View 3 RepliesI have a project with that uses flash for most pages. Now the client want to replace the flash with jquery/html. So from where I have to start with?
The project has swf file and it is embedded by swfobject(javascript). with giving a idea or steps how I can convert the swf to javascript/html?
I would like to take a Flash video that is hosted on another site (like Youtube) and embed it into my own site with a custom designed HTML5 / CSS / jQuery GUI for player controls.
Would I have to create the new player GUI in Flash?
I want to use a fallback solution for HTML5 / flash audio players.
I wonder if I can use jQuery to check if HTML5 is supported.
I know there is .support() [URL]..but I'm not sure which would be a bullet proof check.
I'm looking for a good jQuery plugin that allows HTML5 video playback, with graceful fallback to Flash (and potentially further, to default system player, etc). I've googled, but nothing I've found has been quite what I'm looking for.
View 3 RepliesI'm creating my first web application and I'm really confused as to what technology to go for. My application needs to look serious (like an application), it doesn't need many colorful graphical interfaces. It only needs a toolbar, a tab bar, a split panel (preferably 3 columns), an easily-formatable text field, and a status bar. It will connect to a MySQL database through PHP (unless I go for GWT). Users will upload files. My evaluation of the options:
Flex: Probably the easiest to develop but I'm pretty sure my application is something one would use on an iPad and with Flash's future on the iPad still unsure, I don't want to take the risk, otherwise Flex would've been my choice. jQuery: I've heard a lot about it and a lot of people recommend but I don't know how easy it is to use and how customizable the look of my app is. GWT: The problem with GWT is that it doesn't have many widgets. Another problem is that I'm gonna have to host the files in AppEngine's datastore and transfer them back and forth to a web server that will do operations on them (I need to process them) which adds more traffic and slows the process which worsens the user experience. Closure: It has a nice toolbar and a nice text field. I'm not sure how easy it is to use. Plus, I read an article that makes it sound really bad.

I am creating a flash animation which has to be converted into Html 5. The reason for the conversion is the i-pad, so that my animation can run on i-pad or i-phone. I have tried using the WALLABY tool from adobe but haven't get the accurate animations. Though I have saw some adobe videos in which these people are perfectly running their flash animations through this WALLABY tool.
View 2 RepliesI was told that you can export Flash CS5 creations into html5 Canvas.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for a plugin or command so I can swap all the colors in a selected symbol. the find and search thing doesnt quite do it well. It needs to affect anything in a group within that symbol. I was also wondering if there was a way to convert fills back to lines or if there is a plugin for that too. Ineed it for flash pro 8, I know its old.
View 2 RepliesI'm just trying to understand how once HTML5 enters the picture, the current concerns about browser incompatibility and other issues go away? Wouldn't HTML5 simply add another set of browsers to the large list of current browsers that the application must target?
That is, assuming the enterprise web app requires one of these new HTML5 features (e.g. playing audio and/or video, integrating SVG or vector graphics, etc.). If such a feature isn't critical then graceful degradation may be acceptable and then my question is moot.
But for those apps that require one of these new HTML5 features, are you planning to support older browsers, or expecting it's acceptable to restrict to HTML5 browsers because the enterprise in question has made one of them their new corporate standard (or other scenario, etc.)?
How can I display alternate HTML with the jquery.swfobject plugin for browsers without Flash? I'm unable to find any documentation or examples showing how to do this.
Here is a snippet of my code:
<script type="text/javascript" language="Javascript" src="jquery.1.4.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="Javascript"

I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?
As an experienced programmer in various environments (Linux,server side web development,etc), I was recently approached with an offer to do some Actionscript development.Somehow, it seems to me that unless one is artistically or visually creative or at least has some visual talent, one's Actionscript programming skills alone will not get you very far in flash development.Can one be a superb flash developer without having to make any artistic decisions, relying on graphic artists to tell you what to do? Or, should I stick to server side coding where I know I can add real value, even excel.
View 1 RepliesI have an swf document and for a while now need to convert it to an html5. I talked to a dreamweaver specialist and he suggested wallaby. I tried this but i didnt have it in an FLA. I tried converting it using trial software dont know if it worked. When i put it in their was errors with multiple things, it didnt like the actionscript3. I tried googles swiffy and it didnt like the 9-slice scalling, either
View 1 RepliesIs there any way to play, stop or gotoAndPlay(anyframe) from JQuery?
