screen. -figure out the location and identity of active objects like buttons and text boxes.
I suppose these values could be passed to some kind of executable flile running outside the browser which would then move the mouse and click the buttons as desired.
Mabey there is a better way of doing this ?
I tried running flash apps in Firefox with firebug and fireflash installed to see if I could see what was going on inside the flash files. It didn't work. Mabey debugging has to be enable inside the files themselves which is no use if they are owned by somebody else.
Is it possible to automate a gmae somebody else has written in flash ?
Professional :: Loaded Video Inside Movieclip?
Mar 29, 2010I'm working with several videos each inside their own movieclips. When I click my forward button to jump to the next video I get the second video playing over the first one especially towards the end part of the first video. I can play and stop the movies just fine but it's the gotoAndPlay that's causing me problems right now with forwarding and rewinding clips.
Hope my explanation was clear cause I'm just starting out with AS3

The MP4 video is played through a SWF file with an FLVPlayBack component, and works perfectly on my company's staging environment. However, once we moved the files to the client's live site, the video's buffering does not work properly. Instead of showing the video controllers and progress bar as the video loads, nothing is shown until the video file is completely downloaded (about 50MB)Here are the settings used for the SWF file and FLVPlayBack Component:

AS3 :: CS3 / CS5 Fullscreen Video Window Revert At Video End?
Feb 19, 2011I have an EXE flash project that has a menu with several videos in a little player. The player has a fullscreen button that makes the video go fullscreen. When the video is over, the widescreen video is frozen on the last frame and stays there. I need the player to automatically leave widescreen mode at the end of the video and go back to the regular menu player.
I'm using AS3 to call up the videos from the menu clicks, so I'm not scared to get into code using actionscript. I just don't know what to do.

Actionscript 3 :: Maximize An AIR App Using The Keyboard?
May 24, 2010This boils down to being able to listen to key presses when the application doesn't have the focus. I've tried adding listeners to both stage and NativeApplication, but when the app is minimized it doesn't seem to listen to key events.
Just for the record, I'm trying to implement an app that behaves in the way Spotlight does. It runs on the background and it appears to the user after a keyboard shortcut combination.
If this is not possible, I think I would have to use some sort of helper app to listen to the keys and pass them on to the AIR app via NativeProcess, but it seems a little bit too complicated.
I'm planning to get this working on AIR 2 beta in at least Win and Mac.

Is there a simple utility that will allow me to eliminate the users ability to maximize the player window? Something that wont force me to bundle my 50 FLV videos into the EXE making an EXE thats like 300 MB...something that will not change anything about how the projector works but allow some projector top bar modifications?
I tend to remember long ago there was a very simple 1-2 screen utility that allowed you to simply check a few boxes, export and it acted in every way like a regular projector (exe) but simply disable a few options (like maximize).