View 2 RepliesIf I recall correctly you needed a server-side language to do that job...but will it be possible in the future for flash to open and write stuff into a notepad or something?
View 5 RepliesThe video performance I get from the built in FLV video is pretty poor. I'm considering using a StageWebView to display a HTML5 page with a standard <video> in it.
The video shows up and (if I enable controls) can be played and it looks great (much better than FLV). The only issue is I cannot find a way to have the video autoplay once the StageWebView is loaded.
I've set the <video .... autoplay> parameter. I've also tried using JavaScript to send a video.play() (after the window load event is complete and the DOM is ready).
I can't wait for AIR3.0 so we can just use StageVideo.. But for now I'm using AIR2.7 via Flash CS5.5 publishing for an iPad2 via AIR for iOS.
I'm taking a snapshot from a webcam and adding a frame around this snapshot.I add the snapshot before to load the frame from a file. How can I swap between those objects? because the frame appears at last and the snapshot appears infront. I wanna swap those in the way that the snapshot appears at last and then the frame.
View 1 RepliesWhen Flash starts up, the default color picker looks like this: I have accidentally somehow made mine look like this:And I have no idea how I did this, how to do it again, or how to get it back to the default.
All my web searches come up with a lot of stuff about coding my own color pickers or importing new ones and stuff. I just want to switch between these two modes: I would like mine back to the default, and my coworker would like hers (stuck on the default!) to look like mine.
I am looking to create an area on my homepage that swaps images every 5 seconds and also has a play/pause and next feature for the view to choose if they want to click through or pause on an image. I am looking to create swaping images just like the following link under 'Top Stories'I am using Flash CS4.
View 2 RepliesI can select one symbol and swap it with another, but why can't I swap multiple instances of the same symbol?
View 6 RepliesI have a VERY big animation, with a huge amount of keyframes, and I like to swap a symbol in this animation with another one. If I just use the swap button on the first frame, Flash only swaps the symbol for the first tween, whereas I have hundreds of tweens in my file... So how do I do this for every keyframe in every tween ?
I have 170 images that I need to place on the same place on the left side of the stage and and have them move across the stage one at a time, increase in size and then fade out after 10 sec. The sequence then continues for all 169 images. My initial thoughts are to animate the first image inside a movie clip, duplicate it and swap the image. When I tried this it worked fine until the image had shape tweened to the larger size (at this point the image displays for 10 sec and fades out). At the key frame at this point the image changed back to the original one. What do I need to do to make the new image visible throughout the whole movie clip when I swap the image like this? Is there a better way to produce this type of animation? I am using Flash Professional 8 and quite new to the world of Flash and Action Script.
View 14 RepliesThis is to be exported into a movie, so not an Actionscript question. I'm making a parody of a fighter-game scenario. One character looks like Subzero and the other like Scorpion. They're the same models but one should be colored differently. They're comprised of symbols such as arms and legs to make a larger overall character animation. There are several animations of them, for kicks, punches, bobbing, etc. Now, I know that if I went in and edited the colors, that all instances would change accordingly. Duplicating the symbol doesn't work because they share the same inner symbols. Is there a method for "deep" duplication? A tint doesn't work because essentially I only want to change the color of some of the components.
View 7 RepliesI've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present.It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?
View 1 RepliesI'm setting up a page that uses a flash menu to load html pages into a div container by the following call:
on (release){
getURL("javascript:getPage('test.html')");
}
The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?
Why does this program always output the text for "future" from function year()? In this case, with b+c equaling 56, var year should fall under (b+c) > 0 && (b+c) < 1000) and return "roman", but it instead returns "future"...I got this to successfully work if I add this:
var period:String = (year(b,c));
and in my body function, make the conditionals check the period. For example
if (period == "future")
but I don't understand why I need to do this. I am returning a string, why do I have to set another variable? There is no compiler errors so clearly its not syntactical?
var a:String = "Tim";
var b:int = 50; //CHANGE TO ANY INT YOU WANT
var c:int = 6; //CHANGE TO ANY INT YOU WANT
var d:String = "Kyle";
var sum:int = b+c;
